Well, this sale isn't a total slap in the face to anyone who bought anything during the "LAST CHANCE FOR NORDIC BUY NOW OR FOREVER HOLD YOUR PEACE THESE GAMES WILL NEVER GO LOWER BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT EXPECTED TO RETURN" sale.
So GOG is having a temporary sale on Nordic games then the games are leaving again? Why can't the Nordic games stay on GOG?

Well in a way it is. Especially since the discounts are much better.

Cavalary: Yet compared to the big issues, this is an easy one to tackle, so if you admit defeat here, how can you hope to win the bigger battles?
That's a specious comparison, and an erroneous one. What about this issue convinces you that the fight is even winnable, much less trivial?

avatar
Cavalary: Meh, whatever. Just adding another name to the naughty list regarding this. Wonder if there's anyone else left on the hardline side that made the fuss back in February...
We all choose what battles matter to us. You know nothing about me as a person, nor what I fight for in my daily life. Instead you are lumping me in with an arbitrary group because I don't measure up to your acceptable level of fanaticism.

I've had harsher judgements levied against me, and by people I respected more, so don't imagine that your petty valuation means anything to me.

EDIT: And since you seem to be one of those us-vs-them types who believes people belong on lists, welcome to my ignore list.

IronArcturus: So GOG is having a temporary sale on Nordic games then the games are leaving again? Why can't the Nordic games stay on GOG?
If you love them, set them free .
This is a difficult decision for me.
I really would like to buy the few games that I don't own yet... this is a huge discount... the games are flat-priced...

But they will be removed again after this short sale. But, who knows, maybe they'll return next year again, at 95% off! Or 99% off. Anyway, I'm not happy.

As someone else stated already, this could be an interesting model. Imagine a few otherwise regionally-priced games being flat-priced for a short time. (I still wouldn't buy them in this case, but others maybe would...)
Or games that normally aren't here at all: The Elder Scrolls DRM-free and flat-priced on GOG.com for one week... that would be great?

I have to think about this.
Whelp, I already own every single Nordic title here. I did even before the "Last Chance" sale.

Every time I've visited GOG since then I've been waiting patiently for Nordic's return. They truly lost one of their best friends as it was one of only a small handful of publishers who actually post in their own release threads here (ThornNG). They also have and had one of the most expansive catalogs here, and they got more from recent acquisitions that we never saw on GOG at all.

To see them permanently here again would make my day, and if you ask me, since one of Nordic's reasons was due to currency conversion between some flat prices and some regional that fluctuates and not being able to afford to hire someone at their company to do this as a job, maybe GOG should hire someone specifically for this reason, for publishers who would otherwise not be here because those publishers don't have the resources to always stay up to date with prices.

I'm not a currency expert, but if GOG can open a new place in LA (that's still in the works right?) then I don't see why they can't afford hiring a small team to organize pricing for developers/publishers. It may not just speed things up, it would be a very nice courtesy I would think, as it would take a strain off of their shoulders.

In any case, I hope to see them back permanently one way or another. I want Black Mirror 3, the Darksiders, and the later Red Factions, among others :)

Thanks for the x-mas sale, at least. What this tells me is they are able to strike deals with them. They just need to make it long-term.

What a ridiculous idea.

Obviously they've solved whatever problem caused them to leave in the first place, so this "we're back, but only for four days!" thing just seems like an attempt at artificial scarcity.

catpower1980: So, you negociated for no regional pricing apparently? It will give IamSinistar some vacations :o)

EDIT:
"the games will only be available for purchase for the next 96 hours!"
===>>> OK, I guess it was the trade-off :(
I smell BS. Is there really a loophole that says Nordic can sell the games without regional pricing but only for four days or less?

So this is the gaming industry's equivalent of a "booty call"?

Not really. Big sales are likely exempt from any price-fixing agreements (which would be illegal otherwise but seem to be just fine if we're talking about worldwide-accessible digital goods, eh?), so they can probably do this and not trip over the whole "if you list prices in non-USD currencies that differ from the standard regional pricing model it'll be even more obvious for everyone that you're selling our games to those regions cheaper than Steam and they'll get upset and we can't have that" thing.
Grabbed the Spellforce games I was missing. I already own them on 3 other platforms but I adore this series. Espacially the first one aswell as it's addons. I played them so much when I was younger and still do today.
I also grabbed anything that looked interesting to me.
Desperados 1, Book of Unwritten Tales Series (Always wanted to grab those), The Nations Gold Edition, Aquanox 2, Summoner and Chaser. I would love to see the newer games Nordic aquired on GOG. They are currently one of my favourite publishers (they created a team to produce Spellforce 3, how can I not love them ^^). Maybe one day they will be back. I hope so :)

Oh come on, really?
85-90% is already the maximum perfect discount available (excluding those few rare freebies).
If you're gonna wait for more, you won't get anything at all.
