Get Thief, Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Soul Reaver, and more Square Enix titles 50% off!

If you read the tagline, what more is there really to add? Our [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/square_enix_weekend_promo_080213]Ultimate Square Enix promo offers you the chance to get games from some of the most exciting series with a nice 50% off discount. Square Enix catalog features some of the most impressive gems in the GOG.com offer. Titles that evoke memories and emotions in thousands and thousands of gamers. The character cast of the Square Enix stable alone is impressive enough to make one's heart race. If GOG.com had a red carpet, celebrities such as Lara Croft, Garret the Master Thief, Agent 47, Kain and Raziel, and JC Denton would arrive to walk it on a limousine marked by Square Enix logo. Let's take a quick look at the featured games, shall we?

Lara Croft is the ever-shining star of the Tomb Raider series. Lately her character has undergone some major changes. Here, we give you a chance to spend some quality time with good--erm--classic Lara. Tomb Raider 1+2+3, Tomb Raider: Last Revelation + Chronicles, and Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness sum up all of the miss Croft's early career, for only $4.99 each!

Yet another hero who is a fan of property re-assignment concept, Garret the Thief is now preparing a big return. On GOG.com you can catch up wit all of his adventures, as long as you can keep up with him, as he silently moves through the shadows. Thief Gold, Thief 2: The Metal Age, and Thief 3: The Deadly Shadows let you experience the life of a thievery archmaster, for only $4.99 each!

Also preferring to keep a low-profile, Agent 47 is the main character of the Hitman series. The newest game featuring the bald assassin brought a lot of new ideas to the table, and not all of them met with gamers' appreciation. We give you first two classic Hitman games: Hitman: Codename 47 for only $2.99 and Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, for only $4.99!

That's only a small taste of the Square Enix title you can get 50% off this weekend. Head out to our Ultimate Square Enix promo page, to check out the whole offer!

Below, you'll find a new episode of This Week on GOG, a short video guide to recent events, promos, and other happenings on the site. By the way, if you haven't already, you might want to follow the GOG.com channel on Youtube, so you won't miss our shows, specials, and exclusive trailers.

BadDecissions: Ten pages of comments? This promo must be pretty popu...

Ivory&Gold: Ten pages? Someone needs to change his Posts per topic page setting!
I hadn't realized I could change my posts per topic setting; that is indeed an improvement, and the only good thing to come out of this stupid thread.
Finally, bought Legacy of Kain:Defiance & Blood Omen2 and completed the saga of Kain!!!

....expect the 1st Blood Omen. GOG please bring it to us!

I wouldnt mind that either but as far as I remember its SNOWED under a mountain of legal issues :(
I'm seriously staring at my cart and wondering if I should really buy all this. It's sooooooo hard to decide!

011284mm: Having the LEGACY OF KAIN series that is here so far is really good. Yet I just want to ask what is holding up the original Blood Omen being added here too?
Was is not owned by the same people?
avatar
DCT: According to a post waaay back it seems there is licensing issues, probably having to do with the fact that BO 1 was made by Silicon Knights and Published by Activision so it's possible that either or owns the rights to the PC version.
Unfortunately that really does sound quite normal for the weird world logic surrounding older games. A real shame, I remember the demo I had, and it would be really nice to see it here on GOG.
Anyway thanks for the info, I can now only hope that GOG and their army of ninja lawyers can get Blood Omen along with all those other great games they are working to get on here (Tomb Raider golds please).
Are the Legacy of Kain games any good? Which are your favorites?
What the hell is going on here? Too much drama over few words, IMO.

PenutBrittle: Thank you TheEnigmaticT, for convincing me to stop buying games from GOG. Seems counterproductive from a marketing perspective, but job well done.

Gameon didn't ask for police proceedings or a harassment lawsuit (terrific straw man, by the way, absolutely stellar), he just wanted someone to step in. And you settle for passive aggression and insults. Classy, for sure. I noticed gameon's avatar has gone and his title has been replaced. I would be surprised to see him back here; how many more customers do you want to chase away just so folks like Licurg can continue being miserable towards everyone?
...
I think I can understand TET's position toward gameon bit more, because I probably know more than you about some background stuff. Gameon is quite a drama queen, who takes every comment too personally and I know he turned to TET or Judas several times and asked them to ban or punish some people, even for minor "offenses". In the incident I experienced he asked them to ban someone because that someone called him dick for intentionally disturbing mafia game just because he got upset with mod and maybe even me when I called him idiot and said I can't just watch him do this. And from what I gathered around forum, it wasn't the first or last time he PM'ed mods with something "very important", so I can imagine TET being bit tired of him.
And I think I saw him leave the forum at least 2 times before.

With this said, I totally don't approve Licurg's behaviour and would be glad if he left this forum and if gameon returned, but I don't really see too much problem with TET's response and think some of you are bit too dramatic and trying to unnecessarily interpret it in the worst possible way.

avatar
Telika: I'd disagree with him for seeming to adress his post to Gameon more than to Licurg (for now I'm under the impression Gameon is the nicest one of both), but that's not immensely important.
That's not hard thing to accomplish.

Btw. This is great promo. I bought Blood Omen II to complete my LoK collection.

Quoting this because I think it bears relevance to the discussion.

Vitek - I think people were upset with TET's response because it didn't seem to approach the situation objectively, and Gameon's comment about being paranoid about Uwe Boll in another thread was extrapolated to imply he had some kind of mental illness. I don't know the history of Gameon in other threads, but it was unsettling that Licurg's comments were largely condoned, when his overreaction and statements were far worse than what Gameon had said.

I was gone today while all this happened, so I'm going to sum up my feelings with this.

I am glad TET apologized in the end. I hope the people this effected will at least see that. If they decide to return or not is up to them.

That said, this is a pretty good promo.

I don't know the history of Gameon in other threads, but it was unsettling that Licurg's comments were largely condoned, when his overreaction and statements were far worse than what Gameon had said. Not to mention that Licurg has posted like this on multiple occasions.
Licurg's behavior wasn't being condoned, however, the negativity of it wasn't being addressed either as much as TET was pointing out that Licurg hadn't actually made a death threat, two such incidents in 3 months don't qualify as harassment of Licurg towards gameon, and that gameon engaged Licurg in this particular instance. That said, the addressing of behavior should have been more even-handed (Licurg should be dissuaded from making ... community poisoning comments like this) and the whole thing should've been done by PM as TET admitted was his mistake on both counts.

Honestly though: this is just another sign that as the GOG forums are not tightly moderated that they also really need an ignore user button. We can block PMs and some users need to block themselves from seeing the posts of other users.

This has only gotten 90 votes, even I hadn't voted for it before. But with an incident like this (and this is not the only one - although the last kerfuffle was awhile ago), I really think GOG needs to implement this:

http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/allow_us_to_set_certain_forum_members_to_ignore

So please vote for the above, it would help forumers who need to stay away from each other, stay away.

So .... promo?

I remember reading about Soul Reaver 1 & 2 for the Playstation, WAY back in the day. I mostly only rented games at the time though, as a kid... It will be interesting to finally try these out! I played a little of the first Blood Omen back before the PS2 was released; definitely a more daunting title to a youngling. It's story deserves the M rating, most kids wouldn't want to stick it out.
high rated
Damn, of all people why it's TET again has to be the bigger man? Just because he's a mod doesn't mean he's the judge and jury, and this whole drama was avoidable.

TET handling this situation in very professional and mature manners, without taking sides. Also, you have to understand the crap he handle everything from this forum to his real-life. Being a marketing guy isn't easy. This is not the first time he has to dug deep and explain every single of his decision in details due to gameon super insistence, see "Uwe Boll" thread for example.

Maybe GOG.com current moderation style is already outdated. The community used to be fine, but countless drama like this convince me GOG.com need to be slightly ruthless.

Again, it sad this thread which supposed to be a celebration was derailed just because these two can't settle their virtual difference somewhere else, and TET for being a casualty.

wormholewizards:
Could not have said it better.

People here need to grow up. We're here to buy games and talk about them, not start pointless flame wars and devolve into... whatever happens at the places that I avoid.

Also, for relevance, get the Thief series. There was someone who was on the fence about Anachronox, get it.
Good stuff.
Much ado about nothing.
Poor TET.
Being portrayed as a villain.

And that is a death threat?
I've seens worse stuff than those.
Some people are really overly sensitive these days.
Must be all the shootings.
