Master of Orion series, Silver, Outcast, Rollercoaster Tycoon series, and more Atari All-Stars 60% off

Accelerate into amazement, astonishment, and astoundment as the abundant amassment of authentic Atari awesomeness arrives! Our new [url=http://www.gog.com/en/promo/atari_weekend_promo/]Atari All-Stars weekend promo offers you with an incredible selection of 26 Atari games and you can get each and every one of them 60 (yes: s-i-x-t-y!) percent off. Whatever your taste in games might be, you're sure to find something new (or old) and exciting for yourself. We've got space strategies, tales of the Wild West, lovecraftian survival adventures, ultra-violent shooters, theme park sims, medieval RPGs, nautical adventures, and more. So much more. Let's look at some of the games from this supreme selection to give you a better idea of what kind of a promo you're dealing with here. Shall we begin with something otherworldly?

Master of Orion 1+2 series is a paragon of sci-fi managerial strategy. Lead your race towards galactic domination in a universe full of opportunity. Those games are so complex and satisfying, that you could easily play them for years.

Silver is a colorful RPG that looks like a fairy tale and plays a lot like one of Final Fantasy games. It was, however, developed in Europe so its setting, aesthetics, and storytelling are something completely different than what you would've expected to see in a jRPG.

Outcast is an incredible adventure in a open-ended sci-fi world. The game uses the retro-futuristic technology of voxel graphics to represent one of the biggest and most imaginative gameworlds ever to grace computer screens. Check out this unique gem that really came ahead of its times.

Rollercoaster Tycoon Deluxe lets you create and manage the amusement park of your dreams. Design the rides, set the prices, draw in visitors, and let the profitable fun begin! Be sure to check out the sequel, Rollercoaster Tycoon 2, and the feature-filled Rollercoaster Tycoon 3: Platinum! for even more theme park building pleasure.

Before you rush off to the [url=http://www.gog.com/en/promo/atari_weekend_promo/]promo page, there are two more things that we'd like to tell you. We'll be adding some new extras and bonuses to our Atari games today. As usual, we have some of our amazing community members to thank for providing us with this content. Our gratitude goes to users: jeremiahh, SpooferJahk, and Daedolon (the man behind The Postmortem, the biggest community website). Remember to check inside your virtual boxes of [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/alone_in_the_dark]Alone in the Dark 1+2+3, , [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/master_of_magic]Master of Magic, and Blood. This also gives you a great opportunity to check out a new GOG.com site functionality. Your games' shelf now comes with a new sorting option, so you can easily find new and recently updated games in your collection. How to use it? Consult the screenshot hovering around this paragraph--it's pretty much self-explanatory (just click to enlarge it).
Very good promo indeed, cheers GOG!
I have most everything I need from this selection, but I'll have a look around the discounted games nevertheless, maybe something escaped my attention :-).
I've got Neverwinter Nights ($6.99 currently) that i'd trade for Blood 1+2 (Currently $4.78 for both)

timppu: but is the Colonization DOS or Windows version, and does it even matter for the gameplay and stuff?
avatar
Wishbone: If a game here exists in both a DOS and a Windows version, you can reliably assume that it's the DOS version that's for sale here.
I think there are some exceptions though, like Earth 2150 Trilogy (GOG later added also the DOS version as an extra item, because the AI was broken in the Windows version (problem also with the original Windows version that the game developers apparently never fixed)), and not sure about Fallout?

But yeah, in general that may be true, especially with these early Windows games that are most probably 16-bit Windows apps. Just wanted to make sure, also whether there are any differences in gameplay.

G-Doc: Yes, it's 100% playable and all of the known bugs have been brutally squashed by our bug-eradication team. The well known troublesome music-related puzzle remains difficult to deal with--as designed.
avatar
jamyskis: Including the AVI file bug? Or do you still need to delete the AVIs? Or have they been removed already?

Technically the game is "100% playable" with this workaround, but there seems to be a fair few people complaining of Access Violation errors nonetheless.
Yes, I was just informed that some users still experience some problems with Silver. Nothing ultimately game-breaking, but I still should have phrased my statement more in the lines of "all of the squashable bugs have been squashed". My mistake, but an honest one, I promise.
I'm also a bit intrigued by the infamous MoO 3, but nah, I really shouldn't buy games I most probably don't intend to play properly, other than checking them out...

DCT: man save for that FPS sale this must have the most games I want and at 60% off to boot. So I guess it's time for me to put a big ol dent into my wishlist and finally nab Darklands, Silver, Star Control 1+2, and Alone in the Dark 4(hey I don't mind it for 2.39)
I'm so glad to see people interested in Darklands. It's one of the most unique and climatic RPGs ever, in my humble opinion. It's so rare to see a medieval role playing game with little to none fantasy elements. Not that I dislike fantasy, but historical setting can be much more captivating if done right.
And there goes a few games from my Whislist to my backlog :)

Pheace: Ur-Quan Masters (Star Control 2)
I was doing a search on this one and the free open source version I tried earlier, is that the same as Star Control 2 or? I had tons of fun with that game but I lost track of the name when I formatted my PC once.

Finally got Silver off my wishlist.

Loads of good titles in this one!
Fantastic promo GOG!
It caters almost every whim you could have as a gamer.
I'll certainly be buying Colonization and Pirates, and Darklands looks very interesting too.
Tempting promo, I've just thrown away almost 20 bucks on games that I'm not at all likely to play anytime soon. Must have more shinies!

The filter feature is pretty sweet too, but I'm not seeing it on my games page yet.
Great promo, got six games off my wishlist.
Also good to see that updated games can finally be found easily. It was a bit annoying hunting for those little tags amongst 178 games. :)

It's Star Control 2 with some updates and fixes. There's really little reason to buy the base game when this one is enhanced and free.

If it's open source how come the game is still comercially available? Or is still similar to Arx Libertatis project for Arx Fatalis?

I have no idea about that. All I know is on the webpage.

"The project started in August 2002, when Toys For Bob released the partially ported sources of Star Control 2 3DO version to the fan community."

Perhaps the 1+2 bundle, you're basically paying for 1 and getting 2 for free. Or perhaps him releasing it still doesn't mean they can't release it commercially as well. Or perhaps it being released commercially afterwards withdrew that gesture and the rights? No idea really. Far as I know though, it's legit.
