soulgrindr: Constantly whining gamers.

Yes, but...
avatar
soulgrindr: You see games that get solid 90% reviews... but if you read the forums or blogs you'd think they were crimes against humanity.

That could be an indication that most reviewers today are bought and sold by the publishers.
avatar
soulgrindr: Every forum is full of the lets hate on (bethesda/steam/ea/nintendo/whatever) threads...

That could be an indication that large segments of the gaming industry, after years of progressively more aggressive business methods which have worked fine so far, have finally crossed a line, past which many people will no longer support them.
avatar
soulgrindr: It's got to the stage now where even the people who pirate the game and get it for free get pissed and start complaining if it isn't perfect or if they don't get good support. GAHHHH!

Okay, that's just sheer asshattery. Screw them.

soulgrindr: *i realise i just wrote a whole bitchy rant about people bitching... but you did ask ;-)

"Gamers who bitch about other gamers bitching" ;-p

Narakir: I'm not sure about what you're meaning...

I'm pretty sure he thinks you insulted TES:IV Oblivion, by Bethesda Softworks.
The only problem there is that I can't see what that game has to do with any MMOs at all.
I think.
Oblivion is a single-player RPG... WoW is an MMORPG. Now think about what he said.

DRM'S in particular and over hyped games. Oh and the bribed/ass kissing game reviewers that help to over hype them.

Well I actualy liked Oblivion, the 100 hours... then you see how empty it is. Anyway this makes sense since I find got the same experience with MMOs. I'm used to play pen & paper RPGs so actual roleplay is something I can't do without for too long, but it wasn't what I meant in my previous post.
Hmmm, what annoys me:
- The endless debate about DRM, both sides, much more than DRM itself! .... give. me. a. break.
- Offline games that link your savegames to online services for no damn reason (hello, Windows Live?)
- Poor localised games, especially when substituting the original spoken dialog
- Yearly release of the same EA sport titles
- Platform exclusive titles
- The average MMO forum users.... unbelieavable
- Not being able to finish all the games that i buy before buying others

I liked Oblivion too, but it's true it gets stale after a while. That's why mods are a must have for it.
REGIONAL RESTRICTIONS!!!!!!!
oh and
Different release dates for the same goddamn game.
What annoys me the most about the industry?
Activision!
Put out nothing but sequels
Flood the market with Guitar Hero crap
Insist on screwing people over with all of their overpriced peripherals.
Throwing away perfectly good new IPs (Brutal Legend)
Then suing over the developer finding a new publisher.
Talking about not supporting a console b/c it's too expensive, when they, themselves, sell games with cheap plastic crap for $120-$190. Hypocrites!
Activision is ruining the industry.
I wish Infinity Ward would publish with someone else!
avatar
yesterday: 1) DRM
2) Publishers blaming everything on piracy
3) Less content, more "expansions"
4) The sycophantic nature of most of the review sites (case in point, the high ratings for tech demo, "Assasins Creed")
5) The Oblivionisation of the RPG segment
6) Less gameplay innovation, less bravery to put out interesting titles

I guess this sums it up.
I hate dhe hiperinflaction of games (and all entertainment industry ingeneral) and their crzy schemed DRm's

Ever think those are related somehow?

I wonder if they were the ones pushing Blizzard to cancel LAN in Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3?

You know what... I wouldn't doubt it. Man what a dumb move!
You know what will happen, they will come out and say that they are going to charge you for online multiplayer next. That's a very Activision move so I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled that crap.
I still can't believe that Blizzard bought into that crap. How does a respectable company like Blizzard get mixed up with the Satan of gaming?

From what I hear they are already considering charging for online multiplayer:

http://www.gossipgamers.com/activision-survey-hints-call-of-duty-subscription-possible-cod-mmo/

To be fair Infinity Ward have denyed that any such subscription model will be used in Modern Warfare 2.

Yeah I heard about that crap. Never associated it with Starcraft though.
That scares me a little now that you mention it though.
The hype machine and the inevitable fallout it causes from whiny forum posters.
