Zoltan999: Okay, gottcha, lol. I'm a big strategy fan, RTS or TBS. ( I do prefer a nice pause button for the RTS games though, and use it a lot! heh heh) If you decide to try one of the space-based strategy games here on GOG, I would suggest Star Wolves (also has some decent story line(s) ) first perhaps. If you like that one, def grab Nexus and Haegemonia afterwards, for more space strategy goodness. Have a nice weekend bro!
Cool, thanks, it really says it's also an RPG, must have missed that - will add it to my wishlist and keep an eye on it, maybe it will ease me in into this type of games!! Thanks, wish you a great weekend as well!!

gandalf.nho: How's Return to Mysterious Island from non-adventure players? Too difficult?
Nope. The puzzles are kinda easy, consisting mostly of inventory originated ones. I saw your earlier post and I was to answer it: It´s a nice title for point and click adventure starters, of course for the ones used to could be something boring and predictable, but i think that fits you well.

Nice promo. Thanks GOG. I am certainly grabbing something here..

Licurg: Does Iron Storm really suck as much as the reviews say ?
avatar
Tarhiel: Hard to say but for this price, I wouldn´t hesitate ;)
Absolutely agree. I played it a long time ago and all I remember that it was unbelievable difficult. I was killed so many times.. Apart of that certainly good enough to be fun..

Parts of it are a lot of fun but there are other parts that will make you crazy, As some of the reviews state, enemy snipers NEVER miss.
Time to complete my Dracula collection with the Trilogy.. I recall the first on my old PsOne a friend let me borrow, impressive FMV at the time, the texturing and animation.. Awe effect. then, I got lost in the night of pathways under the pale moonlight, IIRC I gave up fairly quickly not long after, in a sort of mine.. GameBoomers guides, wait for me! ^^

Ghorpm: Allow me to recommend you Dracula 3: The Path of the Dragon (part of Dracula Trilogy)

It's truly an amazing game, one of the best adventures I've ever played! Sure, for us, gamers, it's pretty obvious that Dracula does exist in this series but the main character, a catholic priest, does not believe in vampires. He is sent to Vladoviste to investigate a life and death of a doctor because local church authorities claim she should be canonized.

As you can imagine he starts to experience a lot of anomalies, people tell him strange stories and he has mysterious dreams...

The best thing is that supernatural is not bluntly thrown at you in this game. Your main task is to analyze numerous documents, talk with different people, search for clues and solve elaborate puzzles. Most of the time our good priest will actually find proofs that vampirism is just a myth but at the same time he will get a feeling that there is something else going on... something elusive... something incredibly well concealed... concealed by a sentient being. And it's teasing him. Teasing to follow this path... the Path of the Dragon...

As much as Dracula 1 and 2 are typical adventure games about human vs vampire struggle the third one is one of the best games I've ever played. I was in awe how marvelous this story was and how well it was told. Puzzles are hard but it gives a lot of satisfaction to solve them. For example you'll be shown a few copies of the same painting and only by analyzing the differences between them you'll be able to solve some puzzles (trust me, it was not a spoiler, one character will directly explain that you have to do so but she won't give you an actual answer and neither did I so don't worry - I didn't spoil anything)

I can't recommend it strong enough!

PS And yes, I made this recommendation in another thread but I thought it would be a good idea to copy it here, perhaps it will help those who consider buying Dracula Trilogy
This, the review on the game card, and the fact that it was on my wishlist all combined to tickle that purchase itch...

and I gave in! <sob!> <sob!> .... still hurting from all the other stuff i got... why do you do this to me GOG?!?

Ah well, since I am making a purchase, going to pick up another one on the wishlist as well just to get it off of it: Dragon Lore. Reviews on the game card are not that enthusiastic it seems but for that price point I am willing to take the risk.

Now GOG: please release nothing but sports games, fighting games, and side-scrolling shooters for the rest of the summer. That will make my wallet very very happy! (and there is the added benefit that the fans of those genres will be salivating judiciously...)
Well...I bought Robin Hood and some DLC (since they don't count as games and thus don't add to my backlog [dieter's excuse]). I am done for the weekend. Huzzah!

JaqFrost: So... if you're not into point & click adventures or racing and you own Robin Hood already, is there anything else in this promo you should consider?
Haegemonia and Corsairs, obviously.

If I remember correctly, there is one place where you can reach a dead end. It's not too hard as adventure games go. Lots of inventory combinations. Thankfully the inventory system is nicely done.

madth3: I know I loved a MotoRacer game but I'm not really sure if it was the first or the second, so I'll just have to get them both.
Not all 3 of them? XD

tfishell: Unfortunately I've kind of developed this association of "Anuman usually = crap", probably because of Amerzone and the Atlantis games.
Seriously?! Amerzone and the Atlantis games are awesome. I don't care what critics and reviews say.

Amerzone was clearly an early prototype or vision, if you will, of what would later become Syberia -- which is arguably one of the best point and click adventure series ever made. Benoît Sokal is one hell of a creative designer, and just by being behind so many Anuman games I'm willing to forgive some of their lesser efforts.

Then again, if you got so disgruntled at GOG for dismissing the Humongous games as not being fit for their consumers, you'd probably dislike the Anuman games anyway.

Dracula 1 and 2 are fantastic! And they boast the best/scariest looking Dracula in any of the games (bar the plastic hair. <g>) Have fun with them!
