Hmm, I really don't understand what is and isn't included in these games (especially 2). See, I picked some of these up on Steam when they were dirt cheap a year or so ago (around $5 for all the D2 staff and JA2/UB2). Now on Steam, they have "Disciples 2 Galleans Return" and "Disciples 2 Rise of the Elves".
However, here, I don't see any mention of "Galleans Return", so, um, can anyone clear that up? I'm assuming even with the 2 on Steam, it's still worth getting the GOG versions.

The first two expansions packs for Disciples II - Servants of the Dark and Guardians of the Light - at some point were released in one box as Disciples II: Gallean's Return.
Disciples II Gold is the most complete edition of Disciples II - you get the original game (subtitled Dark Prophecy), all three expansions packs (Servants of the Dark, Guardians of the Light and Rise of the Elves) and several exclusive scenarios not found on any other release.
Hope that clears things up. :)

Now I'm even more confused. Does that mean the Steam version never had the base game and that the expansions were standalone expansions, or is the title of the Steam version misleading and the base game was actually included as well?
Either way, it seems that if you want to ensure you have the who complete game, getting it off GOG is the way to go =) Now to find 15.99 when don't get paid until next weekend >_<

Count me in on this one. I use to own these a long time ago, but never got around to playing them. (Was always playing HOMM for my turn based needs) With both GOLD editions included in this deal with all the expansions they contain make this an instant buy. Can't wait to dive in.

Hmm... I'm not the right person to explain product descriptions on steam... but in the end I think that they offer the same version as we are... of course at different price point. ;)
EDIT: And yes... all Disciples II expansions are stand-alone.

When I purchased the games, none of that information was present =/ Either way, I still think it's best to get them from GOG as Steam doesn't have Disciples 1 - and the no-client dependancy, no DRM thing is always good =) Thanks for the help.

Wikipedia explains this mess:
"Three expansion packs have been released to install over the original Disciples II. In order of their release they are: Disciples II: Servants of the Dark, Disciples II: Guardians of the Light and Disciples II: Rise of the Elves. The pack Disciples II: Gallean's Return contains the first two expansion packs, Servants of the Dark and Guardians of the Light. Don't mean to be picky but unless you mean something else EDT (Eastern DayLight Time) should be EST (Eastern Standard Time). Eastern US is on EST until like March.
