silveri: Something's off in the percentages. I have all of the games from the special except this one:

Book of Unwritten Tales, The
$13.39
you save: $6.60

That's only a savings of ~33%.

Are the percentages backwards?
Check the first post, Book of Unwritten Tales only has a -33% discount, the other games are at -60%
Probably due to the recent Gem Promo for Book I'd guess.
It says "up to" 60% off.
Neat, another weekend promo where I'm not tempted to buy anything at all as I already own all the stuff I want.

Once again I'm pissed though that Gothic 1 is not on sale. Why are Gothic 2 and 3 owned by Nordic Games and the first one by Piranha? o_o I wanted to beat Gothic 1 another time before making my GOG-run through G2 and G3. That will still have to wait, it seems.
those "this week on gog" videos are nice and interesting... My wishlist is getting longer and longer....
Nice promo, already had both Spellforces and Gothic 3 in Steam, but maybe I get a digital backup of Gothic 2

Gothic 1 was originally published by Shoebox, which was a label of dtb Entertainment. Piranha Bytes was at that time fully owned by Phenomedia. After the release of Gothic 1, Phenomedia went bancrupt and the label of Shoebox was shut down as well. So the people of Piranha Bytes formed to studio anew (this time under the legal name of Pluto 13 GmbH) and bought the rights to Gothic. Then they got a publishing deal with JoWood, where they retained the right to the Gothic IP. They developed 2 games and one add-on, where of course JoWood held the publishing rights.
After the development of the disastrous Gothic 3, JoWood and Piranha Bytes went seperate ways (to put it lightly), but JoWood still had the publishing rights to every game except Gothic 1. It was around that time that GOG.com signed the Gothic series, but independently with two right-holders.
Then JoWood went bancrupt as well, where most of their assets got sold off to the swedish company Nordic Games Holding AB, who founded the Nordic Games GmbH in Vienna (with many former JoWood employees, and JoWood still exists as a label).
Piranha Bytes even granted Nordic Games the publishing rights to all Gothic titles, though I'm not sure if that was only void in German-speaking countries. Even then, the original contract GOG.com made would still be with Piranha Bytes, not with Nordic Games.

The one game I want isn't officially Win7 compatible. It's really iffy when they are reaching for Win8 compatibility faster than Win7... especially when most people are still using Win7.

Thanks JMich. That'll teach me to GoG before I've had enough mornin' coffee.
This is great, I put the Darkfall games on my wishlist just a few weeks back. Maybe I'll get something else but those are definitely my first choice.

Which game would that be? Dark Fall 2 or Panzer Elite?

If it's Dark Fall 2, I can confirm that it is compatible with Win7. The gamecard should be updated shortly. Pancer Elite looks good so far, but we're still tasting it to ensure support.

It tastes delicious so far. Could use some salt though.

Sorry...
To everyone who likes RPGs and haven't tried Gothic: now's a good time to get Gothic 2, you won't regret it. I have a retail copy but for some reason it doesn't seem to work anymore, so I should pick up the GOG version sometime as well.

Fesin: snip
Yeah, I know the story (including that Piranha owe it to the Moorhuhn that they got the funds necessary to develop Gothic 1). The only thing that still doesn't make much sense is how the GOG version can be published by Piranha and the Steam version by Nordic Games. The deal that granted JoWood all the rights necessary to publish Gothic 1 must have occurred before Gothic 1 appeared on GOG. So do both Piranha and Nordic Games own all the rights necessary to sign a publishing deal for Gothic 1 now? Or did either JoWood or Nordic Games actually acquire those rights after GOG signed a deal for Gothic 1 with Piranha? The whole situation seems to be quite messy.

I would think so, yes.

Yeah, you better be sorry. I wanted to make that joke.
