1 Weekend Promo, 2 fantastic franchises, 14 classic games, $26.91 for the complete collection, 100s of hours of unforgettable gaming

all games from Wing Commander and Ultima series available on GOG.com are discounted by 50%. You have the chance to buy Wing Commander 4, or Ultima VII: the Complete Edition for only $2.99 until Monday, June 4 11:59 PM EDT.

Ultima is a series of fantasy RPGs created by Richard Garriott (a.k.a. Lord British more) than 30 years ago. The main story of Ultima universe, which takes place in the worlds of Sosaria and, later, Britannia, follows the unnamed protagonist (known only as the Stranger or later as the Avatar, an incarnation of virtue) through three “Ages”: The Age of Darkness (Ultima I-III), The Age of Enlightenment (Ultima IV-VI), and The Age of Armageddon (Ultima VII-IX). It’s one of the most influential RPG series, recognized for open-ended gameplay, in-depth morality system exploring mature themes like racism and xenophobia, and a rich and detailed world. Whether you want to try the original trilogy, visit thousands of colorful places and characters in Ultima 4+5+6, play through Ultima VII: The Complete Edition--arguably the best in series, find your way back home in Ultima VIII: Gold Edition or complete Ultima Underworld 1 and 2, the first first-person RPGs with true 3D environments, all these titles are available for only $2.99 this weekend on GOG.com.

Wing Commander is a series of 3D space combat simulators, described by the games’ creator Chris Roberts as "World War II in space.” In this series, you follow pilots of the Terran Confederation in their fight against the aggressive feline Kilrathi. Introduce yourself to the epic military space conflict in Wing Commander 1+2, play as Col. Christopher "Maverick" Blair (starred by Mark Hamill) and watch amazing FMV cut-scenes in Wing Commander 3: Heart of the Tiger, enjoy fast, action-packed, and varied space combat in the most expensive video game of its era Wing Commander: Privateer.

In addition to that, because the Wing Commander series plays so much better with a joystick, we’ve approached the guys from Logitech and they were kind enough to offer a few awesome Logitech Extreme™ 3D Pro joysticks to our users. Leave a comment below for a chance to win 1 of 3 logitech joysticks. You can also enter a similar joystick-winning contests on Facebook, Twitter, and Google+.

Become the Ultimate Commander (THE ULTIMMANDER!) and buy the complete collection of EA’s Most Famous Classic Series for only $26.91, this weekend on GOG.com.
I just bought Wing Commander 4 and Ultima 7, those were too good to pass up.

I would also love a joystick :-)
A joystick sounds like a good idea, I agree ((:
I haven't played any of the Ultima games before, which ones are recommended to newbies to this series?
This was impossible to resist. Wing Commander and X-Wing were the best games in the world when I was a kid, and Ultima 7 was amazing, even with the wacky use of XMS making it hard to configure for.
Playing games like Freespace 2 and Wing Commander Saga without a joystick is quite interesting. Consider me signed up for this contest. :D

Also, picked up Ultima 7 and Ultima Underworld, and am currently learning how to control them. So far, so fun, though!
The question I have: If you only had 2.99 (and none of these games) which one would you buy? I would be kind of torn between Ultima 4-6 and Ultima VII. That is a really good deal though. !5 games (16 if you count Ultima 7 as 2 games) for only 26.91.

I am thinking about the same thing. Since I already own all the WC games, and I played Pagan back when it was originally released (map, coin and all that) I am probably going to get Ultima Underworld. I guess it depends on what type of game you are looking to play. If only between Ultima games, Ultima 7 is considered the best in the series, though I had fun with Pagan.
Perhaps watching youtube videos would help you more.

I would recommend the 4-6 bundle to start, The first rpg I played (besides dragon warrior on the nes) was ultima 6 when it came out and it was good enough that it made me go back and play the others. If you wanted to try a game before buying the bundle you can play Ultima IV for free and see if you like the ultima series. It is definitely worth the 3 dollars to get 5 and 6 thrown in as well.

Ultima 7 is probably the easiest of the main Ultima's to get into since it has a more simpler(by Ultima standards) interface and had a amazing open ended and interactable world to play with, plus since it was the start of the final trilogy you really don't need to much info on the previous installments and what you should know is either told to you or can be found in the manual.

Next would be Ultima Underworld 1+2 amazing first person rpgs, the controls take a little getting use too it's not awful or cumbersome it's just a bit different.

as for the others I would recomend getting Ultima 4(it's free) and giving that a go before getting Ultima's 1-6 and see how well you can handle it.

But Avoid Ultima 8 at all cost it's still not that great, sure the GOG version is less buggy but it's still a below average game.
A new joystick would be awesome, my old MS Sidewinder no longer calibrates :(
Just my thoughts. Don't put a contest and a game deal thread together. Since everyone seems to be posting just for the contest.
In!
Great promo! Making my way through Wing Commander 1 now and reliving the past. Love it. Thanks GOG.com!

Of course we are!
Heck yeah, I'm in. Could use a new joystick. For that matter, could use a new Space Sim. You listening, EA?
