PLEASE! The one game I long for so much which is not playable in win7/vista
Once again, ever heard of the wishlist?
There are way to many newcomers who do not take notice to this.

Well there probably aren't, you just don't know about those who do :D
And yeah we... Do, actually.
Incidentally, what's better, Dungeon Keeper 1 or 2? Where does the difference lie? Never played the second one...
Oh yeah, go to wishlist and all that...

I only played the second one, so I wouldn't know either. I got the impression people preferred the first. But I have no idea where that impression came from, so let's just ignore it for now.
Anyone who played both?
I've played and finished both Dungeon Keeper 1 and 2 and rate the Dungeon Keeper franchise amongst one of my favourites. I too prefer Dungeon Keeper 1 for several reasons. Somehow, the first installment has a better, darker atmosphere as where Dungeon Keeper 2 goes a bit overboard on trying to be humorous. The primitive 3d graphics of the sequel also make it look a bit sterile. Gameplaywise, I think Dungeon Keeper 1 has a better, faster pace and no fancy stealth levels like you would find in Dungeon Keeper 2. Overall, it's kinda hard to point out why Dungeon Keeper 1 is better than it's successor and I'm sure there are some people who would argue otherwise, but for me the original just feels and plays better.
I've been looking forward to a Dungeon Keeper 3 ever since I watched it's sneakpeek which came on the Dungeon Keeper 2 cd.

I've played both, and I also prefer the first one. DK2 wasn't a bad game by any stretch, but it was... You know, it's damned hard to put my finger on exactly what was wrong with it. One thing I found annoying was the change in graphical style. While DK1 used sprite-based units, DK2 went full 3D at a time when that meant very low-poly models. In effect this meant that rather than get prettier, units actually got uglier in the second game (this is my personal opinion, you understand). For instance, look at this DK2 screenshot from Mobygames. Looks like crap, right? Compare it to this screenshot of DK1. Granted, that also looks like crap (but then I never used the first person perspective in DK1 if I could help it), but that's because the sprite is in such a low resolution. If they'd gone for hi-res sprites rather than 3D in DK2, I think the result would have been better.
That said, DK2 was mostly more of the same, compared to DK1. There were some new rooms and units, but otherwise it was pretty much the same game. This may sound like critique, but I actually think that is exactly as it should be. However, it does mean that DK2 was much less memorable than DK1 (as sequels often are), simply because it did not bring about the total innovation in gameplay that the first one did. In an imaginary world where DK1 was never made and DK2 was the only Dungeon Keeper game, I think it would have been just as popular as the first one was in reality.

Exactly. It's almost impossible to say why DK1 is better than DK2, it just is. I did try to give an explanation of sorts above, though.

hmm, ok. Sounds like I would prefer DK1 over DK2, since I thought the 'humor', 3d graphics and the fancy stealth levels were some of the lesser point of an otherwise great game. Err.. which publisher announcement am I looking forward to if I'm looking forward to DK1?

Strange, for me the opposite is true. I prefer Dungeon Keeper 2 to 1, sure the poly's were poor but I enjoyed the atmosphere better in DK2. Maybe it was that more humor aspect that I preferred, DK1 is unquestionably a darker game. Personally it always brings me a smile when I hear "Jackpot Winner!"

That would be EA.

Yes, EA, as with half good IPs. Hey, if we get our wallets together, maybe we can buy a share of EA. Then we'd get to help making decisions! With the part we'd buy, it would be something like who will clean the floor in EA LA tomorrow or what color should janitor's closet be. BUT if we find a good janitor, we might smuggle him in and get him steal stuff from their desks, like legal rights for IPs. It would be janitor then who would GoG need to buy them from - and unless he creates company 'Janitor old IPs,' we should get old games back!

This is a brilliant, flawless plan. I don't see how this could go wrong at all.
Quick! Let's spend all our money on EA shares NOW!

Well, I enjoyed both games very much, but as I explained above, there is just something extra special about my memories of the first one. That said, whenever someone hit the jackpot in DK2, I'd zoom across the map to the casino, to watch my monsters jivin' around to Disco Inferno :-D
But yes, the first one is a darker game, although still very humorous. It gave you more of a feeling of being a completely evil bastard than the second one did. DK2 was much more light hearted.
