Heroes of Might and Magic series, Assassin's Creed, Rayman Origins, FarCry 1 and 2, modern Prince of Persia games, and many more unforgettable Ubisoft titles 60% off

Welcome to our unbelievable [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/ubisoft_weekend_promo_020514]Unbelievably Ubi promo, celebrating one of the most unique modern game publishers: Ubisoft, famous for releasing original titles, full of pure gaming magic and memorable moments. This weekend you can get more than 40 Ubisoft titles 60% off. Amazing action-adventures in the ancient or medieval Middle East or dystopian future, first-person perspective shooters telling the stories of secret agents or special forces operatives stranded on dangerous islands, strategies set in fantastic lands, the distant future, or our very own mundane reality, colorful platformers, racing games, classic dungeon-crawling RPGs--all this and more waiting for you and tempting you with low, low prices. Let's put some titles in the spotlight, shall we?

Heroes of Might and Magic is a game series so prominent, that it surely needs no introduction. In fantasy turn-based strategies it's quite hard to find a match for this legendary saga that challenges our strategic and management skills since the year 1996. Based on the successful setting of the fan-favorite classic cRPG, Might and Magic, it achieved a great balance between accessibility and complexity that resonates perfectly with gamers. After all these years Heroes of Might and Magic 3: Complete Edition is still considered by many to be the perfect turn-based strategy title. Some fans, however, prefer the more modern Heroes of Might and Magic 5: Bundle, that takes the beloved mechanics into the beautiful realm of 3D graphics. That's only two titles, though. All of our Might and Magic games, strategy and RPG alike, can be found 60% off in the promo page.

is an iconic character and his platformer games entertained generations of gamers. As many other platformer series, his adventures also took a turn into the realm of 3D. They were quite successful at that, mind you, but there's something about the run-and-jump genre, that simply makes it work best in two dimensions. [url=http://www.gog.com/game/rayman_origins]Rayman Origins takes us back to the 2D roots of platformer gaming, and reminds us why this kind of graphics and this kind of gameplay is a perfect match. Plus, it introduces a lot of fresh ideas while doing so.

Far Cry and Far Cry 2: Fortune's Edition will take you on a dangerous voyage through breathtaking locations filled to the brim with dangerous foes and ruthless beasts. The first one released 10 years ago, those elaborate FPS titles were deemed revolutionary--not only in the graphics layer, but also for their huge open worlds allowing for semi-sandbox gameplay. Are you ready to face the tropical heat?

All of those Ubisoft games, and many more, can be yours for 60% off this weekend. Go to the Unbelievably Ubi to check out the details of this Unbelievably Ubi sale. The offer ends on Tuesday, May 6 at 3:59AM GMT. Don't miss out!

MichiGen: If only Ubisoft would release some newer stuff..., it's been a while since they've released something not so old like Far Cry 2, AC 1, Rayman Origins.

What about Dark Messiah, Assassin's Creed 2, Splinter Cell series, Call of Juarez, Anno, Driver: San Francisco, From Dust, Trackmania, please?
Dark Messiah should come here at some point, I'd think. As for the other games, I'm not aware of any game that mandated Uplay and later came here without it, so I wouldn't hold my breath.

Thank you Ghorpm : )

zeffyr: I'd go with the original one first. Game mechanics is almost identical, they pretty much differ in graphics only. But the 1996 version has more Settlers aura than any other part of the series :) I fell in love with this game over 15 years ago and I can say that this game hasn't aged at all.

kbear99: It seems that Settlers I and II were the most popular of the series. I think I'll settle on II. Does the 10th Ann. edition come with the Mission CD expansion like the Gold edition?
I was writing about Settlers 2 (1996) as 'the original one' - compared to the '10th anniversary edition' (2006) :-)

GOG's version of 10th an. edition doesn't include expansion pack (it was called 'Vikings'), as the expansion wasn't released in English.

Agreed, I and II are very beautiful and still very playable.

Based on the wishlist, personally I'd say yes to DM, AC2, SC series, Anno (classic titles), and Driver 1. However, more important to me is GOG (finally, after 3-4 years) figuring out a way to bring Hasbro and Ubisoft together for the AD&D Gold Box games to be re-released, or Cyan and Ubisoft together for Myst 3 & 4.

EDIT: And, of course, Albion...

Ophelium: I don't have a backlog, I have the backlog. I'm 20 games shy of 400 and I have a bit more than that left on my wishlist.
I.... I... I...

I humbly request forgiveness. It was presumptuous of me to think I had a large backlog when in reality mine is just a puny Chihuahua next to your Great Dane! Mercy!
Gonna pass on this one since i already spent enough money.
Was tempting though, especially Rayman Origins even though i already have it in physical version for PS3.

Cave in. :D
Hey GOG, how come the supplemental manuals for Warlords Battlecry 3 aren't included in the extras? They're still available from Enlight's site:

Hero Creation
Spells
Units

Of course people can download them themselves (for now), but that requires that people actually know about them in the first place.

Also I thought there were some mods created by Infinite Interactive (battle report scenarios?), but I can't find a link anywhere. (I still have the WBC3_BattleReport_Scenarios.zip file though.)

***

And in trying to find a link to that, I find out those crazy folks have been working on a stand-alone WBC3 mod for a couple years now (which people can download and try right now -- I think I'll have to at least try out a skirmish this weekend). Links: I2 thread, download page, gog thread

BTW, play all of the WBC games. The hero creation works very differently in all 3 of them. The campaign works very different in all 3 of them. (IIRC 1's campaign is more story based. 2's is a simple "turn based" 3x game (4x sans exploration) where holding territories provides bonus in the RTS/skirmish mode. 3's goes for a more cRPG-ish feel with travel, shops, choices, and of course battles.)

For me 2 has the best campaign, 3 the best skirmish, 1 or 2 (not sure which) the best hero development, and the demo for 1 the most fun I've ever had killing things from the sky with giggling flyers. (OK, leveled-up sprites were a wee bit overpowered in the demo, but it was fun.)
Count me in as another person clamoring for Dark Messiah (which I have on Steam, but would purchase again here... and this discussion has me re-installing it) and AC. Haven't played or purchased any AC beyond the first because of the DRM.

I couldn't agree more regarding the Gold Box games, i just started playing them this year as part of my "play every D&D crpg in roughly chronological order" New Years Resolution. Already played the "Pools" and "Savage Frontier" games. I own them as part of a Forgoten Realms compilation published way back by Interplay. But of course it does not have the 3 Krynn games. They work faultlessly in DOSBOX too, but GOG would need to make character transfer easier between games IMHO.
If that Ubi/Hasbro thing could be sorted then i assume it would also open the way to a lot of other old SSI published games as well? My picks Steel Panthers, Great Naval Battles, early 5 Star General games...

You do have to wonder why they aren't here already?.Is it that hard to get both of them to agree a price/contract etc? (you'd have to think both have done pretty well out of the stuff they already have on GOG).

For those of us who don't really know much about Settlers and Rayman, which one from each franchise on here would be the ideal one's to get ?

Actually I think Ubisoft and Hasbro wouldn't need to get together for non-D&D SSI games. Ubisoft has the SSI properties and we already have (at least) four SSI games here - http://www.gog.com/game/panzer_general_2 and http://www.gog.com/game/panzer_general_3d_assault, as well as the two World of Aden games not published by Ubisoft.

It's anyone's guess why numerous other DOS SSI titles aren't here yet - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Strategic_Simulations,_Inc._games. There are numerous wishlist votes - http://www.gog.com/wishlist/games#search=general&order=votes_total - so my guess is the rights' situation is messy and something we consumers don't know about.

Probably. You've got two heavy-hitters and a bunch of significantly old games that they might not care all that much about.

I think I'll snag: Splinter Cell, Silent Hunter 2, and Driver. Oh, okay, maybe Battle Isle too! XD
I can see clearly now that nobody's wallet is really truly safe when each new promo comes out. :P
