[url=http://www.gog.com/promo/activision_treasures]This week, we’ve prepared a set of seven treasures from Activision, which are available for only $2.99 each until Monday, April 2nd at 11.59 p.m. EDT.

, a unique steampunk cRPG designed by the creators of Fallout (Tim Cain, Leonard Boyarsky and Jason Anderson), is a game that every RPG-maniac should complete at least once. The fusion of industrial revolution and a world of magic is a home to Dwarves, Humans, Orcs, and Elves; a place of arcane runes and steam-works, of magic and machines, of sorcery and science. [url=http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/arcanum_of_steamworks_and_magick_obscura]Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura is available for $2.99 this weekend only on GOG.com

Caesar III is a city-management simulator, which puts you in charge of a small province with hopes of peace and prosperity. You have to listen to your citizens, protect your people from barbarians, and fear the gods in order to build a better Rome! You won’t build it in a day, but you have a whole weekend ahead to buy Caesar III for only $2.99.

People in the Middle Ages lived in constant fear of demons and God's punishment. Christof, christian crusader, does not fear vampires. In fact he came to Prague to kill them all. Unfortunately he’s become one of the undead creatures he once battled. Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption will send you across Prague, Vienna, London, and New York to seek vengeance for your tortured immortality for only $2.99.

The Zork Anthology offers you the chance to play the original (like the first ever) adventure games Zork I, Zork II, Zork III, Beyond Zork, Zork Zero, and Planetfall. The Zork saga is text adventuring at its finest. Welcome to the Underground. Your greatest challenge lies ahead – and downwards. Return to Zork is rediscovery of the previous adventures, but now with graphics (live actors and video sequences.) and a superb soundtrack. Zork: Nemesis, another part in the franchise offers spectacular production value--Hollywood actors, dramatic live-action video, hypnotic ambient music and dazzling special effects. Zork: Grand Inquisitor is the last installment of the famous Zork adventure series. It uses the same formula as its predecessor: first-person perspective, 360 degree camera rotation, pre-rendered backgrounds, and live actors. Humor and comical pop-culture references accompany you throughout the entire game and guarantee that you will never get bored. So if you are looking for a not so serious oldschool adventure then this gem is for you. All games releases from Zork series are $2.99 on GOG.com this weekend only.

Visit the promo page and collect those treasures!
Looked at the games in the promo (quite attentively) looks like only Arcanum and Vampire: The Masquerade are interesting. Even though I barely know anything about them. Why is everyone going so crazy about those two?

Arcanum is like the steampunk continuation of Fallout, developed by some of the same people (Troika). It is an awesome game if you like that particular kind of RPG.

Dunno why anyone would be crazy about Vampire The Masquerade: Redemption, it's the other one, Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines, that everyone raves about (because it's also a fantastic RPG by Troika), but it's not on GOG yet.

so? why not buy the first game as well? it's a decent RPG in its own right, and for $3 i wouldn't even have to think twice about it, if i didn't already own it.
Because I don't have time for decent RPG's, only the best ones :)

Thanks for heads-up.
I have no idea whether I would like Arcanum, frankly speaking. Steampunk settings are nice for me, but I did not play Fallout series (primarily because I do not like post-apocalyptic settings). But I think there is a user around with "Buy Arcanum!!!" in his profile. That was what got me interested.
I have some users ask for Vampire: Bloodlines so I do not know whether it is just an active group, or the game really is that popular.
Damn you Gog, you just had to do it, didn't you? You just had to..

Arcanum.. £1.93...Bought..
Already got "the" RPG's in this list. Tempted to get Caesar3 though..
Zork games intimidate me. I foresee many frustrating hours ahead should I attempt to take on theses classics. I think I'll let this promo pass me by and save my sanity.
Hum, already have all the games from this promo, except Caesar 3. Will pass this time.

CTLance: Why are you doing this to me, gog. I haven't even installed the last game I bought and I'm already adding more. :)

Zork & Vampires for me. Looking forward to dying a thousand deaths.
Welcome to the club :)

grviper: Well, Return to Zork will teach you many new ways of pulling your hair out and will threat you to dozens of Sierra-style deaths.

nijuu: I remember all the Zorks were like that at one point hahaha ;)
when I get frustrated in the first one (not hard to do with my sense of direction) I start typing things just to see what snarky comments the game has to throw at me. It is worth it for that alone.

Now the "select/deselect all" check box it's working properly.
Blarg I just bought Arcanum like 2 days ago too. Snagging Vampire I guess.
Ok, I hadn't realized that Zork had not made it to Russia, but that does make sense - it is fully text.

Despite that - and this goes not just for Russia, but anyone who doesn't speak English as your native tongue - you should pick up at least one of these games. I'd say all, but start with the first one. It's a collection of many games.

It's a book - and not written as if you only have 2 choices each page, but written with much more detail and with things happening around you while you play. Infocom games ran on a z-machine - a special virtual machine they'd created just for the purpose of making these games - and some of the games are truly complex and challenging.

The Zorks started it all - in a distant land of magic and wizards. (With a serious amount of depth.)

Now, personally, I'd love to see a project to translate these classics to everyone's native tongue. There are compilers for Z-machine adventures (inform) and new interactive fiction games made every year.

If you don't know if this is for you, even though this is dirt cheap and I really reccomend everyone pick them up, here's a method of testing without spending your money:

Go get "Lost Pig." (Ok, the full title is "Lost Pig (And Place Under Ground.)" ) It's a brilliant, somewhat challenging, and overall FUN game. It's interactive fiction, and can be played with any Z-machine interpreter - all of this is on the Lost Pig page. http://www.grunk.org/lostpig/

If you like that game, you'll like Zork.

And I do hope someone can translate these into Russian, Czech, Polish, Magyar, Chinese... Suomi would be good but only for me because I don't speak it well (: I know people here in Finland who's nicknames are FROM the Zork series, so I know it's known here (:

Anyway - I thoroughly reccomend Zork and would pick up another copy if I didn't already own it.

GOG - really, when Suspended comes out, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE release it with a 3d-printer capable model of the original box art. PLEASE. I love that box art.

(Infocom's games came with the BEST extras. Well, for people like me. I thought the pocket fluff in the HitchHiker's Guide game was the BEST THING EVER, and my friend Jim said "oh, that's why they put that stuff in these boxes...people like you fall for it." And I said "YES! LOOK! POCKET FLUFF!!!! AWESOME!!!"
Already have all the games on the promo. :)
