chautemoc: Please don't promote piracy here. =/

Darling_Jimmy: For the record; GOG promotes piracy. It is, you know, the semi-ethical kind but piracy none the less.

Hm... Which way does GOG promote piracy? According to your link this web-site promote GOG. Or I missed something? :-)

chautemoc: Yeah. Apparently it'll be next Thursday.

Let's hope it won't be another countdown. ;P

Yes, they promote GOG and offer pirated games for download. To be fair, any game on there that is in the GOG catalog, the download page refers to the GOG game page for that particular game, but for the non-GOG games, you can just download them directly from there. Not really the kind of site you want to be affiliated with, if you want to stick to the high road in the DRM debate.

Haha. Ya, that's a funny way of looking at it. Let's forget about the exchange of money for ad space. ;)

Wishbone: It certainly could refer to The Dig.

tb87670: Tell me, have you found Alpha Cent for sale anywhere?

I purchased it from the UK last year. It's currently published under the Sold Out label. I expect if people really wanted the game they could import it.

Don't you think it's an affiliate deal, where they only get paid if people buy stuff through their links?
My guess is that this is done in order to justify removing the downloads from that site when games are released here, without anyone having to go to court over it. I don't really see the problem with that.
Oh, and Another World would be awesome. One of the best games ever, and I don't say that often. I mean, I don't think I do. Maybe I do, but this time I mean it.

Kinda' splitting hairs but you could be right: maybe GOG only supports piracy when a visitor clicks their link. Anyway, in case you missed it, my initial point was not to criticize. I was only suggesting that it is safe (perhaps even encouraged) to post links to protected intellectual property in this forum, given GOG's attitude of acceptance toward piracy. Then again, it may be one of those NIMBY things.
On topic: ooh, only an hour or so 'til Another World (maybe.) I tried to buy that game this past summer but there was a problem with the dev's website. No response to my email either. Then I watched someone play it on YouTube and I was pseudosatisfied.
FYI, affiliates only get paid when a certain amount of sales are made via affiliate links. So unless they're sending a lot of new customers to GOG, they won't be earning very much, if anything.

Beside the point but noted. Thanks.

The motto of Origin used to be "We create worlds".
That would be so cool.

Not it would not. It would be OMFGWTFBBQ!
Well, Ultima is a well-known Origin IP and EA has recently taken steps to revive the brand (in a manner of speaking)... so Origin isn't out of the question.
