GOG loves D&D

The Best of The Best. Unrivaled Champions of the genre. Nine of the Greatest. The Supreme Achievement of isometric era. Matchless. Perfect. 11 out of 10. Yes, you've guessed it--we're talking about D&D RPGs. From now until Friday, September 21 at AM 9:59 GMT [url=http://www.gog.com/en/promo/hasbro_stacking_promo/]you can buy fantastic Hasbro RPGs from the world of Dungeons and Dragons up to 65% off! If by some terrible twist of fate you didn't have the chance to add all of those Diamonds to your collection, now is a chance to correct this terrible injustice. Let's take a peek into the treasury, shall we?

In the center of our D&D chamber we've got the iconic Baldur’s Gate: The Original Saga and Baldur’s Gate II: Complete that collectively received over 10 “Best game of the year” awards from publications such as PC Gamer, Eurogamer, Computer Games Magazine and IGN. And in the cold, ice-filled corner there's the Icewind Dale and Icewind Dale 2 series that brought the D&D license to a more combat-oriented RPG gaming. The strange shimmering light comes from the inter-dimensional portal where Planescape: Torment resides. Winner of multiple RPG and Game of the Year awards in 1999, it is widely considered as one of the best storytelling RPGs in gaming history.
The treasure chamber wouldn't be complete without Neverwinter Nights--a game with a great single player campaign that offers even greater multiplayer experience and modding capabilities. This game is literally one you could play the rest of your life, if you were determined to get through every single user-created campaign or keep attending a multi-player server. And don't forget about the somewhat underrated gems in the collection! Dungeons & Dragons: Dragonshard is a fascinating blend of RPG and RTS. Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone is an action RPG with some interesting tactical elements to go along with the usual hack and slash of the genre. Finally, Temple of Elemental Evil, one of the tougher tactical RPGs ever--so hard that it balances on the fine edge of fairness.

A short news post like this is not nearly enough to give justice to each single D&D Diamond available in this promo. And because GOG staff loves D&D so much we are going to tell you about our personal experiences with those games throughout the week, starting tomorrow. But enough talk! Let the D20s roll! Visit the promo page to complete your collection of Diamonds of D&D!
Got Dragonshard, Demon Stone and Icewind Dale 2. I got 'em all now.

Thanks GOG!
First promo that I already own everything. :D
I have physical copies for most of these. Tempted by 3 which are on my wish list though my desire to get an iPhone 5 my override buying something here.
OMG Thank you GOG! I had been waiting for a D&D promo a long time, since the last time you had it, I was stupid and only bought IWD2. Too bad I already bought IWD1 about a week ago, but there's at least three games still in there that I'll definitely get once I get back home!

Same here. Good thing that I didn't have money anyway.. also when that's a good thing.

I hope two of those are Planescape: torment & Temple of elemental evil.

I picked these up during last year's promo. I'm glad that the sliding scale promos are back. Keep them coming, and I'll fill up the cart!
Nice looking promo but I already own them all.

Edit- NWN2 really should be here, I have been meaning to pick it up for a while. I have an old savegame, from a friend's copy which I need to complete.

Funny math: If you check all games except the cheapest (Elemental Evil) the price is actually higher than in the beginning with all games. :)
So what would people say are the "essentials" of this pack? Can't exactly afford them all at the moment but I'd be interested in picking a few up or the ones that are at least most recommended.

Heard great things about Planescape: Torment so I am picking that up but what else is particularly outstanding? Most of them look fairly solid though so that's the problem I see.
Awesome deal, especially since I already have a couple of the games (Planescape and the Baldur's). If only I weren't a perpetually broke grad student.

I, personally, would go for the Baldur's Gates (2 continues the story of 1, so I wouldn't go into 2 without having 1) or Neverwinter Nights. The Icewind Dales are much more combat and much less story/dialogue focused, so if that's your thing, then go for that. Dragonshard is an RTS RPG type thingy, so a bit different, and I haven't played ToEE or Demon Stone, so I can't say anything about them.

If you don't really care for graphics, any D&D gamer should really play the Gold Box first. Although the 2D graphics improved with the Infinity Engine, the actual combat went backwards because it used real-time (with pause) combat, while the previous Gold Box and Dark Sun engines used turn-based combat.

D&D rules aren't meant to be played in any form of real-time, even in a modified digital form.

Which is of course why Temple of Elemental Evil had an almost perfect combat system (but bad encounter design).
I have to buy six games to get 50% off? Sorry, I'm out. Won't have time to play them anyway.
Well I own all of them bar Demonstone, hmmmm shall I or shan't I get it.
"Nice, you own all games from this promo.
Have fun and don't forget to check out our next offer."

How the hell did that happen? :)
