LeonardoCornejo: I think it would be a wise idea to buy at least one game as a way to show Nordic that we are willing to forgive them from leaving, even if they are coming back just for a while, that could motivate those greedy guys to stay for good.
And I would, if it'd motivate them to stay for good and flat priced and those 3 entries would become flat priced as well. Since those 3 aren't flat priced and them returning the entire catalog flat priced isn't in the books, no way.
What a curious promo. Come to a permanent agreement already! Sheesh!! I really would like to see GOG and Nordic to finally settle this as I would love to see the newer Red Factions, Titan Quest, and others come to GOG. But unless these two can figure out what the hell they're doing that ain't gonna happen. =/ Oh well. Finally nabbed RF Guerilla & Armageddon for a few bucks on Steam a few weeks ago when they were available for cheap since I'm still not getting my hopes up of ever seeing them here. Yet I'd love to be proven wrong!

Anyway... guess I'll pick up a few games I should have grabbed last time, but didn't for whatever reason, namely Gothic 2 & 3 and the two Black Mirrors. The only others of interest that I don't own already are The Guilds. So how different is Guild 1 and its sequel? Is one better than the other? As I understand it if I wanted Guild 2 I should just go for The Renaissance as it includes everything from the other two but with more and better features. Is that correct?

That's the general idea, though it doesn't have any tutorial to ease you in. You can, however, download a demo of the game that works as a tutorial.

rampancy: Disappointing. We really are getting trolled by GOG and Nordic. Not to mention that this sets a really dangerous and annoying precedent here. Are we going to expect Bethesda to do this with the Fallout series in the future? How about EA with the C&C series? Maybe LucasArts/Disney with the Jedi Knight/Dark Forces series?
Paranoid much? I highly doubt that'll be the case, mostly due to the fact that GOG would have to go through the process of repackaging and compatibility-testing such games to sell them for a few days only, not to mention throwing together all new game cards for each title. It sure wouldn't make much sense just for that.

In this case, it's simply doable since all these titles were here already previously so all that work had been done. All GOG had to do is flip a switch, so to speak. Still would love for GOG and Nordic come to an agreement so the latter may stay permanently and maybe add some other titles. Maybe someday... hopefully. *le sigh*
I just dropped about $100 on the promo. PAGES of codes.

I'm buying them at 90% off, too.

Or *gasp* read the manual! **!!OLD FART ALERT!!** ;)

I don't know if Renaissance's manual contains general info about the game or just about the stuff that was added when compared to the base Guild II.
Anyone else for the big bulk buy? A couple of PMs are still awaiting the games list, and if no one else shows an interest, I'm going to get the purchase made.
I admit to not reading all of the comments, but the ones that I have seen seem to be upset with Nordic Games for leaving GOG. I don't like to hear companies leaving here either, but maybe grabbing games from that list that you are interested in would help convince Nordic Games that it is worth their time to take another look at doing business with GOG.

I see validity in either choice for influencing the future of GOG with your dollar:
1. Make a stand that says "if you don't want to work with GOG, then I don't want to buy from you" and risk them seeing GOG as an unworthy investment.
OR
2. Let them know there is still demand for their products if they will work with GOG and risk giving them more cash to run away with.

I could not blame anyone for making either choice.

Hm. Looks like you're right. I just hopped over to replacementdocs and took a gander at the manuals of all three. Only the original game has a full manual, while the other two only mention the new features. How odd. Then again, I suppose the dev/pub was expecting people to buy them as expansions rather than single games. *shrug* Well, I'll still have a full manual now though, so guess I shouldn't have to fret about that. ;)

Well, they wouldn't be selling all the different Guild II versions if that wasn't the case.

I was gonna say that I was glad they were all back.

somewhat disappointed that they were all back cheaper than what I bought them for when they left.

but I see that they're not back. it's just some"one-off" now or never thing. BUY NOW BEFORE THEY GO BACK IN THE VAULT!

sleazy, gog. really, kind of sleazy. please perish this new trend of releasing your games temporarily. it looks silly.
I was thinking about getting some stuff, but this temporary bullshit turned me off. If Nordic comes back permanently I will welcome them back with open arms. Pulling shit like this though, they can fuck right off as far as I'm concerned.

What's this about?

kalirion: Red Faction 2 is the only one of the series that I don't own. I heard it has problems on modern systems - is that all fixed in GOG version?
Unfortunately Red Faction 2 just isn't that good. It pales in comparison to RF1. With RF2, they clearly designed it with consoles in mind and it really shows in the clunky PC version. Just stick with Red Faction 1! :)
