Matruchus: I don't think so since that is old data. The rights holder for Supreme Commander now is Wargaming.net since they bought Gas Powered Games in 2013. The same is with Total Annihilation license that is owned by Wargaming.net.
avatar
Grargar: That's assuming that Gas Powered Games really owns Supreme Commander, which I doubt it. Supreme Commander 1 is still published by Nordic, while 2 is still published by Square-Enix. I doubt that Nordic would go the extra mile of adding Steamworks multiplayer for a game of theirs that they would lose so fast.

Supreme Commander Retail Disc published by Nordic in the previous year.
Ok, I digged a bit deaper and Nordic only owns some publishing rights. The game itself belongs to Square Enix since Gas Powered Games had to give them the rights in order to get Supreme Commander 2 development going.

Basically SupCom franchise is owned by Square Enix, Nordic acquired part of the publishing rights.

SirPrimalform: What a ridiculous idea.

Obviously they've solved whatever problem caused them to leave in the first place, so this "we're back, but only for four days!" thing just seems like an attempt at artificial scarcity.
I have to say that I see the whole thing a lot more positive. For me this promo shows that they still haven't solved the issue, but that there is good-will on both sides. Obviously Nordic is still interested in selling their games here and they are even willing to do it flat-priced (and with a great discount) during this promo. And GOG still wants to sell the games and probably will keep supporting the games if any techniucal problems occur.

Both side keep in touch and maybe they will find a more permanent way to solve the problem, so the games can return unlimited. But for now I'm quite happy with the compromise they found and hope they will di it on a regular base (once or twice a year).

Seems like a win-win-win (the third win is for the customers who get the chance to buy the games here) situation and I can not really understand that people keep complaining.

Urnoev: But, who knows, maybe they'll return next year again, at 95% off! Or 99% off
avatar
phaolo: Oh come on, really?
85-90% is already the maximum perfect discount available (excluding those few rare freebies).
If you're gonna wait for more, you won't get anything at all.
That was a joke.
Still, it is kind of unfair, that the discounts are better now than back when the last promo said "These games will be gone forever, buy them now or never." Not that someone who didn't buy anything back then would care.
Okay, I've decided to put out a general call to folks who want to leverage the 90% discount without owning all the titles. I'm going to put together a big key purchase and let people redeem their choices from it. So far I have in the queue:

GUILD 2 RENAISSANCE, THE
RAVEN, THE: LEGACY OF A MASTER THIEF
SILVER
SPELLFORCE 2: DRAGON STORM
SPELLFORCE 2: DEMONS OF THE PAST
SUMMONER

If there are games you are looking at getting with the maximum discount, and they aren't already spoken for above, let me know and I'll add them to the cart. Please be aware this is only open to people I know and trust enough to redeem just their part of the key. :)

That's it! Next time they'll give them all away for free!

So this just means the issue isn't a contractual requirement on either part, it's just stubbornness?
high rated
I have to say, I really don't understand people complaining about how they bought games on last sale for more money.

I bought 6 games last time, and it never crossed my mind to complain about it. In fact, I was happy, because now other people, that let's say didn't have any money last time, can buy nordic games.

Is it somehow accepted opinion that it is our birth right to buy things when they are most afordable?

I just can't understand it. Why buy games at all then? Prices will always drop, you never know it's lowest price. I mean, I would understand if that happend day after, but almost four months passed.

And there was never guarantee games will never come to GOG agine. It's just stupid to complain about it.

...Just ignore me, I just felt I have to say something about that.

JudasIscariot: Language packs are beyond us and require the agreement of a given publisher. Sorry but we can't just add things as we please, as much as we'd like to :(
Thanks for the clear statement.

So you get the rights for the games only for the English version (or for a limited set of languages) and that's true also for games which stay in the catalog? And the delivery of additional language packs for several games a few months ago was just an exception?

That makes me start to regret the purchase of several games here which I bought in the hope that the German version would be added later. :(

I'm asking for like, $5 of games. So I need to send you something. I can send you an Amazon card in a few days, PayPal you over some money, or anything else for $5. Thanks for the generosity! (and if you can do another Silver by the time you're done with this, I'm game for a 60c Silver :D). I almost got it on my own but I hear that this bell quest is a #*#$&@# quest. So I figured if I can get it super-cheap, I'd try it, but I don't need any more frustration in life right now. Just happy games. :)
Holy hell, I'm not that interested in any of these games, but the sheer game-to-dollar ratio of this deal is utterly mesmerizing. I'm tempted to just buy the whole package (which for me would be €25 for 31 games) just for the gluttonous feeling of gobbling up so many games at once. I mean, I'd spend more than twice as much as this for a single PS4 game!
This "last days available on GOG.com sale" is somekind of gibe?

If they leave, release the games for free like you did with Fallout and problem solved..
Which is better: the Gothic series or the Spellforce series?

IronArcturus: Which is better: the Gothic series or the Spellforce series?
imho gothic
Disappointing. We really are getting trolled by GOG and Nordic. Not to mention that this sets a really dangerous and annoying precedent here. Are we going to expect Bethesda to do this with the Fallout series in the future? How about EA with the C&C series? Maybe LucasArts/Disney with the Jedi Knight/Dark Forces series?

Perhaps in the future, what we'll see is Microsoft or Take Two join GOG for a weekend or a month at a time, to never be seen again, until the next, next time that "They'll be available for a limited time only, after which they'll be gone forever!"
