Heroes of Might and Magic series, Assassin's Creed, Rayman Origins, FarCry 1 and 2, modern Prince of Persia games, and many more unforgettable Ubisoft titles 60% off

Welcome to our unbelievable [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/ubisoft_weekend_promo_020514]Unbelievably Ubi promo, celebrating one of the most unique modern game publishers: Ubisoft, famous for releasing original titles, full of pure gaming magic and memorable moments. This weekend you can get more than 40 Ubisoft titles 60% off. Amazing action-adventures in the ancient or medieval Middle East or dystopian future, first-person perspective shooters telling the stories of secret agents or special forces operatives stranded on dangerous islands, strategies set in fantastic lands, the distant future, or our very own mundane reality, colorful platformers, racing games, classic dungeon-crawling RPGs--all this and more waiting for you and tempting you with low, low prices. Let's put some titles in the spotlight, shall we?

Heroes of Might and Magic is a game series so prominent, that it surely needs no introduction. In fantasy turn-based strategies it's quite hard to find a match for this legendary saga that challenges our strategic and management skills since the year 1996. Based on the successful setting of the fan-favorite classic cRPG, Might and Magic, it achieved a great balance between accessibility and complexity that resonates perfectly with gamers. After all these years Heroes of Might and Magic 3: Complete Edition is still considered by many to be the perfect turn-based strategy title. Some fans, however, prefer the more modern Heroes of Might and Magic 5: Bundle, that takes the beloved mechanics into the beautiful realm of 3D graphics. That's only two titles, though. All of our Might and Magic games, strategy and RPG alike, can be found 60% off in the promo page.

is an iconic character and his platformer games entertained generations of gamers. As many other platformer series, his adventures also took a turn into the realm of 3D. They were quite successful at that, mind you, but there's something about the run-and-jump genre, that simply makes it work best in two dimensions. [url=http://www.gog.com/game/rayman_origins]Rayman Origins takes us back to the 2D roots of platformer gaming, and reminds us why this kind of graphics and this kind of gameplay is a perfect match. Plus, it introduces a lot of fresh ideas while doing so.

Far Cry and Far Cry 2: Fortune's Edition will take you on a dangerous voyage through breathtaking locations filled to the brim with dangerous foes and ruthless beasts. The first one released 10 years ago, those elaborate FPS titles were deemed revolutionary--not only in the graphics layer, but also for their huge open worlds allowing for semi-sandbox gameplay. Are you ready to face the tropical heat?

All of those Ubisoft games, and many more, can be yours for 60% off this weekend. Go to the Unbelievably Ubi to check out the details of this Unbelievably Ubi sale. The offer ends on Tuesday, May 6 at 3:59AM GMT. Don't miss out!

Ghorpm: I would like to draw your attention to the first Warlords Battlecry because part of its campaign is quite unique. You start as a neutral commander and after two chapters (several missions in each of them) you have to choose between the path of light and the path of darkness (two chapters each). While neutral and light parts are pretty much standard fantasy story the path of darkness is special. In most RTS games good and evil are a matter of convention: orcs are ugly and brutal therefore must be evil, elves are beautiful and honorable - good etc, etc. But actually both sides want to accomplish the same - eradicate the opponent. In Warlords Battlecry, however, if you choose the path of darkness you'll eventually become Evil and I mean Evil with a capital letter! And the story how it happens, step by step, is perfectly told! I won't say anything more because I don't want to spoil it but storywise it's one of my favorite RTS games ever (if not the very best one). That's a least my humble opinion, your experience might be different but for 2.39$ you don't risk that much.
While this is true and story wise it's interesting game, you also have to bear in mind that it is quite dated in gameplay and is surpassed by both sequels in that category. So if you don't want to play it for story, you should go with something newer.

Ghorpm: Any opinions about Imperialism games? Which one is better? Or perhaps they are significantly different and it would be advisable to get both?
avatar
Celton88: I have both imperialism games and really enjoy them both. I had Imp2 as a kid and so when Imp1 came out here I got it. I have to say, even with the nostalgia factor, I now prefer Imp1. Imperialism 2 has the added element of exploration and native tribes, but Imp1 does a better job of trade in my opinion. They are both a lot of fun though, and the graphics aged remarkably well.

I don't think you can go wrong with either, but my recommendation would be for Imp1. If you really like that check out the second game. Other than the exploration part of Imp2 I think they are pretty similar.
Thanks a lot! I think I'll get them both anyway, especially because I feel that my current gaming mood is changing (I've been playing mostly adventure games for almost two weeks) and Imperialism seems to be the type of a game that I would like to play next. But I'll start with Fragile Allegiance that I bought last week.
Mm.. for my wallet's sake, I'll consider only the cheapest titles in this promo.

What do you think:
- Rayman 2 or 3 or just wishlist Origins? (I loved the first one)
- Imperialism 1 or 2, both or none? (no idea about these. EDIT: thanks Celton88 for the info)
- Warlords Battlecry 1 or 2 or none? (these don't have great ratings like the previous Warlords games)

Oh my... This promo is a heaven...
How the hell can I still be finding old games on here I want? Every time I think I've combed to catalogue and made up my mind, a sale like this comes out and gets me to buy more. Granted, the first two of these were on my wishlist, but the rest were just because.

Crusaders of Might and Magic
Heroes Chronicles: All chapters
Far Cry 2: Fortune's Edition
Imperialism
Imperialism 2: The Age of Exploration
Warlords Battlecry
Warlords Battlecry 2

Well played, GOG.

That's definitely true but I would add that WB1 is still pretty solid and while sequels are more polished it's definitely not unplayable nor barely playable like many other old RTS games.

Another two games will be soon off my wishlist.

Guess I'll be holding off on Far Cry, after the advise I got from the last promo :)

Dzsono: Now Ubi needs to strip Uplay off everything else for the ultimate catalogue :)
I agree, but when talking to Ubi you need to be more clear. Now Ubi needs to strip all DRM off their entire catalog, otherwise they will remove Uplay and put Starforce, Securom, Tages, and who knows what else back on.

I have not purchased a single Ubi game from anywhere but GOG since just before Assassins Creed 1 was released, due to their DRM practices.
I've got say that Ubisoft is certainly my favourite "mainstream" games publisher around. They certainly have many of the shortcomings of large publishers (Uplay, "safe" gameplay design) but they keep turning out some great games that I often find compelled to buy at release
Does anyone have any thoughts on Battle Isle? Looks interesting, missed it on my first promo-buy-spree but it does look very good money-value wise.
Somehow having ten of these is not helping me not want many of the rest of them. I'm going to have to make a rule at some point about playing the games before I buy the moar games.

Question about Settlers 2: which is the better step, Gold or 10th Anniversary? I may try to sit this one out, but there's an awful lot of tempting stuff dangling off of that there GOG tree.
....wondering if any of the other splinter cell games will show up on GOG?...
Hmmm. When Ubisoft offers games that aren't wrapped in ridiculous layers of DRM, people are clamoring for them. Funny, that.Too bad it'd take people boycotting Assassin's Creed 5 through 167 for them to start getting the point.

Loved it on the Amiga, have it here too. Start with Battle Isle Platinum (with Incubation) if this kind of game appeals to you.

And if you do enjoy it, don't forget later down the line that the title Battle World: Kronos continues the Battle Isle experience in a new format.
Heh, heh I've just tested whether Imperialism games work (they do) and the first thing that got my attention is how badly designed is the menu in the first game (screenshot). The biggest element, right in the center of the screen - a door - which serves as a quit command. Hilarious! :D

They did correct it in the second game though ;)
