Runehamster: I bought it for $2 at Amazon on Video on Demand. :D

cogadh: Is that per episode? If so, totally not worth it, I'll just wait for DVD and get it from Netflix.
Yes, hence why I'm only renting that first episode. Like you said, I'll get it from Netflix.

Runehamster: I watched most of it this afternoon after renting it from Amazon. I'm not really familiar with the genre. However, it was light on profanity, leaned heavily on gore/shock value, had excellent special effects, very good makeup, decent acting, and good writing. Suspenseful, but as an earlier poster mentioned, I expect this to be a miniseries, not an actual long-running 'TV show'.

By the way, why is it that nobody in this film simply went down to the local hardware store for some machetes? Quick, quiet decapitations. DECAPITATIONS, PEOPLE.

On another side note, I liked these zombies much better than the hemowotsits from I Am Legend. Shuffly angry gurgly things instead of hissy bouncy gollum things.

DosFreak: Another thing to consider is infection.....best to stay well away from zombies if at all possible.

As we can see by the end of the episode where captain dumbass does some stupid shiat.
I thought the exact same thing. The last ten minutes was like Zombies vs. the Human Derp.

AndrewC: The scenes aren't ripped off from the movies (28 days later in particular); in an interview there was stated that the start of the comics with the main character coming out of a coma was done before the movie got out but the book was published after that even though that scene was already done.
Does not matter since a book from 1951 starts with the same scene. There are even several mini series made from this book. Its title: The Day of the Triffids
It wasn't good, it was awesome! Darabont is great at adaptations so i kinda knew this show was gonna be good, my only complaint is that we are not getting more Lennie James and that the season is only 6 episodes long. Also i'm suprised AMC sold the rights to the series worldwide so damn fast, in Chile the pilot premiered the day after and that almost never happens! Also we get a new episode the day after so that's great too.

Only six episodes? Interesting! I might stick with it then.
In honor of this new show, here is the greatest zombie Flash game ever made:

I thought it was really solid. Hard to tell from one episode but if they keep it character-driven then I'm sure it will be one of the better shows on television.

Got to agree with you there. Road of the dead is nothing short of fantastic.
OK, so I have to say that I'm a bit disappointed in the second episode, but just because I read the comics in the meanwhile; the major problem I have with it is the depiction of zombies running (more than once in this ep.) as well as climbing fences/starting to climb that ladder. This goes against the comic and, if they end up in a place that was depicted in it, will make it less believable.

I'll ROT13 the thing here for those who want spoilers or have already read the comics:

Second episode was awesome.

Also, I'm absolutely amazed that they can get away with all that for a TV-14 rating.

Agreed. I thought the first episode was pretty cool, but the second episode just blew me away
The first episode was way too slow and I say this as a person who tends to like slow things. It just didn't seem like the episode established much more than what people would know going into the show: there are zombies!!!!

Maybe the second episode is better, but I've got no interest in watching the show right now. Zombies aren't really my thing and the pilot did nothing to convince me this would be a compelling take on the zombie story.
Well, I've just seen the second episode and man... it was very, very good!
I mean, where else you could possibly see people "wearing" zombie guts to go through a hoard of "walkers" without being treated like they was lunch?
I was very surprised by how much good the second episode of the series was, so at this point I'm looking forward to watch the next episodes and then to get the entire series on Blu-ray.

cogadh: Anybody know if this is available to stream anywhere? I gave up TV about a year ago now and this is the first new show I've come across that doesn't seem to have episodes online anywhere... well the first new one I was interested in watching at least.
You could try a video streaming site like ustream or justintv to see if someone will show it on there.

I missed the first episode but I saw the second and like it. It doesn't seem like everyone will be killed off predictably so I'm kind of interested in the characters. Entertaining drama.

By the way, has anyone taking the quiz on the walking dead website. It's seems pretty easy to me and I got the title of Natural Leader. So when there is a zombie outbreak, you can look to me as a leader =).

Only if they wish to stay away from the logic of following ME. :) I also got Natural Leader.

I haven't even taken it, and I know I'd get "Guy you shoot in the foot and leave as bait" :P
