Gamers then were probably more concerned if they had enough Extended Memory to play the game, playing around with himem.sys, had like 10 or more bootdisks with different Config.sys and Autoexec.bat configurations.

No, what I was saying was essentially a sardonic comment in reply to what you said, "you have no say either bloody way", given that the government that my country has elected came to majority power with 37% of the vote, and it's likely the same anywhere else. I was not saying you can do anything you want.

Don't take it too personally. You've joined up at a time when GOG is really hitting the mainstream, and an unfortunate side effect is the that community is apparently losing a bit (or more than a bit?) of the "classiness" which used to actually be marketed as a feature of this site. There are still a lot of friendly people here - you just have to try to ignore the more mean-tempered people here. Thankfully they're fairly easy to spot, and just as easy to ignore. :)

Don't forget Expanded memory.

Editing config and autoexec were some of the most hair-pulling things ever. Had to make sure to get the drivers loaded in the proper order. Think my best for getting free conventional RAM was something like 610k-ish out of 640k free with mouse, soundcard and mscdex loaded.
