Strangely, I've never played a single game included in this sale. I'm going to go sit in the corner now.
Awesome promo, bunch of games I want to get, definitely more than I'm going to be able to buy, so I'm going to have to think about which ones I'll get. Really enjoying these recent sales. Kinda wish I'd missed this one instead of the Activision one though... x_x

You mean you'll just sit there being ashamed of yourself, while this promo provides the _perfect_ situation to remedy the situation? ;)

I've only planed HoMM 4 (and loathed it), so don't feel too bad.

xep624: Hopefully their hearts will change and one day I would like to see Heroes 6...
Somehow I find that an unlikely prospect. As far as I can recall, doesn't HoMM 6 use some online mechanics a la Diablo 3 (just on a lower scope) that require some of the necessary game content to be accessed from one of Ubi's servers during play?

Ouch. Unfortunately, you picked the worst game of the entire franchise.

Once I feel that I've punished myself long enough, I'll consider trying to remedy the situation. I should at least give HoMM 3 a try, correct?

If you like strategy games with fantasy/RPG elements, then yes, absolutely. :)
M&M.

Yes.
Just acquired an additional 5 bucks I might throw into this promo. It's tempting to pick up M&M VII and VIII just so I can have every M&M game that's not IX, but that's a bit too much M&M to get all at once. I'll probably go for HOMM3. Possibly Splinter Cell, but probably HOMM3.

EDIT: A ton of thanks to mistermumbles for gifting me HOMM3. I need to find one of your posts so I can give you a +1! :)

I just grabbed the first Driver - Parallel Lines and Far Cry... I heard the second one isn't that good so I skipped it. However, I'm always up for a good racing game.

I'm getting sick of Test Drive 5... have been playing it all week. Not to mention you don't even sell it here. My old copy is getting rusty. Who owns the rights to the Test Drive series now? Accolade is defunct.

JMich: Preparation for the 4 year celebration or something.
But I would rather assume that GOG keeps such big promos for the event itself and not before.. Jeez...Ubisoft, Activision, Square Enix, Atari, D&D in a row ..Plus we are just 2 months before Christmas promo...I wonder what are they up to?

I like it a bit less, but they hardly compare. The styles are very different, on almost all levels. The only thing they have in common is that surprisingly rare freedom of approach of the enemies. Still, I was heavily prejudiced against Far Cry 2, and it's much more enjoyable than it's said to be. People complain that there is a lot of boring travels to mission locations, AND complain about respawning baddies in the numerous checkpoints along the way. For me, these compensate each other, and I suppose that's what it was meant to. Freedom also means that there's a "toy" aspect to it. You can find it boring if you focus on the destination more than the journey, but it gives you everything to enjoy varied gunfights and chases, if you're a bit in a GTA mindset. In that sense, it's way less linear than Far Cry 2.

I guess it's a very subjective matter of balance, between freedoms, direction, variety, etc. There's all there in their own specific degrees, and while many can find them too limited or too constraining, that precise mix works rather well on me.

Plus, it sounds like this.

So, in my eyes, it's a vastly underrated game. But I came to it after its possible original overratedness had been harshly denounced. It's no STALKER, but still, I almost missed it out because of these underratings, and I turned out very pleasantly surprised by it. So, just in case, be careful not to make the same mistake.

Telika:
Far Cry 2 is all about the journey. It's insane, and relentlessly batters you into submission, but I feel like that only strengthens the bleakness of the situation.

I doubt I will have any cash with which to partake in the Christmas promo...
Hiya folks. If I had to choose ONE might and magic game what would you recommend? I've never played one before but the strategy and fantasy appeals to me.

Thanks :-)
