Like some of the other guys who go there primarily to buy steam games, ive never had a problem with them ( bought at least 20 games over the last 18 months from them including certain pre orders ie BL2/Dark Souls/Xcom EU etc). Yes it can be a pain to find out which games a given voucher will work with, but its easy enough to check. Never had any problems with vouchers for any games i wanted (if a voucher doesn't apply then so be it). Wont touch their games which need capsule however.....

Perscienter: No proper discount end dates (like GOG).
avatar
Giltonnam: When they have games marked at 75% off it normally means it's only available at that price for 1 day. Just like Spec Ops: the Line and M&B Collection. (Visibly marked on the top left of the frame). I haven't found anything confusing with their site and have recommended it to others for the great prices.
avatar
Perscienter: Unreliable payment.
avatar
Giltonnam: I've never had any problems with paying with PayPal. I've bought several games over the course of months and never had any issues whatsoever. Did you have an issue with your Paypal account in general? That's the only cause I can think of with my experiences.
avatar
Perscienter: Data-hungry.
avatar
Giltonnam: As far as being "Data Hungry" by wanting your contact/address, EVERY SINGLE online store I've come across requires you address and/or info. Amazon, Steam, GoG (though much less specific iirc?), As far as i know this is for legal purposes should something happen. To be angry at this in current times is really just silly imo.
avatar
Perscienter: Shady discount conditions.
avatar
Giltonnam: Nothing about the discount conditions are shady. Normally things that aren't eligible for discount are visibly marked. Maybe you tried to use the voucher on a special marked promotion and didn't notice?
avatar
Perscienter: After that you would still have to deal with Capsule, their own software, but I won't find out how bad that is.
avatar
Giltonnam: I haven't tried out capsule yet, haven't bought any games that require capsule. So can't comment on this.

If you're having issues with GMG deals (on if they work with vouchers/when they end) then I suggest checking out http://www.reddit.com/r/GameDeals/ . They normally state the the price, if it works with the current discount code, and when it ends.

Edit: Just saw your voucher image. That's really odd, no clue why that is. O.o

Edit 2: Maybe because it can be traded back in. "Excludes titles on Cash Back or
GMG Credit promotions."
Do you work for Green Man Gaming or have friends or family who work for Green Man Gaming? I'm guessing the answer is yes.

^This is the same negative experience I had with the store

Perscienter: Then they had Deus Ex GOTY Edition on discount for less than 2€ without an end date and just took it out without notification (Hello GOG aka 'ONLY UNTIL JAN 3' you do the same, I know).
Actually, the GOG store pages for the Eidos games specifically stated the earlier end date beneath the price. You would only not know about this if you didn't actually visit the Eidos catalogue entries. GOG also made a forum topic reminding about the imminent end of the Eidos deal.
I've been a customer at GMG since it first opened (with a game giveaway if I remember rightly). I lalways use Paypal to pay and the only problem I've ever had with it is slow page loading times, especially when they are giving away something for free or have a particularly popular discounted game. I've bought Steam titles, Origin titles & Capsule titles and have had no issues with any.
I have seen issues with them running out of keys from time to time, but from what I've seen, they have always rectified this within a day or so and sent the keys out to those who didn't get them. They tend to keep customers up to date via twitter when this happens.
As far as the extra discount vouchers go, not once have I had a game in my basket that the vouchers didn't apply to, having recently bought Devil May Cry 4 (75% off Steam Key), Batman Arkham City GOTY (75% off Steam Key) & Mass Effect 3 (75% off Origin Key) all with an extra discount on top via voucher and in one case, with a trade-in discount on top of that!
I am choosy with what I buy from there and have many more games on Steam (and here on GOG), but it really doesn't bother me to buy from there at all.
I follow the following rule for PC games: if it ain't on Steam or GOG, I ain't buying

Nope, just trying to solve a problem and give differing experiences. If I put this effort in for GoG would you think I worked for GoG or just a fan of GoG like everyone else on these forums?
Damn, i just bought Spec Ops The Line for U$ 1,25 there (75% discount + voucher + traded in 2 Commandos games i had there which i also on Steam). I feel like a fucking thief. I'll buy the boxed copy eventually, but i'm broke right now.
They've lost my business due to caving to publisher pressure and enforcing regional pricing for Oceania customers (seems to be only 2K at the moment... thin edge of the wedge though...)

I can buy from the US Steam store and Amazon... goodbye GMG
i never had a single problem on that site, only slow loading page, dunno why such alarmism...
always good price and vouche

2K Games are anti-globalization assholes. :P

Agreed... but now that one publisher has requested it... watch the rest follow suit...
Aussies/Kiwis get screwed by 2K/EA/SEGA/Rockstar/UbiSoft/Namco Bandai and others that aren't coming to mind at the moment...

Perscienter: They currently advertise a lot of bargain offers and have a 30% voucher for no-one-knows which titles.

"A 30% voucher is available across a great range of
PC Download titles* - snap it up quickly as it
expires on Thursday 3rd January 2013 at 12GMT.

* PC Download games only, some titles may
be excluded. Excludes titles on Cash Back or
GMG Credit promotions. Cannot be used in
conjunction with another voucher.
Voucher expires 03/01/13 at 12:00 GMT"

Guess, where you can't apply the voucher! Yes, usually the titles you want to buy. Later on it tells you, it won't apply to special offers. I don't know what they are, but probably everything.
They work on almost everything. If they don't work it is either another special promotion where there is something else given in addition to a simple rebate (cashback or bundles) or it is stated on the games page.

Perscienter: Then they had Deus Ex GOTY Edition on discount for less than 2€ without an end date and just took it out without notification (Hello GOG aka 'ONLY UNTIL JAN 3' you do the same, I know). You couldn't buy it per PayPal. It was impossible for some mystical reason. Before that they wanted all of my data (address, phone number and so forth).
Did you use the same email for signing up that you use for paypal? If you didn't the only mystical thing is how you could miss the big "if you want to use paypal make sure to use the same email for signup" below the email field that you get at least twice while signing up.

Discount end dates is true for most things outside of daily stuff but they are quite long sales for the most time. Data hungy? They want the data that every shop has to get from you if they don't want to get into trouble if something goes wrong. Yeah it is sometimes a bit confusing to find out on what the codes work but that's because they are nearly the only shop that hasn't the "Our codes only work on games that are old and not discounted so that they are completely useless" practice you find pretty much everywhere else.

It is alright. Not really intuitive control otherwise it is very similar to the gogdownloader but with better chances to get a download that isn't corrupted for bigger games.
I like Green Man Gaming, you can sometimes pick up a game much cheaper than Steam.

My holy trinity of digital gaming is Steam, GoG, GmG. These days its mostly GoG, me being a lover of no DRM and all, but hey if I wants me some Scribblenaughts Unlimited some compromises must be made.

GmG has also given me 6 free games over the last couple of years thanks to promos =).

It just didn't take debits, but takes only deposits. Yeah, I synchronized the emal address in advance.

Prices have been fluctuating and some games change the price three times a day.

Well, seems that they are sloppy regarding a few things, while other things work well.
