Some weeks are just too good to be real. We’ve just released a slew of well-loved classics in the last 7 days, and now we’re wrapping up the with a bang! [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/interplay_blast]The Interplay Blast weekend promo marks the beginning of equally amazing weekend with 32 games that are too good to refuse, too good to put down, and too classic to not be familiar with, especially when offered for only $2.99 each!

Starting with probably the most recognizable post-apocalyptic franchise in gaming history--Fallout series. Some of you might remember that GOG.com sported a fairly decent giveaway just a week ago. If you own Fallout: A Post Nuclear Role Playing Game, you might be interested in getting Fallout 2, which took the vast, post-apocalyptic world and enriched it further with more NPCs, more quests, more weapons, and more quirky perks. Fallout Tactics took the series in a different direction, and is a challenging and fun tactical squad-based strategies with Impressive number of weapons, skills and upgrades soaking in wasteland climate. You will be pleased to find out that all Fallout games are $2.99.

The Freespace series offers something special for simulator-fans with fast-paced action, dynamic flight model, well-made missions, and a gripping story full of epic space battles and plot twists. Both games are considered to be the some of the best space simulators in all the galaxies we’ve known so far. Freespace 2 is probably superior (as one of our users handsomely named it ‘The Pinnacle of Space Combat’) mainly due to beautiful graphics, improved space ships and missions, and enormous modding possibility. Both Freespace + Expansion and Freespace 2 are available for $2.99, this weekend only on GOG.com.

For action fans, yours truly has prepared and [url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/mdk_2]MDK2, two third-person shooters that are among of the greatest and most memorable action games of all time. MDK offers fun and addictive gameplay, filled with humor - a trademark of games by Shiny Entertainment. The Bioware-made sequel featured even more action and humor than in the original, especially when you play as Max, a cigar smoking, quad gun toting demolition squad of a dog.

Loads of good humor and fun describe another action series you can buy with a 50% discount this weekend only on GOG.com: Earthworm Jim. The story: The evil Psy-Crow was transporting a super suit, built by the genius Professor Monkey-For-A-Head, to Queen Pulsating, Bloated, Festering, Sweaty, Pus-Filled, Malformed, Slug-For-A-Butt, but along the way it was stolen by a rebel. Although Psy-Crow killed the rebel, the suit fell down to Earth, landing on an earthworm. That cosmic twist of fate placed Jim in control of an ultra-high-tech-indestructible-super-space-cyber-suit. That’s right, you can pick up Earthworm Jim 1+2, which diverse levels and gameplay modes that provide an unmatched platforming experience and Earthworm Jim 3D, which features pig-surfing. Both Earthworm Jim games are available for only $2.99.

There are more than 30 different games from Interplay that we’re selling at discounted price this weekend, including (but not limited to) amazing RPG , indescribable and one of the most original games ever created [url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/giants_citizen_kabuto]Giants Citizen Kabuto, totally unique action strategy , and a fantastic FPS collection: [url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/shogo_mobile_armor_division]SHOGO: Mobile Armor Division, , [url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/kingpin_life_of_crime]Kingpin: Life of Crime and Redneck Rampage Collection. This promo ends next Monday, April 16 on 11.59 p.m. EDT
Ah superb! I missed the last sale! Definately getting King Pin as I haven't played it for years as the version I had on my old laptop crashed!

Lionheart is also a must as I still haven't completed it yet. Have already bought 2 copies of the game & both copies I lost the play disc. At least I won't have to worry about that now with GOG :D Its very challenging, but still a great game, yes it geos down hill towards the end but I don't mind! The soundtrack is also very good.

Also getting Fallout Tactics! I've played it numerous times! And for those who are unsure of the game, get it! Its not an RPG (as it says a 'Post Nuclear Tactical Combat Game' on the box). I'm a massive Fallout fan & have all the games (yes, even Brotherhood of Steel). And whilst this is a different game in the Fallout universe it is still fun. Getting to play as not just humans, but ghouls, Deathclaws, mutants, and robots.

I might get Fallout 2 aswell as I only have the original version (but got a patch where you can play it without the disc & have installed it on every pc & laptop that I have ever owned). But Im curious, will this version be compatible with any fanmade mods such as the restoration project? (If so and you have Fallout 2 then install it! It adds a bucket load of content that was left out of the game due to time restraints!

Zandolf: I had wanted to get the Freespace series and Jagged Alliance but they don't say they will work with win 7 64 bit! Bummed out about that:(
avatar
JMich: Jagged Alliance (all of them) work fine on Win7 64-bit, as long as you don't install them in a UAC controlled folder. So grab it, install to C:\Games\JA2UB and when you are done, head over to The Bear's Pit and grab SOG '69.
Great! Thanks:) I have no idea what the Bear's pit is, or what SOG '69 is about.
i'd advise anyone picking up a few games from the current promo to also grab Wing Commander 4 while you're at it. right now, that's probably the one game on GOG that deserves most to be bought at full price; it's the rare high-res edition (over 6GB!) and comes with tons of extras (including a 70MB official guide).

DCT: Sacrifice runs on the 32 bit version of Windows 7 but has issues with the 64 bit version.
avatar
billybgame: First....oops I mean Freespace 1 and 2:)

So, for Sacrifice, can you not run it in Admistrator or run it in XP mode, etc?
Sacrifice works on 64-bit Windows 7, at least for me. I installed it to the default GOG program files location, didn't run it in any compatability modes or anything, just ran it as an Administrator. The only issue I had was after getting through most of the tutorial, the game started freezing and had weird graphics issues that made it unplayable.

A quick search led me here: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/sacrifice/major_graphical_glitches/page2

The last post on that page (by sk8fuze) solved those problems and I never had another issue with the game. It also happens to be a fantastic game, highly recommended.

As for Freespace, I found that it had a very reasonable learning curve. You do a couple of tutorials to get the basic controls down, then they introduce advanced features to you in later tutorials after a few easy missions.

I already got all the Interplay games I wanted during their last sale, so... yay.

Freespace 2 works flawlessly on Win7 x64 (for me anyway) and if you can get the FS2Open mod working then it's even better. So you have no excuse!
my gut clenched when I head about this on Joystiq, why does this feel like bad news from Interplay?

true that things haven't been managed over there lately, but no way in hell do I want to see them devoured Atari style.

I've always wondered why they're still alive given the massive pile of games they've recently been involved in ... especially considering the sheer amount of debt which lead to their downfall.

So long as no one in charge accepts an offer to buy the company it might very well remain in coma indefinitely. I personally would rather like to see a big old name resting in peace, than being misused in today's development environment

But then again the Interplay which "exists" at the moment is but a hollow shadow of what once has been. So a sudden revival might lead to the same fate as Atari's anyway even if they aren't bought.

Maybe we should organize a fan-fund with the goal to buy Interplay and all of the rights it still owns and revive them all retro-style ^^. A Freespace 3 would be worth it any day.

What graphics card do you have? They seem to be a problem with all else works.

As for an excuse, well....
Playing Shogo for the first time now, it's pretty good, rather surprising that it scales to 1080p when it was made for Windows 98, but I guess that's Interplay for you.

It tries hard to be Mobile Suit Gundam or Patlabor, but I don't care.

I've played the Restoration Project with GOG's Fallout 2, so it is compatible with fan-made content.

Downloads for SOG

The Bear's Pit is one of the best discussion boards for all things JA related, the SOG '69 is a new campaign for UB, considered a very polished one, and the link for the downloads has almost everything JA related, though it may be a bit of a mess to navigate.

orcishgamer: I pretend that Fallout Tactics actually doesn't exist, except when I'm telling people that I don't like it.
I'm surprised that so many people don't like that game. I enjoyed the campaign a lot and I had some of the most intense multiplayer fun with it when I played against my brother.

Its due solely to the originals - It isn't a patch on them. Like the film Alien 3 is not worth muck against the first two, but taken on its own it isn't too bad.

pizzapicante27: -How good is Saccrifice (just for reference I dont much enjoy the Diablo-type RPG's and I
Maybe you're confusing the game with Sacred. Sacrifice is an RTS game played from third-person-perspective. It's about building an army of obscure creatures, supporting it with powerful spells and taking tactical positions throughout the map (that make your mana go up faster). In my eyes it's as if they had added a serious dose of strategy to Magic Carpet. And all that is powered by a unique und simply fucked up universe with memorable characters and a surprisingly good plot. The gameplay has some flaws but it never kept me from enjoying Sacrifice a damn lot.

Personally I enjoyed the third one more than the second one. ;D

Interplay just published the thing, it was developed by Monolith. So any credits should go to them. ;)
