Snickersnack: I think you'll be singing a different tune when Black Marsh uses 'revolutionary' Kinect slashing gestures. ;-p

I for one can't wait to challenge Tiber Septim's wraith to a dance off!

jackalKnight: The Elder Scrolls VI: Dancing with the Slayers
for Kinect
by Bethesda and Rare
I would play that.
It would be the best game Rare made in the last ten years :)

dirtyharry50: Hmm, now i am wanting to download Boxer and see if I could get this working on my Mac. I can almost feel some rage already! lol
You don't have Boxer?

How are you coping without all that dos-gamey goodness?

Well, being lazy and all, I was running GOGs in Parallels Windows XP VM. LOL. Works like a charm and easy as pie. But what is ever so much nicer now is the GOG Mac releases that do Boxer for me! I love it when stuff just works.

But in this case, there is nobody to spoon feed me Daggerfall so I'll be needing Boxer.
Supposedly the project is very near beta status, although the author has a tendency to go silent for long periods of time before resurfacing. His engine will supposedly also support Outlaws, Blood, and Dark Forces (coincidentally three of my fav GoGs).

brinf1: My solution: wait for DaggerXL port / engine re-write to finally release (assuming it ever does).

zavlin: geez i wasnt aware somebody was doing that. Theyv got quite the work cut out for them...
Once I rebound all the controls, it was perfectly playable. My ragequit was from:
1) getting completely and totally lost in a mating-octopus dungeon for some random timed quest for like the tenth time,
2) accidentally forgetting to change the cursor out of fight mode, and then getting attacked by 50 guardsmen when I "pickpocketed" a rat in a random graveyard 20 miles from civilization,
3) Not understanding why I kept getting one-shotted by a single orc... only to discover that it was actually THIRTY orcs all standing on top of one another,
4) HALT HALT HALT HALT HALT HALT
5) Goddamn Vampire Ancients. Goddamn them all to hell.
I had all of those things(Except swap pickpocket for talk) and on top of it finding out hours in I broke the main quest because I missed 2 letters while wandering in said dungeon and the rest traveling to daggerfall as fast as I could..
and reverting to an old save answering the letter then grinding back up to where I had been turned down a random quest from a noble thinking I could do it later only to find out it was a main quest that is only offered once.

:)

also that water thing so I had to save edit my swimming to 35 just so it wasn't cement.(and I know removing armor and not carring 10000lbs of crap makes you swim better, i had nothing but the shirt on my back and I dropped that on the shore)

Does multiple overlapping "halts" looping for awhile start turning into this weird giggly clown saying "hey" for anybody else's mind?

Do the sensible thing and wait for DaggerXL.

Gazoinks: Even for the time, Daggerfall's pretty clunky. Ultima Underworld came out like 4 years earlier and I find the controls easier to get the hang of.
That has to be bad then, since Ultima Underworld didn't have exactly elegant controls.

How is being able to do everything with mouse gestures not elegant? To this day the Underworlds have one of the best mouse controls ever.

I'm surprised to hear someone likes the UU controls. I thought they took time to get used to back in the day, and last week when I booted the game again I thought the controls were clunky as hell.
I think Daggerfall's controls are brilliant compared to those of System Shock. Now there's a game that has a horrible control system - and it managed to become a classic despite of it! I still hope to see a complete remake but with modern controls.

Looking up/down was a bit non-intuitive, yes. But once you started using the mouse for everything (not clicking into use mode, but holding down the button and dragging to use) it was quite comfortable. Funny, I played some Stygian Abyss a week ago, and still remembered all the controls, and they came quite natural to me :)

System Shock and CyberMage: Darklight Awakening ;) That one was .. the horror.

I'm getting a huge nostalgia boost right now. God, how did I love/hate this game ....

zavlin: nobody just stops playing daggerfall, you can only rage quit. And when it was time for me to stop playing i rage quit too.
One does not simply stop playing Daggerfall?
