Picked up WazHack, an indie game by an Australian developer this week after I saw a video of The Yogscast's Lewis and Simon playing it.

The game is absolutely bloody brilliant. I've logged about 30 hours so far, still haven't gotten very far down the dungeon but the options for gameplay are astounding and replayability is HUGE.

Only 5 bucks direct from the developer and then downloaded from Desura -- and that's 5 Aussie bucks, so in US only $4.43.

BTW, it's a perma-death rogue-like game where your goal is to get down 3,000 feet of dungeon to find treasure. I've made it to 500 feet, so you can only imagine how tough this is but so bloody fun and funny.

Beautiful graphics, completely awesome game oh ........AND has multi-player.

You can buy it direct from the developer (he makes a bit more on it if you don't buy it direct from Desura, and as he's charging a ridiculously cheap price he deserves every penny, IMO

And....if you're interested, watch this British guy playing for about 20 minutes. Funny video and a good way to see gameplay in action.

Highly, highly, highly, highly recommend this game. Easily one of my Top 5 all year.

EDIT:

There's also a wishlist for the game on GOG that someone else put up a couple of months ago. Please sign it if you like the look of it. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat if it arrived on GOG, it's that good.

I've been sort of playing this quietly for the past 8 months or so, and I agree with your sentiments entirely.

It's brilliant isn't it? :)

Every time I play it and..........die.....I vow that's it, I'm done, I'm NEVER EVER EVER playing it again. Fifteen minutes later I'm back for just "one more go, one more go".

What I love about it too is, when you start playing, you don't realize there's an incredible number of hidden things in the game as well as how every choice you make, which is literally hundreds every few minutes, has a HUGE impact on how fast you die. Throw in that its randomly generated, and I can see consistently playing this for years.

How far down did you get so far? Have you reached 3,000 feet? Please tell me no, or I'll feel pathetic. Lie if you have to :)
Hmm I'll watch the Yogscast episodes (although I don't like the Yogs people very much) to see what it's like.
It definitely has an interesting name and it looks interesting at first glance.
There's no demo right?
Not that you really need one with a game that affordable.

The link to the video I gave is NOT Yogscast, btw. It's another British guy who is very funny.

And WHOOPS -- thanks for the reminder. YES....there's a demo on the website that you can play online. Lasts about 20 minutes I think.

Thanks. Really hope GOG adds it. I've already passed on info to the developer about GOG so hopefully he'll submit it.

Awesome. :)

I really do think you'll love it. Let me know what you think when you play it -- oh and a quick hint, don't take things at face value there's a lot of hidden or surprising things in there and things don't always do what you think they will :)

Oh and btw, I'd recommend watching a short Lets' Play video once you've had a couple of quick attempts and died very quickly :) There were all kinds of things I had no idea about until I saw another gamer playing it, and from then on my gameplay got even more enjoyable -- and surprising.
