Stronghold HD, Evil Genius, Sniper Elite: Berlin 1945, and 17 other great classics for as little as $1.79!

There's an old Polish proverb comparing March to a cooking pot full of boiling brew. You never know what's inside exactly and what comes up when. It relates--of course--to Central European unstable weather in the early spring, but why shouldn't we apply the same to our weekend promo? Let's mix stuff up a little with our March Gaming Medley. So, what's in the pot? A rich base of strategic classics, a solid serving of Sci-Fi, and some explosive action to make it irresistibly spicy. Whether you're looking for a quick snack, or a full sit-down three-course meal, we've got you covered with our 70% off discount offer. Here's what's on the menu!

Stronghold HD (only $1.79!) and Stronghold Crusader HD (only $2.99) are the High Definition editions of these two "castle sim" classics. Adjusted to modern displays they allow for much better control of the playfield and deliver awe-inspiring view of life-like medieval landscape. With great range of things the player needs to take care of--including establishing a sustainable economy, erecting a keep and defending it from enemy raids, and finally conquering neighbouring estates--both games present a worthwhile challenge to strategy fans.

For strategy fans who appreciate humor, we've got Evil Genius, a real-time mad scientist lair management sim in which you terrorize the world with your inventions. This fantastic title delivers some of the greatest comedic moments you'll ever experience in a game. The characters, the setting, and all of the facilities and gadgets make it the best Bond villain simulator in existence! This weekend, you can start expanding your empire of evil for only $2.99.

Or maybe strategy isn't your thing and you prefer to get right into the middle of action? That can be arranged. Sniper Elite: Berlin 1945 will drop you off in the middle of the ruined German capital in the final days of World War II. You'll take part in some of the events that ended the greatest war in human history and strike against the remnants of the Nazi forces with surgical precision. Just remember, move slowly, calculate each step with care, and stay low, as you're not the only elite sniper left in Berlin! All that suspense and excitement for only $2.99.

All four games featured above will work both on Windows and Mac OS X PCs.That's just a small taste of what our March Gaming Medley holds in store for you. Be sure to visit March Gaming Medley to see the entire selection of games available 70% off until Tuesday, March 11, at 4:59AM GMT.

Are you following GOG.com on Tumblr, yet? Your enigmatic hint for our upcoming classic release is waiting for you there, in The Week on GOG #5. That's it from us today, have an excellent weekend :-)
Lots of great games for sale covering several genres. (A little something for everyone!)

I snagged three games that I've been eyeing. ^_^
*Happiness*

Rogue Trooper:
I've heard it is short, but VERY good! ^_^

Time to see for myself. -_^

Advent Rising: <Already owned a Boxed copy... Repurchased for ease of use!>
If you can get past the fact that it is the 1st game in a trilogy that was cancelled this game is lots of fun!

If I remember correctly the PC version was heavily patched and runs well. (Unlike its console release.)
<Bugs that are left are minor, the PC version is 'the' edition to play.>

The boxed edition I have came with a Soundtrack CD as well... doesn't appear to be a bonus for that yet, oh well. XD
(Did some reading and it appears that the music can be found in the game file folders, nifty!)

I'd recommend this game, a lot of reviews of the console version on the net are very negative but don't accurately reflect the PC one. (I had fun anyway.) ^_^

Judge Dredd: Dredd vs Death: <Already owned a Boxed copy... Repurchased for Co-op!!!>
It helps if your a bit of a fan of the Judge Dredd comics/movies/etc.

If I remember correctly one of the crimes you can arrest people for is:
"Illegal possession of a gold fish!" XD

It's a bit of a crazy game, often racing to arrest people who are fleeing from armed criminals before they either escape or (much more likely) catch a stray round from an enemies weapon.

Although I wouldn't call this one a contender for game of the year it isn't a bad game. . . and I've just learned there is multiplayer Co-op!!! O_O
(Via LAN)

Time to dig out my old boxed copy and blaze through it again with a friend. ^_^

I'm torn between Lords of the Realm (1+2), Lords of Magic, Ground Control (1 or 2)...

I remember playing LotR back in the days, it was fun... but can't remember about the gameplay
Well, I'm not sure Pinball Gold Pack was even worth $2.99. But oh well. It's the price of a shitty latte and I can go back to playing the old Windows XP pinball game.
Ahh! Many of you say that Bloodrayne 1 is fun, but I just find harsh reviews on the web (boring, repetitive, bad maps, clunky simple gameplay, silly story).
I still don't know if I should buy it, even with that low price. +_+

If you are on the fence for Judge Dredd: Dredd vs Death: I'm playing it since yesterday and I find it a fun Arcade-type FPS. Fan of the comic or not, for $1.79, if you enjoy classic levels-structured genre representatives (where you don't have to fetch-quest-traverse huge sandbox areas, as in e.g. Stalker or Fallout 3) like Quake, Doom, Painkiller, Kingpin, Sin, Shogo, Requiem etc., you can't go much wrong with it. Can't compare quality-wise with the mentioned classics, but for what it is - a dated budget title - it looks decent.

The Lawgiver main weapon lets you set vampires and zombies on fire, and then finish them off with Hi-Ex exploding bullets. Not even an effective tactic to be honest, but fun. Dry little one-liners here and there, the happy elevator music playing in a shopping mall, along with cheerful, practically anti-consumerist, announcements you hear while dealing headshots to advancing undead had me cracking up. The environments are colorful, and offer some cyberpunk atmosphere 2000-AD-style, albeit being low-tech-rendered tapestry; neon always looks cool though. Sure offers more of a Mega-City One feel than the tepid Dredd 3D movie (but that's not saying much in my opinion). The A.I. is just OK. Not a great game by any means. But fun budget-bullet-spraying. Not regretting my purchase at all.
Aren't there any guesses as to what game the enigmatic hint might be referring to?
hmmm TET upside-down and a USB adapter shaking in front of a geocities background image (Every home page had one of those back in 95)

I have no idea, but then again I didn't hear about most oldies I have here on GOG while they were brand new.

XYCat: If you had to pick from Bloodrayne 1, Bloodrayne 2 and Advent rising, what would you pick and why?
Interestingly enough, you just listed all those I got in the sale this past weekend. :-)

However no, I have not played them. Heck, still have not downloaded them!

I would say go with what other GOGers have said.

I agree with some things you said. It is a dated budget title, but the problem is.. it was extremely dated even when it was released, which is a huge issue to some people and probably one of the reasons it got poor reviews. The main weapon was surprisingly cool, but you never need any of the alt-fire abilities it provides.. it's really just for show.

I encountered a couple bugs with the path-finding for the AI when they're supposed to follow you. One time I had to put a significant amount of effort into rerouting the path for the AI to follow me (so I could complete an objective). The AI can get stuck, and when it happens its annoying. Also, when playing in co-op the mission would randomly fail even if we did nothing wrong.. Other than the bugs I experienced, I would say it might be worth it if you're a big fan of Judge Dredd, as the atmosphere is kind of cool, but for anyone else I'd avoid the game. Even in co-op (which usually makes games more fun), the game was pretty bad.

Leading theory is Rex Nebular and the Cosmic Gender Bender. The usb-thingy is a firewire to usb male to female adapter, and it's infront of a Nebula. Discussion starts here.

Ah I see... well, I imagined there would be a thread for people to discuss the latest enigmatic hint but hell if I would use the search function to find it. Pulling my teeth out with boxer gloves on would probably be easier. :) Thanks for telling me.

I guess Rex Nebular must be right, which does not bide well for my wallet.

The weapon selection is laughably meager and most aren't even useful at all, that Las Rifle, the abysmal reload time will just get you killed — you are better off punching enemies I think. And those escort situations, yeah, I had a group of NPCs getting in each others way trying to arrange themselves upon reaching our destination.

I mean, I didn't expect much from this title; thing is, I find it more fun than it should be considering the production value. I can see all the drawbacks and am still enjoying it, maybe I'm also just relieved that for once there is no micro-management, no RPG elements, no deep story, no immersion promise where you're left disappointed if it's not as riveting or doesn't grab you as much as you were expecting it too.
