Get Thief, Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Soul Reaver, and more Square Enix titles 50% off!

If you read the tagline, what more is there really to add? Our [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/square_enix_weekend_promo_080213]Ultimate Square Enix promo offers you the chance to get games from some of the most exciting series with a nice 50% off discount. Square Enix catalog features some of the most impressive gems in the GOG.com offer. Titles that evoke memories and emotions in thousands and thousands of gamers. The character cast of the Square Enix stable alone is impressive enough to make one's heart race. If GOG.com had a red carpet, celebrities such as Lara Croft, Garret the Master Thief, Agent 47, Kain and Raziel, and JC Denton would arrive to walk it on a limousine marked by Square Enix logo. Let's take a quick look at the featured games, shall we?

Lara Croft is the ever-shining star of the Tomb Raider series. Lately her character has undergone some major changes. Here, we give you a chance to spend some quality time with good--erm--classic Lara. Tomb Raider 1+2+3, Tomb Raider: Last Revelation + Chronicles, and Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness sum up all of the miss Croft's early career, for only $4.99 each!

Yet another hero who is a fan of property re-assignment concept, Garret the Thief is now preparing a big return. On GOG.com you can catch up wit all of his adventures, as long as you can keep up with him, as he silently moves through the shadows. Thief Gold, Thief 2: The Metal Age, and Thief 3: The Deadly Shadows let you experience the life of a thievery archmaster, for only $4.99 each!

Also preferring to keep a low-profile, Agent 47 is the main character of the Hitman series. The newest game featuring the bald assassin brought a lot of new ideas to the table, and not all of them met with gamers' appreciation. We give you first two classic Hitman games: Hitman: Codename 47 for only $2.99 and Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, for only $4.99!

That's only a small taste of the Square Enix title you can get 50% off this weekend. Head out to our Ultimate Square Enix promo page, to check out the whole offer!

Below, you'll find a new episode of This Week on GOG, a short video guide to recent events, promos, and other happenings on the site. By the way, if you haven't already, you might want to follow the GOG.com channel on Youtube, so you won't miss our shows, specials, and exclusive trailers.

crazy_dave: Licurg's behavior wasn't being condoned, however, the negativity of it wasn't being addressed either as much as TET was pointing out that Licurg hadn't actually made a death threat, two such incidents in 3 months don't qualify as harassment of Licurg towards gameon, and that gameon engaged Licurg in this particular instance. That said, the addressing of behavior should have been more even-handed (Licurg should be dissuaded from making ... community poisoning comments like this) and the whole thing should've been done by PM as TET admitted was his mistake on both counts.
Yes, I understand what you mean. And I didn't mean to imply TET had any bad intention. It's just how the post came across as it focused mostly on one person, as you mentioned. The two posts I linked above actually didn't have anything to do with gameon. They were different situations on top of those already mentioned.

I tried to PM you, but for some reason clicking PM takes me to my account page. Same thing if I click "Messages" in the header bar. Do people need a certain rep to send and receive PMs?

Maybe we should have a separate thread to discuss this, so as to not distract from the promo discussion.

kromcita: Quoting this because I think it bears relevance to the discussion.

Vitek - I think people were upset with TET's response because it didn't seem to approach the situation objectively, and Gameon's comment about being paranoid about Uwe Boll in another thread was extrapolated to imply he had some kind of mental illness. I don't know the history of Gameon in other threads, but it was unsettling that Licurg's comments were largely condoned, when his overreaction and statements were far worse than what Gameon had said. Not to mention that Licurg has posted like this on multiple occasions.

Honestly though: this is just another sign that as the GOG forums are not tightly moderated that they also really need an ignore user button. We can block PMs and some users need to block themselves from seeing the posts of other users.

This has only gotten 90 votes, even I hadn't voted for it before. But with an incident like this (and this is not the only one - although the last kerfuffle was awhile ago), I really think GOG needs to implement this:

http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/allow_us_to_set_certain_forum_members_to_ignore

So please vote for the above, it would help forumers who need to stay away from each other, stay away.

So .... promo?
I don't think people need a button to help them act like adults. They simply need to act like adults. The drama in this thread was ridiculous. It is disappointing to see it still going on, on page 11 of a thread that should be about the weekend sale and nothing but the weekend sale and the games in it.

Come on guys.

Back to the topic at hand. I had most of the Square Enix stuff from the sale either on here or Steam but I did miss getting Startopia in the winter sale. I just picked that one up. Yay! Thanks GOG!

Normally I would completely agree ... but some people are literally not adults on the forum, they actually are kids and ... sometimes, well sometimes two forumers I think just need the ignore button for each other :/

I have to admit this is an insanely great promo, even though I have too many game already, I'm tempted. :)

Actually I think the PM system is just a bit on the fritz, someone else mentioned problems with it. As far as I know, there is no rep limit or other restrictions to PMs unless the person you are trying to PM blocks you or turns off PMs. I have done neither. :)

Well, that was different... in dealing with social issues on most forums, the offending posts just get modded or deleted, and applicable parties get sat down like they're back in summer camp via PM... I've not seen a "hands off" approach before... I find it interesting, because many grown adults are incapable of regulating themselves in a conflict... The world would be a different place if the trigger events of World War 1 didn't send so many people over the edge...

Also, I'm a bit curious as to Poland's history... I've heard they were on the front lines of the major clashes in World War 2, between Berlin and Moscow... One of the residents of the Assisted Living home I volunteer at fled from Poland with his family, at about that time...

Well it's not quite the wild west around here ... just almost - people have gotten banned and things do get modded, you just have to really work for it (or do it in a thread title). I'm not actually sure that the GOG forums have any more blow ups than other more regulated forums do, but I've come to the opinion that an ignore button would help the "self-regulation".

In the realm of major company forums, I'm not sure there's anything worse than the Blizzard forums...

Ha! :) I was on those once. Those could get interesting ... especially Battle.net in the old days pre-SCII. Those forums got spam blasted like no other. And trolls wrecked havoc every so often - like literally causing the a forum to go into conniptions about MBS versus SBS. It was actually impressive in a sad sort of way. Out of curiosity, does that still happen?

Still there were some interesting/fun conversations on that forum ... some of them even had to do with the game in question. :P

To be honest, even accounting for the occasional blow up like the one is this thread, overall this is still the best internet forum community I've ever seen. The bar is pretty low of course, but even so ...

I disagree. They can behave in an acceptable manner or face the consequences if they are incapable of that. And everybody else certainly doesn't have to jump in and contribute to the drama as was seen here. As TET himself mentioned, they do monitor if issues are ongoing and are willing to step in if warnings are not enough. Therefore, I believe we can do without more buttons.

You know what happens with buttons like that? Then you get threads where people who cannot see other people's comments make comments in the dark and are then alerted the discussion was not clear to them because they missed the context given by the blocked posters comments and so on which ultimately just leads to more drama and bullshit.

I maintain, people need to grow up. If they have difficulty with that and are warned and still cannot do it, then they need moderation to whatever degree the mods here see fit. The rest of us would do well to mind our own collective fucking business. And that is just my take on recent drama in general.

By the way crazy_dave, I know you are a very nice guy. Please don't take my irritation as being in any way directed at you. I just get tired of this kind of crap sometimes. It's like being in an MMO guild again, the home of drama.

I guess I can see that happen too, but only if use of it gets out of hand ... I mean in this instance, much of this could've been avoided if licurg and gameon hadn't even seen each other's responses. But maybe you're right and it's overkill. I used to think so, now I'm not quite so sure.

Where are the Final Fantasy *7 & 8 to be specific* ?
I wonder what tomorrow's GOG forum drama will be? I found this episode to be way over dramatised.
In a low voice:

Forget the drama...

Create your own...

In Tomb Raider 1, 2, 3!

In all seriousness, we all have days we are not at our best.

Edit to remove code.

Huh, my ninja skills must have improved.

Didn't redeem it though, so it's still up for grabs.
