Dzsono: I think what people are saying, is that if they want links they can go to a content aggregation site like reddit, et al. Instead, they would prefer that you offer your own opinion on why this is interesting for you. Why do you care that there are hidden graphical options in Watch_Dogs?
avatar
Punished_Snake: Well, because I think there are only two options: or they artificially downgraded PC version because consolle can't match PC spec, so no one can complain about how superior the PC version is...or because they want to do a "HD" version of Watchdogs, and they will basically re-enable all those features.
but PC's in general can not play it on those setting either... see above.

If people are having trouble getting a solid 60fps out of it with good systems, I have the feeling that the game ran like shit with the enhancements, so the devs just removed them entirely instead of working on optimisations.
Really old tbh. Everyone on watch dogs forums is bitching about this. Generally the pc version of this game is terrible. It's not the first time that ubi used stronger graphics to show off at E3 shows. All the AC titles have terrible pc ports.

Yeah, I remember Splinter Cell Convinction trailer too.

But some says that with the "old/new" settings stuttering is removed.

That was indeed my point, thank you for writing up a nice description/explanation.
...well, it certainly would be quite something, if they downgraded PC versio just for the sake of selling more console versions - it makes more money for them per unit afterall.

Sounds like conspiracy, so just wait and see :p

Actual modded gameplay video

edit: i havent seen or played the game, so no idea what this is supposed to look like.

mhh I wouldn't know friend. Far Cry 3 was my last ubi title. I did play WD at a friends' house and his AMD 7970 gave yo fps drops during driving. Gave gave me headache so I stopped playing lol

Since ubi doesn't care about pc after AC1, they won't get any money from me :p
Interesting. I also discovered something about a graphics mod unlocking the original effects today but that was another one.

Edit: Woops. Same mod, just different source. Me suck at reading.

No it isn't. It's just the original game with tweaked settings. It says so right in the description. Also, none of the effects the mod were supposed to add are present, e.g. headlight shadows, headlights lighting up raindrops, etc.

If that was their goal, they wouldn't have bothered with a PC version at all and gone just console.
Sounds more like preventive witchburning for me.

Tweaking settings is hardly linked to a downgraded version. No dev / publisher will bring out a game with the standard settings tweaked to the most extreme possible. And yes, on a E3 show or a trailer they certainly try to show the game as good as is possible - where's the surprise or foulplay here?

foulplay?

at the very least questionable to show say something fotorealistic and then in the actual product has stickmen. Like say the Colonial Marines affair. Sort of missleading advertisement. Hype-generation - certainly makes sense from their marketing people point of view..but personally i think its questionable.

Anyways, i am not too keen on Watchdogs to begin with. Ill probably pick it up in year or two from some discount or another. Maybe.

I am simply super interested what they are going to discover there - if anything :)

... and that is actually the real foulplay and questionable - to scream bloody murder before there are results (or a victim) around. As happened here or on the linked Neogaf thread.
Which even more screams "tabloid and I know it" in your face, when someone puts up a thread with just the link in it.

INI tweaking isn't something questionable, at least not on PCs. Given the wide options on hardware, that's pretty much standard. You can find guides with 10+ pages about tweaking INIs for Skyrim, to squezze every 0.1% out of your machine. Doesn't make the inital INI settings a downgrade - just a common ground to start for all.

I havent really brought out the torches or pitchforks if you read my posts though.

Unless you ofcourse expect that no one is interested about this sort of stuff and wouldnt (shouldnt?) post anything before its "confirmed" at somewhere else. Where ever that maybe. This is forum - about gaming. Where else people should shout their mind then ;)
