yogsloth: I'm looking for some advice - I've stockpiled a ton of codes, but I can't help but feel I should grab a few more to help people out who by chance just aren't around this weekend.

Which titles does everyone think will be the most popular? The Gothic series for sure. Spellforce series. What else?
avatar
Grargar: The first Desperados, Painkiller, the first Red Faction, Silver and Summoner, I would say.
I agree with these. Plus I'd throw in Guild 2: Renaissance.

Personally I also like to have the Aquanox keys on tap, but they don't seem as popular.

hucklebarry: I'm confused. I thought Nordic only pulled some games? Sounds like all games will be gone after this?

That makes me sad. The timing is also bad for me as I can't show Nordic support during this season. Hopefully they will come back in the future, even if its another temporary promo.

Thanks for the sale.
The reverse. Nordic pulled 32 games from sale and left 3 here during September. After the end of this sale, the 32 will be pulled again and the 3 will remain.

One sad thing about this promo is that it shows GoG and Nordic probably did put some real effort into finding a way to get the catalog back for sale... and failed. This is the breakup sex.

I still think this is testing the waters. If the response is positive enough, then GOG can justify bringing the titles back as regional priced, citing that public demand outweighed concerns about revision pricing of classics.

Tallima: I've only played Spellforce 1. From what I've played (it's a huge, huge game and I haven't come close to beating it), it feels like the story is what propels the gameplay. But it's nothing to really write home about. I haven't played the game in a year and I honestly can't remember what it was about anymore. Oops. :)

But you'll have fun tackling hordes of bad guys or getting an elite group to push through and wreak havoc on an enemy. And trying to cast a certain spell in a panic, hoping that SOME of you guys might live.

Cyraxpt: Yeah, i've been reading the answers here, the "more than 100 hours" turns me off since i don't to waste that amount of time in a single game and considering that it's a rts, i'm having bad flashbacks from Heroes of Annihilated Empires where the game just cheated against you by sending infinite hords of enemies against you while you had to do the usual stuff (build base, gather resources, upgrade base and troops, recruit troops, etc), this was a reallllllllllllllllllly long process and boring since you would end up losing most of the troops defending the base. Urgh, why did i buy that crap...
I'm an unusual game connoisseur. I like to try new things. So for a few dollars, I don't think my money was wasted at all with the game. But I've spent far better gaming money in my day.

I liked it good enough that I'm going to try Spellforce 2 for the cheap price being offered. And I'm a stingy git. :)
So what are everyone's thoughts on the Dark Fall games? Are they worth getting? 89 cents each is pretty tempting.
Remember the wishlist items if you want to vote: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site#search=nordic&order=votes_total

- "Bring back Nordic and Frictional with the Fair Price Package if necessary!"

- "Do not bring back Nordic and Frictional games if it means even more regional pricing!"
So, the games that will be pulled from the catalogue again won't be patched or receive updates like additional extras and/or language packs in the future? They're basically a product with crippled service?

ThomNG: Just enjoy this special promotion GOG and we decided to do as a Christmas gift.

Just as the question has occured: the 3 titles which have not disappeared - The Book of Unwritten Tales, The Critter Chronicles and The Raven - will stay live even after that promotion - I just wanted to have them included, so that you can enjoy the great KING Art titles at a great price for the next weeks until The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 will be released. The rest of the catalogue will again go offline after this sale.

Hope you like this option anyways.
Cheers & happy holidays in advance!
This is why Nordic needs to be on GOG. They actually come on to the forums from time to time and converse with us.
Blerghlblerghlblah...

There goes the credit card again. 113 games in my library now. @_@ Thankfully, it's the end of the year and we know how much we have left to spend on stuff before the new year comes with our plans of what to start working towards. ..and no, I'm not going to tell anywhere as to what that budget is because we'll get more games tossed on sale that interest us. :P

Grargar: Just for your info, the first Red Faction was released on Playstation 2 first.
Yeah, RF1 had a console port, but if I recall correctly, the PC version was made first and it was a lot better. With RF2, it's painfully obvious they started with consoles and then ported it to PC and it was terrible. It's a shame because Red Faction was a good series, and the only recent game that was any good was Red Faction 3.

Update: It looks like the RF1 PS2 version really was released first. But the PC version came in the same year in 2001. It's strange because RF2 also was on PS2, and both the PS2 and PC versions were terrible.

Thanks Thom, it is appreciated, in spite of all the kvetching (including mine).

I know this is an unanswerable question in this age of NDAs, but what would it take for Nordic to return to GOG for good, and to bring more titles here? In case you can't tell, we rather like having you around.

What is being crippled? You'll have the full, normal service that GoG gives all of its games.

Numerous games in the catalog aren't receiving patches or updates anymore. Purchasing with the expectation of getting additional extras or languages (unless such is explicitly part of the sale) seems unreasonable (to me, at least).

If the terms of the purchase aren't worth your money, then keep your money.

The negotiations are not going to stop,
and Nordic Games has a lot more titles available than just these 32 in question. ;)
