zaine-h: It's probably too late to ask but which of the RPGs is better? Silver, Spellforce, or Gothic 2? How are the mechanics in each?

Briareos262: I dunno, probably all good in their own way. I'm sure you'll figure it out, cheers! Check your PM ^_^

park_84: The Guild games don't need to be played in any order, do they? In that case, which one would you recommend?

I just discovered GOG today following some reviews over at Smoke *ahem*,where I was looking at Gothic 2.

Wow am I glad I did! Gothic 2 Gold successfully acquired...as well as Gothic 3, Spellforce Platinum, Spellforce 2...

Was so pleased with this honeymoon gift from my new lover GOG that I bought Baldur's Gate I & II as well (even though I could get the Enhance Edition of #1 right now for the same price as BG: Complete). It just feels right GOG baby ;).

Only bummer is that I still need to get Gothic 1...but I figure I can enjoy it as a "prequel" later after playing the latter two.

Now I have some mods to find and put to good use, Merry Christmas!

Yes, you can: the developers used the "memory loss" escamotage in Gothic 2, allowing new players to hear a summary of the previous adventures of the nameless hero each time he interacted with (the many) known characters from the first title.
While not having played the first will not ruin your experience of the second, the other way around may definitley be irritating: I still recommend you to play Gothic 1 before 2, as the contrary will undoubtedly spoil some surprises.

I'm a sucker for cheap games. Bought the lot and probably wont play any of them.

Play at least Gothic 2 and The Guild. The rest I've also bought on a whim. My CC is weeping :/
Thanks to everyone who helped convince me to pick up the Spellforce series alongside The Guild series :)

I already owned many of the other suggestions like Full Spectrum Warrior from the previous Nordic going away sale, so I'm glad I was able to get a couple more from the Nordic catalogue before they're gone in 1-2 hours :)

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all! ^^
There's about an hour left...

I hope this comes back again, perhaps permanently later...

Why is the first Gothic not included in the sale?

Ah okay thanks. I can't decide if I should get get the desperado, spellforce, gothic, and guild games or buy the whole pack. I already own the full spectrum warrior games. Are the other games must haves or just mediocre?

If you like the Commandos series then Desperados 1 is a must have. Personally, I like Desperados 1 more than the Commandos series. It has fantastic atmosphere, characters and level designs. You should avoid the sequel according to the reviews.

Spellforce 1 (Platinum) is a good RPG-RTS mix I played it a lot 10 years ago. But I didn't finish it because it was a little bit hard to me. Nice little gem if you ask me. I don't know the sequels. I'm hesitating to get Spellforce Platinum here on GOG.

But look around here in this topic because many people have expressed their opinions, for example: link

This was a great sale, hopefully Nordic reconciles with GOG. But at 90% off, maybe they should just be coming back like this. : D

But before they go and to spread holiday cheer, here is the final Christmas free key giveaway.

It's the DARKFALL SERIES 1&2 for those who like adventuring in scary places.

Complete the missing password letters with the letters from the song Last Christmas.

The two missing letters are the first letters of the twelfth and second word of the song.

Enjoy! I guess that means that the second game Darkfall 2 is still on the key. So look for it.

Edit: Both redeemed now.
