Il-2 Sturmovik, Blitzkrieg, Silent Storm S2, and other War & Strategy games 60% off

This weekend, our [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/back_in_the_ussr_weekend_promo_16_11_12]"USSR Invades! War & Strategy Games" promo storms your screens with a tactical advantage of a 60% discount! GOG.com HQ has planned this sudden strike for weeks, and to ensure a totall victory we've allied with the Russians, and former Soviet republics. After all, it worked like a charm during the final days of World War II, and those developers and publishers excel in strategy and war games. Let's not waste time here and see what arrived in the reinforcements package from Russia (and former Soviet republics), with love.

For air support, we've got Il-2 Sturmovik, a highly praised title coming from the (sadly) almost extinct breed of realistic military aircraft simulations). Armchair generals will be extremely satisfied with Blitzkrieg Anthology and Blitzkrieg 2 Anthology--two feature-full RTS titles taking the realistic and historically accurate approach to the famous campaigns of World War II. Or if you like something less serious, but maybe even more challenging, try S2: Silent Storm Gold--a complex turn based strategy set in an alternative time-line, where the German Nazis excelled in technological advancement.

We're also happy to announce, that and [url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/soldiers_heroes_of_world_war_ii]Soldiers: Heroes of World War II--two games that gone MIA for a little while--have made their way back safely into GOG.com catalog, and are reporting for active duty. Just in time for the promo!

Do you doubt the military (gaming) potential of Eastern Europe? Head out to our our "USSR Invades! War & Strategy Games" promo page to see at least 17 titles proving that it should not be taken lightly!

Last, but not least--here's our video summary of the week. In case you missed it, here's what's new!

If the theme of this promo is "USSR invades", then Hind should definitely be a part of it... sadly, it isn't...
Had to do it had to make s2 60% off my poor credit card :)
perimeter is back! :)

SCPM: Glad to see Perimeter and Soldiers: Heroes of World War II back.

AdiJager: perimeter is back! :)
We're happy that we could add these two games back to our catalog. Actually, we've got one more we're finishing up to return in the next few weeks. We're still working on other titles that we've had to remove, and we hope we'll be able to add them back in someday.

My username is TheEnigmaticT. I could hardly keep the name if I just told you the answers you were looking for. :)

I think the "USSR" theme refers to the devs featured in this promo being located in former Eastern Block countries. Hind was developed by a British company.

This is, indeed, the case.

Your issue is probably different than mine but I also had some trouble here. The PayPal payment was completed but GOG's "purchase completed" page wouldn't show up, I got an error message instead. However, I refreshed the page with the error message after a minute and then the process was completed and the games are on my account now. First time this has ever happened to me.

Which Blitzkreig is better would people say?
avatar
nijuu: Blitzkrieg Anthology, Fantasy Wars and Star Wolves my picks. Anything else worth getting?
Silent Storm (a must have for Jagged Alliance 2 fans) and Cryostasis (incredible, haunting atmosphere combined with a well told, ambiguous story make this slow-paced FPS a true gem worth experiencing - it's almost Silent Hill-ish at times) are two games you should definitely consider purchasing.
Congratulations and respect on the recovery of Perimeter and Soldiers. GOG carries the fire.

Blitzkrieg 1, without a shadow of a doubt.
Check out my "review" of B2 on the game's page if you're interested.
