We're more than happy to announce that this weekend we've managed to exceed 10,000 fans on [url=http://www.facebook.com/gogcom]Facebook! Of course we couldn't have done that without you - the greatest community out there! Thank you for your support and now let's have 10k followers on Twitter :)

nondeplumage: So what are the benefits of having 10,000 subscribers on Facebook, or Twitter? Is it just a number's game, a nice surprise that at least 10,000 people are aware of the site? Or is it actually useful for advertising for the site, just an alternative to word of mouth and e-mail subscriptions for updates?
You are right. It is a number's game. At the same time it is also an alternative to email subscription and to word of mouth.

As the owner and operator of two websites, I have had to use and abuse social media a number of times. I have both a Facebook and a Twitter, and I am following in both areas, and have been since the launch of GOG's Facebook and Twitter.
