Get Master of Orion 1-3, Alone in the Dark 1-4, KKND 1&2, and more endangered Atari classics 65% off!

Out of all gaming industry brands in existence, Atari always was one of the most recognizable and respectable. For over 40 years the name has became inseparably associated with unpretentious gaming fun. The amount of progress a single company can bring to an industry is simply astounding. From game cabinets to home consoles, from 8-bit classics to recent blockbusters, from engineering to publishing--the company was always in the center of it. It's unlikely there are many gamers who weren't saddened by the news of company's trouble. Whatever happens now, we should hope that it will emerge victorious once the dust settles, as it did numerous times before. Gaming legends are forever, so today all there's left to say is: [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/atari_weekend_promo_120713]Thank you, Atari!

The entire Atari catalog on GOG.com is available 65% off. We're talking landmark titles like Master of Orion 1+2, Alone in the Dark 1+2+3, Total Annihilation: Commander Pack, Star Controll 1+2, and , among many others. Head out to the [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/atari_weekend_promo_120713]promo page, to see the entire selection. The offer lasts until Tuesday, July 16, at 3:59AM GMT. Don't miss out!

Valts007: Which is better/easier TA Kingdoms or TA Commander Pack? I dont know, buy both or not, because I have not played any game this series and I am not great rts games player.
Many players and critics consider Total Annihilation (the Commander Pack) to be the greatest RTS of all time. Food for thought.

Kingdoms... is a good game.

DodoGeo: For some reason my card was declined during the summer sale to get Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 on 75%off.

Fingers crossed it wil work now, when I get home, as it was the only game I was unable to buy for some reason.

grimwerk: Maybe this applies to you:
http://www.gog.com/news/2013_nodrm_summer_sale_thank_you

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Due to service downtime with one of our payment processing providers some of you couldn't complete your purchases on Monday, July 1st (between 7:46PM GMT and 9:18PM GMT). This was a worldwide issue affecting not only GOG.com users. The problem wasn't caused nor could it be fixed by us, but we're concerned with the fact that some of our customers missed out on our Monday offers.

We think that's unfair, so if you were one of those people, please contact our support. If your purchase failed during that time and your funds were frozen on your account, we will send you some free game codes to make up for your inconvenience.
Thanks, didn't notice that until now. It was really frustratng as other shops worked normal.

Just checked it out and it wasn't the 1st July, my problem was on the final day of the sale :/

kodeen: GOG, do you know something that we don't, or is this just a precautionary measure?
avatar
Bloodygoodgames: GOG has no way of knowing. It depends who buys each IP, and that won't be known until the auction which, I believe, is next week? It's not really a precautionary measure, though, as I think it's pretty much guaranteed some of these games will disappear once their new owners decide what to do with them.

Atari is asking $100,0000 to half a million dollars to over a million dollars for each IP, with them wanting at least $3.5 million for the Rollercoaster Tycoon. Your guess is as good as anyone else's as to who will buy them, if anyone does.

BTW, you can see minimum wanted bids for each IP here;

Curious the Independance War / I-War franchise I missing. Has someone already grabbed that IP? Or is it mixed in with the Atari Brand / Atari Classics?
Question, what happen if a game you bought is no longer sold by GOG?? Do you still have the chance to download it?? Do you get a refound?? Or is like... you better make a backup...

So far, all removed games remain available in your library to download. Only exception is the Mac version of Imperial Glory, since GOG didn't have the rights to sell it. If you do have a local backup though, it remains yours to do with as you like.

Crosmando: It sucks how this is happening now, and there's still quite a few MicroProse games still not on GOG which Atari should own
avatar
gandalf.nho: I agree, will love to see Transport Tycoon Deluxe here (Locomotion is a very poor substitute)
The OpenTTD surpass the original one and has a great dedicated improving community. Worth taking a looking.

I´m grabbing the Pirates. It´s the only Sid Meier´s title on GOG that I still don´t have (Sid, I´m a fan of yours LOL)
OP blah blah blah
You guys know that this Atari wasn't the same company as the Atari, right? This Atari was Infogrames.

Fred_DM: the Atari of today is Infogrames, not the Atari which has brought gaming forward. and Infogrames doesn't exactly deserve thanks for basically running the Atari brand into the ground.
Wellll, Atari ran the Atari brand into the ground. That's how Infogrames got hold of it! I'm guessing the same thing will happen again now.

Drat, I've been waiting for GoG to be able to sell RCT3 for Macs instead of buying it on GameAgent. Here's hoping whomever snags the IPs lets GoG keep them in their catalogue.

Hmmm. Between Darklands, Pirates, and Master of Orion which would you say was an absolute must play?
Not a single post about "the best game no one played"? (Moonbase Commander) Sad :(

Isn't that a tower defense game? I am sick of them.
I highly recommend Darklands. Very underappreciated RPG that's kinda the precursor of games like Mount&Blade. It definitely has flaws, mainly in some obvious repetitiveness after a while and the obligatory clunkiness, but it's still good. Also, great setting and the character creation system is brilliant.

It's irrelevant. If Atari goes (modern Atari) and its assets all go to other companies and no one buys Atari as a name, the name will be gone from active duty for good.

Yes there was a break in the 90's when Atari was not used at all, but, if all IP go to other companies, why would anyone buy the name Atari without its games? So, the result will be (could be) to lose the name Atari from usage.

Nope, it's a turn-based strategy game with some interactivity (ie you have to manually aim and control distance)

Zombie brand, why not? Happens all the time with car manufacturers and luxury items.

The game you want is on sale for 10 bucks now on Steam. I'd advise picking it up there while the getting is good. I doubt we'll see that one go any lower any time soon. There is a lot of great stuff for Mac on sale currently on Steam if you do not already use it.
