The other Buck Rogers was Matrix Cubed, I didn't really play it much but I got the impression it was more of the same rather than anything worse
Well, "more of the same" could work...as long as the story was as good as in CtD.
I suppose.

TOM CRUISE!!!!!!
Too much capslock, stopped reading - what was it you wanted?

Lone3wolf: Edit : I'd actually quite like Buck Rogers : Countdown to Doomsday, here...despite still having a working MegaDrive copy ^_^.
Wasn't there a 2nd game, that was mediocre, at best? Would look at it, never having played it (or seen it here in UK).

Aliasalpha got it right, not really worse, but more of the same. Both came out in that phase where SSI already knew, just how dated their D&D engine was. So taking the same stuff and using it in a different environment, was a good way to capitalize on that Goldbox thing.
In other words: if you liked BR:CtD and won't expect anything better, you'd probably also like Matrix Cubed.

hehehe
Sorry, I just couldn't resist

Menelkir: THE ONLY STARFLIGHT YOU NEED IS THE ONE THAT GOT PORTED TO THE GENESIS

Elwin: You got me interested. What made it superior to the PC version?

Well, to begin with, you get a bitchin' starmap, that unlike the one that came with the PC version, is accurate to the game, and second, the manual includes an awesome 40 pages long intro story written by Rober Silverberg, you know, the guy that won the Nebula Award for science fiction like 5 times, who was also the president of the Science Fiction Writers of America.
You know, just your average guy. (Can anyone tell that i read huge amounts of sci-fi???)
Last, but not least, you can upgrade your little go-cart, or whatever the hell that thing was called, that you couldn't do before, also, the graphics got a nice facelift.
I spent like a hundred hours playing this game on the Genesis, still have my cart.

I HAVE NO INTEREST IN THE GAMES YOU MENTIONED AT ALL. I ACTUALLY THINK THEY LOOK KIND OF CRAPPY AFTER LOOKING THEM UP ON GOOGLE AND YOUTUBES. I KNOW THAT ISN"T THE BEST WAY TO JUDGE A VIDEOGAME BUT I AM GONNA TRUST MY HIGHLY TRAINED INSTINCTS AND CONCLUDE THAT YOUR GAME REQUEST PRIORITIES ARE POOP

Actually Starflight 2 (and I presume Starflight 1 though I never played) is a great game -- probably better than half the stuff already on GoG.

I was a little confused when I wrote that, I misread the titles of these youtube videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FS7tZ-0A1R8

I thought they said "let's play Starflight 2! " and "Let's play Starfight 3!" meaning these were sequels, but they actually meant parts 2 and 3 of the first game.
I had mistakenly concluded that the whole series was just to ugly for me to get into. Yeah I know gameplay is more important than graphics, but shit those videos are downright disgustingly ugly and the gameplay didn't seem to be mindblowing anyway.
anyhoo, maybe I was wrong about the rest of the series (starflight 2), I can't find much info about it. ( I still have absolutely no interest in playing the original)

CaptainGyro: shenanigans

I have both, Starflight 1 and 2 on that shelve right next to me in their original boxes not once, but twice.
One of the Starflight 1 copies is even in one of those lovely flat folding boxes like they used with double vinyl records. And I also got the original Genesis Starflight on top of it.
Anyone coming in here, claiming that they're crappy, denying their rightfully achieved place among the greatest classics of computer and videogame history, should be tarred and feathered and then thrown out with a serious butthurt.
Now, let me get you some facts coming straight from the back of the first Starflight box:
- Explore 270 star systems and 800 planets with unique eco-system.
- Interact with 7 alien races, each with unique languages and cultures.
- Choose and train 6 ship's officer: Captain, Science Officer, Communications Officer, Navigator, Medical Officer, and Chief Engineer. Their performance improves with experience.
- Includes animated graphics of rotationg planets, landing sequences, and more.
This all in 1986, on two 5.25 floppys.

What Siannah (and everyone else, in their own oblique way) is trying to say, is that writing in all caps makes you seem like an idiot, and makes anything you have to say irrelevant as people don't want to read it. If you want to have a discussion, please attempt to communicate in a more subdued manner. Typing in all caps is the written equivalent of shouting at the top of your voice, and it is not pleasant to read.
