AFnord: Ugh, I just skimmed over the sidebar, and read it as "Fading Suns", and got all excited for the fraction of a moment that it took for my brain to register the background. Now I feel cheated :(
I still have my FS cd. What a game! I wish it comes here one day too..

blotunga: I've never played Hostile Waters. But I'm picky about RTS games, I don't like all of them. But I might take Imperial Glory and the Commandos games :). Let's see what the budget says...
If you like Carrier Command (the original), you will like this one. It's very similar, but with a more linear mission structure. Well, A mission structure lol.
Ground Control also has similarities.

What's the summer? :P

I have all the Commandos games but being able to play them without needing the roms would be super sweet and being able to play #1 without a grabber to slow down the game would be super super sweet.

For anyone considering them because they've yet to play them, C 1 and 2 are two of the best titles ever in any genre for any system.

What's a grabber? If you're talking about a CPU throttle software I suggest you first try with a frame rate limiter, they work much better.

I actually own the games myself I got in some sale on Steam but I never tried them for 'some reason'. And some reason meaning I was distracted by some other game that I hadn't tried for 'some reason'. :P

Nirth: I'm thinking on getting Hostile Waters but what is the technical state of this game? How's performance, can I run 1080p, does it work in Windows 7?
It works fine on my Win7 64bit. I'm uncertain about the resolution. Possibly it only runs in 4:3 resolutions, I'm not sure. Performance is not an issue.

And it's a brilliant game. I just thought I'd mention that ;-)

A throttle whatever. I actually managed to find a website that offered an unofficial patch which works like a charm unfortunately it was a bitch to install and I'm not sure I could do it again if I had to.

Anyone here played the GOG Commandos 1? Does it have a speed issue? This was a notorious problem with the original cd rom version.
Fading Summer Favorites, hmm, I own one (Constructor) from this list and do not play that one.

I personally am missing the favorites part of this weekend deal.

That's not an issue really, just curious as I prefer to play 1080p but 4:3 of that or a resolution that comes close is fine.

That's not important!

J/k. It looks like something I'll enjoy.

That's cool but a frame limiter is nonetheless a great tool. It could be that the patch fixes whatever was the issue with the CPU in the first place so a throttle becomes futile and even adds a frame limiter on top of it (to make sure the game runs on a constant frame rather than with fluctations).
Only have Realms of the Haunting from this list already. Praetorians and Imperial Glory look good, but I have way too many unplayed RTSs already. Same deal with Soulbringer, looks nice but too many RPGs in the backlog as well. Nice sale though, a good catch-all of titles that folks may not already know about.

You've already asked this question here and got the answer which satisfied you. Memory problems ;D
Nice selection of games, Praetorians and Imperial Glory looks nice but by the description they are hard games and I'm more accostumed to base building RTSs. How's Hostile Waters?

Thinking in get backups of the Commandos series ort maybe get Constructor/Mob Rule

No faves. No money. Best situation! :D

Praetorians is fun but odd and pretty difficult at times. While you will be working with squads it is not a massive strategy game like Imperial Glory or the Cossacks games; MUCH MUCH SMALLER scale here. There is base building but it's more like Star Wars EOW. I've always considered it a hidden gem and while it's not my favorite game of all time, I'm a little surprised it doesn't get more talk around here.
I bought Hostile Waters. Does anyone know how to manually set the resolution rather than pick one in the given list? I was thinking of trying 1440x1080 to maintain 4:3 aspect ratio to avoid that cut off issue in the corner while keep the resolution fit for my screen.

P1na: Anybody who doesn't have Hostile Waters should rectify.
