Navagon: Good riddance. Seriously. The sooner we see the big four withdraw from the industry the better. Their bad and frankly illegal practices are catching up to them now. Their failure to adapt will also strike a significant blow. The industry doesn't need these twats anymore.

Hear, hear! We don't need record companies anymore, the artists don't need record companies anymore, the only "people" who need record companies are the record companies. Sure it would suck for all the people who work for those companies to lose their jobs, but in the long run, it would be better for everyone if they all just collapsed and went out of business (the sooner the better).

Record companies don't actually employ all that many people. At least not in proportion to the amount of money they make. Given that it would mean an increase in employment in companies producing recording equipment and in websites that support and promote recording artists then it all balances out.

You don't compete with "free" by taking your ball and going home. You don't compete with "free" by pretending that old artificial scarcities are coming back after the wall has been broken down. You don't compete with "free" by suing customers. You don't compete with "free" by shunning those who have business models that work. You compete with free by offering a better product and a better business model. WMG is choosing to go in the other direction. Best of luck to them...

This guy, is spot on, and everyone who comes to GOG should agree. :D
Not saying that they will, but this is the business model that GOG is putting forth.
They are offering a better product and better business model than pirating games could ever offer.

They are doing the samething to the movie business. They think that sevices like Netflix are hurting there DVD sales. They recently signed a deal with Netflix, Netflix wont rent any of there movies for 28 days after the release. I think it wont work most people will either use another service, or just wait the 28days.
