Robin Hood: Legend of Sherwood, Syberia 1&2, MegaRace 1,2,3, and more games from Anuman 70% off!

Discovery is one of the humans' most basic needs. We eat, we drink, we sleep, we mate, and then we go someplace new. Some of us are more adventurous than others, but the need to see what lies beneath the hills is firmly rooted in the human soul. That's why we always seek out new lands. That's why we're always fascinated by legends of lost civilizations. That's why the unknown is our favorite direction. Whenever we're given the chance, we like to go on an adventure! Oh yes, this can be a long and eventful weekend if you're ready for some [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/anuman_weekend_promo_230514]Adventures with Anuman!

One of the most recognizable adventure sagas must be the story of Robin Hood and his company of benevolent rogues. It has sprouted countless books, movies, TV series, and games. One of these games--and one of the best in existence, is Robin Hood: The Legend of Sherwood, a team-based real time strategy game from the developers of Desperados. You can control up to six different characters, each with his or her own set of skills and weapons. You will have to use these abilities wisely in order to succeed. There are many ways to finish each mission, but the challenge is always to find the best one. This weekend, lead the fight for justice, for only $2.99!

The stories of the lost land of have filled our imagination with amazing visions for ages. The adventure games fueled by those vision can set the mood for further exploration of the unknown. [url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/syberia]Syberia, although it can be seemingly easy located on a map, is no less mysterious and strange than Atlantis. At least in the phenomenal point-and-clicks by the visionary Benoît Sokal, it is. If the earthly mysteries no longer excite you, you can always set out for the ultimate frontier, and explore space in Haegemonia: Gold Edition. Don't expect your journey towards stars to be peaceful and uneventful, though!

That's but a small part of our extensive Adventures with Anuman weekend offer. Titles of varied genre, size, and age wait for you in the promo page, and they're all 70% off until Tuesday, May 27, at 3:59AM GMT. Don't miss out!

irondog: Dracula 1 and 2 are fantastic! And they boast the best/scariest looking Dracula in any of the games (bar the plastic hair. <g>) Have fun with them!
I've got Dracula 4 and 5 but was holding off to get the first 3 and play them in order... They're at a good price now but I've got a number of games on the go already and figured I probably wouldn't play them right away anyway and they'll always come on sale again another time so why not just leave some titles for the future? Now a few people have praised the games and have me torn between buying them now and giving them a spin or holding to my "wait it out and get it later"... Hehehe. Despite my best efforts at being calculated and logical about purchases it's hard not to be torn about decisions and whimsical at times. ;oP On the upside there are almost 3 full days left to ponder it either way. Also torn about Post Mortem (finished Still Life 1, but only 10% of Still Life 2), and Robin Hood as well. These sales make it hard sometimes to be calculated and fight of whimsicality! ;oP

Ghorpm: Allow me to recommend you Dracula 3: The Path of the Dragon (part of Dracula Trilogy)

jackster79: This, the review on the game card, and the fact that it was on my wishlist all combined to tickle that purchase itch...

and I gave in! <sob!> <sob!> .... still hurting from all the other stuff i got... why do you do this to me GOG?!?
Look on bright side: Dracula would drink your blood if you didn't purchase this trilogy for mere 3$ you've saved your life ;)

tfishell: Unfortunately I've kind of developed this association of "Anuman usually = crap", probably because of Amerzone and the Atlantis games.
avatar
groze: Seriously?! Amerzone and the Atlantis games are awesome. I don't care what critics and reviews say.

Amerzone was clearly an early prototype or vision, if you will, of what would later become Syberia -- which is arguably one of the best point and click adventure series ever made. Benoît Sokal is one hell of a creative designer, and just by being behind so many Anuman games I'm willing to forgive some of their lesser efforts.

Then again, if you got so disgruntled at GOG for dismissing the Humongous games as not being fit for their consumers, you'd probably dislike the Anuman games anyway.
Okay. :P

mrking58: PS GOG add Atlantis 4 and 5 to gog

Moonbeam: Yes, and also Return to Mysterious Island 2 please.
Return to Mysterious Island 2 would be great indeed!
avatar
madth3: I know I loved a MotoRacer game but I'm not really sure if it was the first or the second, so I'll just have to get them both.
avatar
physiq: Not all 3 of them? XD
Don't tempt me. :)
I'm using its lower rating as a reason not increase my backlog even more.
Well, decided to purchase Corsairs Gold and Return to Mysterious Island
high rated
Picked Robin Hood & Haegemonia, nothing else for me.

gandalf.nho: How's Return to Mysterious Island for people who don't play adventures and don't like hard games?
What I liked about this game is the fact that a lot of situations can be dealt with in different ways. Very often, there won't be just one way of solving a "puzzle", and the game rewards creativity, giving you more points if you try different things and come up with interesting solutions. You will spend some time experimenting with your inventory, trying to craft new items out of things you find on the island. I call it crafting because it's not just basic item combination (i.e. click item A on item B to get item C), you have actual recipes for various things. I had a lot of fun exploring the island and experimenting with what I found, and the game encourages and rewards that.

That said, I have found myself stuck a couple of times. Never to the point where I had to check a guide to progress further, but I had a few "rub everything on everything" and "click on everything" moments.

Also, for me, a great deal of the game's appeal came from the Jules Verne lore. The game has loads of little details which fans of the book will love, and I'm honestly not sure whether the world and the story tidbits will hold up as well for someone who's not familiar with the source material. It's still a nice survival point'n'click experience, with gorgeous music and lovely hand-drawn cut-scenes, as well as an interesting crafting mechanic.

So, I'd definitely recommend it, but don't expect it to be heavily story driven. It's more about exploration and experimenting. :)

Fingon: Thanks for this promo, I've waited long time for Amerzone to be for better price. Thankfully I have most of the other andventures. Though I am tempted to buy Return to Mysterious Island, just to help with the decision of certain parties if they should add also the second part and more games from Kheops Studio...
I really recommend Return to Mysterious Island. It's a very enjoyable and intelligent game, especially if you like point'n'click adventures. See above. :)

Vercinger: Haegemonia and Corsairs, obviously.
Will have a look at those, cheers. =)

EDIT: Does either of these have a pause feature? RTS which don't provide the ability to pause tend to stress me out... =/

any opinions on the Megarace games? I asked a few days ago but I accidentally derailed my own question and never got an answer. :P
