michaelleung: YES. FUCK YES.

Good that it's the classic zombies that rise from the dead and not that distilled "infected by a virus" bullshit we have been seeing for a while now. I like it. If they build on the zombie origins a bit more... hot diggity.

I seriously expected him to go all Batesy on Our Noble Hero. 'Meh, can't take the risk...RAWRSTABSTAB'
It was good.

Runehamster: By the way, why is it that nobody in this film simply went down to the local hardware store for some machetes? Quick, quiet decapitations. DECAPITATIONS, PEOPLE.
Yeah, uh, decapitations really aren't all easy like they are in a lot of horror movies and games. It's not like you can just swing a machete and a head comes off. In real life there's loads of tissue and cartilage and bone in a neck. It'd take a bit of time, while in the meantime the not entirely head-cut-off zombie is chewing on your arm.

I know it's tv and not real life, but it seemed like they were trying to go for a grittier take on things, which I liked.

Runehamster: I watched most of it this afternoon after renting it from Amazon. I'm not really familiar with the genre. However, it was light on profanity, leaned heavily on gore/shock value, had excellent special effects, very good makeup, decent acting, and good writing. Suspenseful, but as an earlier poster mentioned, I expect this to be a miniseries, not an actual long-running 'TV show'.

On another side note, I liked these zombies much better than the hemowotsits from I Am Legend. Shuffly angry gurgly things instead of hissy bouncy gollum things.
Weren't those vampires?

Yeah, unless your zombie's head was already mostly off, or you were swinging around one hell of a utensil, it would take some time and effort to cut its head off. Besides, if i remember correctly, in the comic the series is based on, you have to destroy the brain...some characters decapitate zombies, and the head keeps trying to bite you.
Did anyone think the guy's zombie wife looked ridiculous? She almost looked like she was trying not to laugh.

It also followed the comic rather closely; more than I though it would.

Also, since I know it will never be made, I had an idea for a zombie soap opera. It was going to be called "Previously Deceased". Anyone want to produce it?

That's it! There was something off and you nailed it. Does this make us racist? I hope not.

I don't think it counts as racism when it's aliens. Probably xenophobism.
Anybody know if this is available to stream anywhere? I gave up TV about a year ago now and this is the first new show I've come across that doesn't seem to have episodes online anywhere... well the first new one I was interested in watching at least.

Is that per episode? If so, totally not worth it, I'll just wait for DVD and get it from Netflix.

Another thing to consider is infection.....best to stay well away from zombies if at all possible.

As we can see by the end of the episode where captain dumbass does some stupid shiat.
The show seems pretty good, although some parts are a little contrived.

It's a little frustrating to see many core tenets of the zombie survival guide being broken by the characters.
