Elmofongo: Yeah I installed Daggerfall and THOSE CONTROLS ARE EVIL!!!
How did PC gamers played these games back then? and I placed GTA 3 on PS2 as the worse controls in video games ever.
Help me, help me Roman5 help me :(
Pretty much what people said in this thread previously How did PC gamers played these games back then? and I placed GTA 3 on PS2 as the worse controls in video games ever.

Just reconfigure the controls to a standard WASD layout, basically reconfigure everything, I did the same thing when I played the game, I don't really know what was going through Bethesdas head when they set up the game like this but the default controls are terrible.
Before you can even start to play daggerfall you have to spend 10-20 minutes setting up the controls and making sure it works for you well, which is well worth it considering the hundreds of hours you will spend on this game if you get into it...
I'm a person that loves playing magic users in RPG's....
I thought Morrowind was tough with regards to casters...Ooooh boy, that game seemed like paradise after I played Daggerfall, mages are so incredibly underpowered in that game from the start it's not even funny
brinf1: My solution: wait for DaggerXL port / engine re-write to finally release (assuming it ever does).
zavlin: geez i wasnt aware somebody was doing that. Theyv got quite the work cut out for them... It's funny how some people don't even think/consider playing certain ES games without installing mods, which count in the Bazillions for each game...

langurmonkey: Most PC games back then had shit controls so we were used to it. We are spoiled today. :) How did PC gamers played these games back then? and I placed GTA 3 on PS2 as the worse controls in video games ever.

bevinator: Once I rebound all the controls, it was perfectly playable. My ragequit was from:
1) getting completely and totally lost in a mating-octopus dungeon for some random timed quest for like the tenth time,
2) accidentally forgetting to change the cursor out of fight mode, and then getting attacked by 50 guardsmen when I "pickpocketed" a rat in a random graveyard 20 miles from civilization,
3) Not understanding why I kept getting one-shotted by a single orc... only to discover that it was actually THIRTY orcs all standing on top of one another,
4) HALT HALT HALT HALT HALT HALT
5) Goddamn Vampire Ancients. Goddamn them all to hell.
I think I'll take a screenshot of this, since it made me laugh 1) getting completely and totally lost in a mating-octopus dungeon for some random timed quest for like the tenth time,
2) accidentally forgetting to change the cursor out of fight mode, and then getting attacked by 50 guardsmen when I "pickpocketed" a rat in a random graveyard 20 miles from civilization,

In all seriousness though, daggerfall was an incredibly abitious project but it had many things about it that made it tough to get though/enjoy at times....like some of the things you mentioned above...
