A new low in the games industry, I mean a new low for DLCs, that's for sure.

Sad to see Monolith involved in this bollocks. Another No One Lives Forever has never looked more distant.

Yeah me too. Sad to see they dropped the production of their own series to fail hard on this, because it has tremendous potential to flop.

They might be quietly working on a Shogo or NOLF or other stuff in the background, though.
Tried the demo on my Xbox this afternoon. It was fun enough for that hour trial, but I doubt I'll actually buy the game.

About the "DLC": pretty much everything you can buy you can also unlock just by playing. The latter will simply take a little longer. That's all.

"...XP Boost add-ons. The solo one costs £1.35 and the team one costs £0.67. They give you or your team double XP gain for one hour."

Will this unlock by playing?

Probably not. Modern Warfare 3 also had codes like these, but they were included in bags of Doritos over in the USA.

hahah I didn't knew about that, really?

Damn, what the hell a food company has to do with it, pepsico isn't it?

Well and there's the Battlefield 3 dogtags you only get if you purchase a Dr. Pepper product.

Those I wish I had.

Mountain Dew also had some sort of halo: Reach BS.

I uh, bought a bunch of Dr. Pepper bottles over in the US to get some Mass Effect 2 stuff. >_>;;

Oh come on, get out of here. ¬¬

(what was it? skins? how much a bottle costs?)
what about that Ridiculous ammount of DLC that SR3 was supposed to get?
20-ounce bottles of any soda are usually about $1.25US. The items in question were actual items with effects on gameplay, but I don't remember which ones those were. They were eventually released as puchasable on PSN, but I don't know about XBox Live.

*leaves*

Actually, I -like- Dr. Pepper and bought a bottle without realizing it had a code. You could either win a game system or an in-game item, so I bought two or three over a two week period.

I got some sort of armor out of it. I forget. All I wanted was an XBox 360. :(

Like the other guy said, most of the items can be unlocked by playing. And most are just for aesthetic purpouses, so i really see no big deal there. This has been done before so many times. I remember that NFS Undercover had something like that, you could either buy the cars with MS points or unlock them in the game. And it was pretty easy to unlock all the cars.

Seriously, theres no need to get mad because of it. It isnt like theyre charging you for maps that were in the game already. I dont see it as a new low. If they want to charge you for content you can unlock in the game, and theres no advantage to those who decide to buy over those who dont, then i really think its fine.
Most of this looks like cosmetic stuff, different costumes and the like. So...who cares, really? If it isn't having a real effect on game play, and most of it is unlocked during play...?
