Some weeks are just too good to be real. We’ve just released a slew of well-loved classics in the last 7 days, and now we’re wrapping up the with a bang! [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/interplay_blast]The Interplay Blast weekend promo marks the beginning of equally amazing weekend with 32 games that are too good to refuse, too good to put down, and too classic to not be familiar with, especially when offered for only $2.99 each!

Starting with probably the most recognizable post-apocalyptic franchise in gaming history--Fallout series. Some of you might remember that GOG.com sported a fairly decent giveaway just a week ago. If you own Fallout: A Post Nuclear Role Playing Game, you might be interested in getting Fallout 2, which took the vast, post-apocalyptic world and enriched it further with more NPCs, more quests, more weapons, and more quirky perks. Fallout Tactics took the series in a different direction, and is a challenging and fun tactical squad-based strategies with Impressive number of weapons, skills and upgrades soaking in wasteland climate. You will be pleased to find out that all Fallout games are $2.99.

The Freespace series offers something special for simulator-fans with fast-paced action, dynamic flight model, well-made missions, and a gripping story full of epic space battles and plot twists. Both games are considered to be the some of the best space simulators in all the galaxies we’ve known so far. Freespace 2 is probably superior (as one of our users handsomely named it ‘The Pinnacle of Space Combat’) mainly due to beautiful graphics, improved space ships and missions, and enormous modding possibility. Both Freespace + Expansion and Freespace 2 are available for $2.99, this weekend only on GOG.com.

For action fans, yours truly has prepared and [url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/mdk_2]MDK2, two third-person shooters that are among of the greatest and most memorable action games of all time. MDK offers fun and addictive gameplay, filled with humor - a trademark of games by Shiny Entertainment. The Bioware-made sequel featured even more action and humor than in the original, especially when you play as Max, a cigar smoking, quad gun toting demolition squad of a dog.

Loads of good humor and fun describe another action series you can buy with a 50% discount this weekend only on GOG.com: Earthworm Jim. The story: The evil Psy-Crow was transporting a super suit, built by the genius Professor Monkey-For-A-Head, to Queen Pulsating, Bloated, Festering, Sweaty, Pus-Filled, Malformed, Slug-For-A-Butt, but along the way it was stolen by a rebel. Although Psy-Crow killed the rebel, the suit fell down to Earth, landing on an earthworm. That cosmic twist of fate placed Jim in control of an ultra-high-tech-indestructible-super-space-cyber-suit. That’s right, you can pick up Earthworm Jim 1+2, which diverse levels and gameplay modes that provide an unmatched platforming experience and Earthworm Jim 3D, which features pig-surfing. Both Earthworm Jim games are available for only $2.99.

There are more than 30 different games from Interplay that we’re selling at discounted price this weekend, including (but not limited to) amazing RPG , indescribable and one of the most original games ever created [url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/giants_citizen_kabuto]Giants Citizen Kabuto, totally unique action strategy , and a fantastic FPS collection: [url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/shogo_mobile_armor_division]SHOGO: Mobile Armor Division, , [url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/kingpin_life_of_crime]Kingpin: Life of Crime and Redneck Rampage Collection. This promo ends next Monday, April 16 on 11.59 p.m. EDT

Hammerit: Out of these Fallout 2 is definitively the best, then comes Giants, then Shogo and lastly (and by all means leastly) Fallout Tactics.

scriptbr: Thank you for your opinion, but is Fallout Tactics really that mediocre? I was considering getting it to decide if I kickstart Wasteland 2 or not.
I pretend that Fallout Tactics actually doesn't exist, except when I'm telling people that I don't like it.
Just to voice a counter-opinion regarding Fallout Tactics: while it's nowhere as good as the original two games, it isn't that bad, either. Rather bland and hindered by some serious design flaws (such as the annoying staticness of the bases), it is still an enjoyable game, at least in my opinion (because the gameplay mechanics were largely left intact, but they were even enriched by some new elements).
One more thing: for what it's worth, you certainly don't have as much of a personal connection to your chars as in the Fallout RPGs, given the nature of this game.
No BG? or Icewind?, damm, oh well, some questions if someone might help me:

-If I buy Freespace 2, is there something Im missing from Freespace 1 (story or gameplay-wise)?
-MDK 2 or MDK 2 HD?
- Im torn, I could buy this or the Gothic package at Steam for 12$, should I go for it? whats the diference (if anyone knows) between GOG's Gothic and Steam's?
-How good is Saccrifice (just for reference I dont much enjoy the Diablo-type RPG's and I really like party-based RPG's with lots of costumization, think Dragon Age).
-An informed opinion of CONQUEST OF THE NEW WORLD vs. Civilization, I dont want to overexpend in something im not going to play.

Thanks!!

I only know the answer to a couple of these:

pizzapicante27: -MDK 2 or MDK 2 HD?
Definitely original MDK2. HD is a pretty bad job, and the music in some areas is just flat out broken.

The only difference I'm aware of is that the installer for Gothic 2 on GOG let's you choose whether or not you want to install the "Night of the Raven" expansion, which among other things increases the difficulty. The Steam version forces it on you (though I'd recommend playing with it anyway).

If you go for the Gothics, don't bother with the $12 bundle, it has a handful of crap games. Go for the universe bundle instead, it has the first 3 and that's all you want anyway.

I had wanted to get the Freespace series and Jagged Alliance but they don't say they will work with win 7 64 bit! Bummed out about that:(

Jagged Alliance (all of them) work fine on Win7 64-bit, as long as you don't install them in a UAC controlled folder. So grab it, install to C:\Games\JA2UB and when you are done, head over to The Bear's Pit and grab SOG '69.
Ooooh. Good reason to get Giants and Sacrifice. I'll also pick up Descent 3.

Freespace 2 is a legendary game but I see no reason to buy it here when FS2Open is free and has tons of improvements on the original.

pizzapicante27: -If I buy Freespace 2, is there something Im missing from Freespace 1 (story or gameplay-wise)?
Kind of. The story begins some time after what happened in Freespace 1, but the references are pretty limited. To understand the grander concept behind the Shivan conflict and the problems within the Alliance it's best to play the first prior to playing the 2nd, but it's by no means mandatory. If you want to play either of them you might wanna check out the Freespace 2 SCP which among other things improves the looks to somewhat meet modern standards (it's not optimized very well though, so it may lead to gamebreaking slowdowns on slower systems) ... http://scp.indiegames.us/

Steams version isn't that different except that you can't play the games without the addons on your first playthrough unless you manually disconnect them after installation (which might lead to problems, never tried it myself). However when it comes to Gothic 2 it's highly recommended to play with the Addon installed anyways as it increases the difficulty level to something we retro gamer are more adjusted to :).

Sacrifice's gameplay is much more similar to Uprising 2 or Spellforce as you are a character who commands and creates creatures to brutalize the enemy forces. Sacrifice is certainly amongst the best in its genre and its setting certainly gives it a unique atmosphere which sets it apart from the newer run-of-the-mill fantasy entries to the genre.

Sacrifice is a character-based strategy game with minimal micro-management and very action-driven gameplay. It's quite easy to pick up, but the learning curve get's quite steep as the levels progress. If you are into these kinds of games (I most certainly am) you're in for quite a treat :).

can't help you with the other two questions I'm afraid.

Last time I checked FS2Open asked for people to buy the original. If they no longer do they're violating the license under which the Freespace 2 source-code was released to the public.

You are correct. My mistake

They are quite a bit different. While in both games you exploit the lands around your base points, the mechanics are not nearly the same. For instance, in Civilization you found a city, and then place your citizens/workers around the center in city view, while in CotNW, you found the city and then build more buildings around it to gather resources, increase the pop limit, train soldiers etc.
Also, in CotNW, instead of food/production/money you have wood, metal, gold and goods, and you build your buildings/train troops from these (and gold is surprisingly difficult to come by), instead of waiting for Production to build up.
Research is an essentially determining factor in Civ, while the same is not true for CotNW; research only applies to military (but buildings are tiered, so you can improve them). So, that's a plus for Civ if you like complex research trees.
On the other hand, combat is much more tactical in CotNW. While you only have three different units (infantrymen, cavalry and artillery), they have very different uses and you have to use them all wisely to win battles. Furthermore, you only need to reach your enemy's base line to win the battle.

So yeah, while they are both turn-based 4X games, there are quite a number of significant differences between them.

Only real difference is you have to make sure you disable the steam in game overlay when playing the steam versions of Gothic 1-3 or they will crash on start-up.

Also Baldur's gate, Icewind dale and the other infinity engine games are released by Atari now not Interplay since Interplay no longer has the rights to the D&D Licence.

Bad bad GOG - that trick with giving away Fallout 1 was cunning. Now people are feeling obliged to buy the second one :)

But for this price, it´s a steal !
A few questions......

The games I'm planning to buy.....Stonekeep and Fallout 2, for sure. I think I just became sold on the Redneck Rampage bundle, as well:)

I want Sacrifice, also......but I don't see Win 7 listed.......will this not work on Win 7? Sure hope so.....it's been on my wishlist.

I've got Deepspace in a box on my shelf, but have never played it. I've become afraid of simulator type games, as it always seems the learning curve is too steep. Heck, I just recently tried Colony Wars on my PS1, which was a highly rated game, and gave up on the first mission. So, are Deepspace 1 and 2 of similar difficulty picking up the game, or more friendly to non-pilots:)

Sacrifice runs on the 32 bit version of Windows 7 but has issues with the 64 bit version.

First....oops I mean Freespace 1 and 2:)

So, for Sacrifice, can you not run it in Admistrator or run it in XP mode, etc?
