In an interview I read on another site (http://gameverse.com/2013/07/19/lyle-lowery-interview-warmachine-tactics-kickstarter/), they said this:

Gameverse: Any word on DRM or distribution services yet? When the game was initially announced, some people on the forums were asking about console releases. Is that something that you guys are considering?

Lyle: I’ll answer the DRM question first. DRM really depends on the distribution platform. So for example, if the game is available on Steam, which we are absolutely planning for, then it will be subject to Steam’s DRM. It’ll also be available DRM-free where that’s applicable. And to answer your second question, our first step is to make the game available on PC and Mac, but the game is being designed to be easily portable to different platforms. So we’re keeping our options open!

Since I still wasn't sure about GOG after reading that, I messaged them and asked if GOG was a platform they were trying to aim for on the PC. They sent a response saying "We're working out distribution plans right now and our expectation is to be able to offer the game via other platforms. Hoping to have news on that soon."

How would you read this?

The game already has lots of funding and it's certain for steam, but I don't use steam, nor DRM. It's possible it could end up here, but who knows?

When it doubt, just go without :D Only time will tell.

Tbh, I'd never heard of Warmachine prior to this, but from looking this over, plus being inspired by FF: Tactics? I'll actually give some solid thought to backing this before the 9 days are up. Thanks, OP!

DO YOU HAVE THE BALLS BALLS BALLS TESTICLES AND BALLS
(ahem)
It's $20 for the game right now and they do say they won't be putting any additional DRM into it. If you want the game, you might as well pledge right now and trade the eventual steam key if you don't like the choice of platform later. I'd have risked it if not for kickstarter-exclusive digital stuff, which is something I don't support.

Warmachine is basically a casual version of Warhammer 40K. Less units on the battlefield, more focused on smaller squads. More "comfortable" and less dark and weird setting.
Love their pledge-vid with the integrated game characters like the bored plated guy on the conference table or the red lady crushing tabletop minis against each other :D

Considering the multiplayer focus I'm not sure they will bring it to gog; afaik steam offers quite an amount of... support... for MP games which iirc will make Steam mandatory if used.
I would say yes to backing it (the Warmachine/Iron Kingdoms world does have a good background).
By the looks of it I am almost certain they are using the XCom Enemy Unknown build of the Unreal 3 engine.

I like how they say they are going for a PC and Mac release and then go on about the DRM used for different platforms, like Steam, in the FAQ. PC and Mac are the platforms, make the game work with that without any additional artificial code put into the software. They do say that to release on a "platform" like Steam requires them to write additional code at least. I don't have a problem with them coming to the conclusion that writing more code to release on Steam is worth their while (or any other store with DRM) as long as only the people that want that DRM'd version have to put up with the DRM, but they don't make any promises that they will release the game anywhere without that unnecessary, artificial code put in it. They even go on to say how great Steam's DRM is.

I'll have to pass on this one. It's not clear what they're going to do. I would just get it from somewhere else if I don't like how it turns out, but I've decided after Shadowrun that I don't like giving a development team money if they plan on using it to put DRM into a game. Enabling/codependent behavior is a disease.
Had no idea what Warmachine was till I saw it when the kickstarter started. I have no doubt I'll want this game as I'm loving the whole tactics part of it.

That said, There's nothing compelling me to pledge for the game, other than getting a copy for the game. And there's nothing else of value in that tier, whatsoever. The game's well passed it's kickstarter point, it's going to get made already so no concern there. I'd rather just wait for the game to go up on preorder and see what bonuses I might get from that.

devs have thrown their game onto Early Access. As usual whole bunch of Steam douchebags complaining about the price LOL
I'm fiendishly interested in this title, having played the tabletop game using friend's armies, but am waiting until the price goes down. Guess I am a Steam douchebag:P.

Pretty much any KS game that hits Early Access has the odd thread (or multiples in some cases) about people whining about the price ....seems to be pretty much the in thing lol.
Meh, it's Steam.
Where any game that is not AAA should never go above $10 or you'll have threads whining about it being expensive.
It's even worse for Early Access games where it's a friggin epidemic.
Thing finally got released. Anyone who backed it actually received their keys yet?.
