My favorite recent adventure game is Primordia, Yohalem did a great job writing it, the characters are colorful and the atmosphere has a kind of whimsical feeling that goes back to the old Lucasarts games. It is easily the best of the wadjet eye games (compared to gemini rue and resonance).
