Can anyone recommend a good PC gaming website or magazine, specifically one that offers good weekly or monthly summaries about what's new and interesting in the world of games?
After filling out a survey on Fileplanet's website, I came to the conclusion that, of late, I haven't seen any really good summaries of the latest and greatest in PC games. Fileplanet's new website now looks pretty much like a glorified FTP site, so it's easy to find what you're looking for but impossible to discover something new.
I check BluesNews on a regular basis, but that has so much content that it's really easy to miss something of particular interest (particularly "Ships Ahoy!" or demo releases). Sometimes I also venture out into Real Life, and it's hard to trawl through 2 weeks of archives.
I also used to be a regular reader of PC Gamer UK and PC Format UK, but that fell by the wayside maybe a decade ago, when the demo discs started being mostly videos and hardly any playable content. They might still be great, but the only technology magazine I've bought in the past few years is Wired.
I am a PC-centric gamer but have a really broad interest in computer games.
Any recommendations greatly appreciated!

Sadly, I used to read PC GAMER before it went to shit too, if I'm brutally honest I think that unless you're on a 56k modem the magazene scene for PC gaming news is just obsolete now with the information lagging behind due to the monthly format
Websites that I reckon are pretty nifty with gaming info and news are the following:-
www.rockpapershotgun.com
www.Kotaku.com
www.Eurogamer.net
www.gametrailers.com
All of these sites are great for news and such and I'd highly recommend them, quite probably not what you're after in terms of format and such but they are certainly informative.

Well, EGM is coming back: http://www.egmnow.com/
And GameFan will be resurrected too.
Don't know much about other magazines. I only buy the brazilian version of EDGE, sparsely.
http://www.critical-distance.com/ is great for summarizing blogs/related news.

www.gamerzines.com
If you want free online gaming magazines and also everyday gaming news.
www.shacknews.com has a daily/weekly round up of all news I think.
Voodoo Extreme - http://ve3d.ign.com/
I use twitter to keep up with my gaming news. Mainly follow TGN and then other specialist gaming sites like starcraft.
TGN
Then I read http://www.thirteen1.com/ each month, they do a nice emagazine layout where you turn the pages.
Thanks to everyone for the links so far (and please keep them coming)!
Nothing is quite what I had in mind, but the linked zines are pretty cool, and most of the best gaming news sites have been covered now.
I can't seem to find the mentioned weekly summary at shacknews, so if anyone reads that, please let me know.
... maybe if I find myself with some spare time, I'll try and put something like this together. I seem to pretty much have a choice between keeping up to date daily, or getting a really small selection of detailed information from magazines.

I think so. :)
Glad you like it.
Here's another one which is not exactly what you had in mind but might prove very useful:
http://newsnow.co.uk/h/Arts+&+Entertainment/Computer+Games
It offers a quick glance at the day's stories. There are 'most popular today/yesterday' summaries...
