I think we should only ROT13 the book spoilers. Once the episode has aired there's no reason to spoiler tag stuff regarding that episode as it's already out in the open. If the episode aired and you haven't seen it better stick out of the thread.

This way we can keep spoilers specific while still having a normal conversation about the show and stuff.

ceemdee: Hey, if you guys are going to ROT13 the spoilers you should probably mention what episode it is for since the only way to know is by reading it. ;)
My post, lowyhong's, zebber's and TheCheese33's refer to the last two episodes (ep 2 and 3) so they're safe.

Smannesman: I like it, it's a bit too soap opera-y sometimes but it's still cool.
I hope it doesn't get canceled.. like almost every decent cult-y show.
It's already been renewed for a second season.

Nice!
Of course they also have to stop before it becomes 'old' like Supernatural ;)
Oh, and btw the 3rd episode of the series is just fantastic from a zombie-fan standpoint. Never been so excited about zombies since I first watched Dawn of the Dead (Euro-edit version by Dario Argento, music by The Goblin) many, many years ago....
For me, the biggest draw is the characters. In most zombie movies, they barely leave enough time in the span of two hours to give anything more than a basic outline for characters. Here, the characters don't take a back seat; they're integral to the show. Also, the show has taken strides to make itself unpredictable, which is one of the most important things you can do with a piece of fiction. It certainly threw me for a loop when I kept saying "Oh, there's definitely going to be a zombie attack in this hallway", when lo and behold, only tension was there! Using this unpredictable, sparse nature, zombie attacks aren't expected 24/7, so when they actually come out of the woodwork and give the protagonists hell, it's as shocking to us as it is to them.
OP here. I've been watching the Walking Dead, and I love it. I'm amazed they're able to get away with everything they show, considering it's only TV-14 and it's on AMC. since it's a series, there is a lot more time to develop the characters, and enough time to even add some new ones. While some things do irk me (In the comic, the wife only slept with Shane once and she regretted it), I overall enjoy the show.

Ironically, the show is more mature than what AMC allows when they air movies.

Also, make these last three episodes last, because Season Two won't premiere until next Halloween.

Oh man, I knew there were just 3 more episodes of this season but waiting almost a whole year until season 2? That sucks some serious ass :(

What the hell...

Did they say whether Season Two will be based on Volume 2?

No, but they did hint that the reason the two seasons are spread so far about is the sheer amount of AMC shows that go on in between. There's Breaking Bad and Mad Men, and I thought I heard they were talking about premiering a new one or two, since Rubicon got shit-canned.

Which sucks... because Rubicon, once it gathered up some steam, was pretty damn good.
This week's episode:

1) Let's go to the CDC!
2) Horrible idea!
3) Wait... good idea!
4) But wait... let's allow the stupid cunt woman to sob over her turning sister first...
5) Wait! Let's all watch as the sister comes back as a zombie and do... NOTHING!
6) But wait! Jim is bitten! He should come with us...
7) Don't secure Jim... Jim's nice. He won't bite you.
8) Oh... we broke down. Let's... shamble around.
9) Let's leave Jim for dead despite the flimsy reasoning we all agreed upon to bring him this far. His choice after all.
10) *RV magically fixed*
11) *screeching brakes, loud motor* WE ARE HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
12) Shhhhhhhh.... zombies are immune to the sound of the RV, but they can HEARZ YOU SPEAK!
13) Wait... CDC is locked. How can it be locked?
14) I see a camera!
15) Let's SCREAM at one another as the sun goes down! Despite prior warning that zombies will hear us!
16) More SCREAMING!
17) Zombies circling...
18) Even more SCREAMING! The CAMERA moved! YAY! NO! YAY! NO! YAY! NO! Wait...
19) *gate opens*
20) Let's stare into the light. It looks *DRAMATIC*. Who gives a shit that zombies are shambling around us? Don't walk into the light... Standing here is *DRAMATIC*.

How can one show so quickly go from being sheer awesomesauce to absolute stupidity that fast?

Last night's episode was pretty "meh." Hopefully the season finale next week will make up for it.
I actually didn't mind last night's at all. Expecting characters in high stress situations that they barely understand to act rationally 100% of the time is rather silly.

Though I totally agree about the magically repaired RV...that was just strange.
Boring:-/
Dixon brothers (Norman Reedus and Michael Rooker) are the only thing I like in the whole series. Characters like Rick "holier-than-thou" Grimes are always pissing me off.
I hope he die very soon.
