Yeah I would LOVE to see WH titles on GOG too, but somehow I do not think this is coming any time soon.

look closely at the figures.
But it's not Space Hulk Board Game - they just use figures from it.
Using the figures on a square grid.
The only GW game with these figures on a square grid IS space hulk!
My assumption was a home made mission....

DodoGeo: The problem with Warhammer games is that they need permission from Games Workshop and those guys don't like to share.

One of the most protective IP holders I have ever seen.

godspeeed: yeah I wish they would keep it cool a bit, I mean I would love to play their board games but everything is under tight control and so expensive.
Yeah, but Eastern Europe being a pirate's haven, have an answer for that too.
In Serbia they have made casts of original figurines and are making GW stuff for third of the price.

EDIT: Here's a treat for all Space Hulk fans.

http://www.teardown.se/alienassault.html

It started as a Space Hulk tribute, but GW shut it down and made them remove all the Warhammer 40K refrences/art out of it. Fortunately I have the first version before the lawsuits started flying, but it is still the same game at it's core.

I really doubt that any of the Warhammer games would show up on a DRM free site. They would be far more likely to show up on Steam IMO, given the fact that both Space Marine and Dawn of War II require that DRM.

DodoGeo: Chaos Gate can be run with Cultists, you have to rename the pistol sound from all caps to none (or reverse, it's been some time now, don't remember exactly).
Oh, I did not know that. I'll have to try that the next time I decide to play the game.

AFnord: Final Liberation: Can run without the cutscenes, but that is most of the fun with that game...

Jonni: I have to disagree. Loved that game and still load it up from time to time. I'm sure there's a bit of nostalgia involved, but still a decent game if you can keep yourself from hoarding artillery.
My problem with the game was the limited map selection and poor AI. The game just got too repetitive after a while. As an entry level TBS I guess it is alright, but it lacked any real depth. The cutscenes though, they were great

Rodzaju: Space hulk 2 runs fine on XP, but my cd is dying & it needs to be in the drive to play.
It just keeps crashing when I try to start a mission. How did you get it to work?

Space hulk is the only GW game that has a recent release that uses a square grid. There are plenty of older games that used square grids (Warhammer Quest, HeroQuest, Space Crusade and some none-warhammer games from the 80's).

THe quest games were fantasy based & Space crusade didn't use Terminators.

And there's a whole mod section where people have made Space Marine chapter packs, Space Hulk themed tilesets, Tyranid sets and all that goodness. Lots of missions from all 3 editions of the board game, too.

I just wish they'd run another print run of Space Hulk 3rd Edition. I want that damn game...I don't want it enough to drop $400 to buy it on Ebay.

AFnord: Space hulk: Runs just fine in DosBOX.
It runs fine, but you have to make sure the sound settings are correct or the digitized sounds play at double speed.

Ah, a slight reading comprehension failure from my side, I missed the "those" part.

Odd, mine just flat out refuses to work. Might be some hardware incompatibility going on.

It is that expensive? You might as well just track down a first edition box then, apart from the psychic system, and the brood lord, 3rd edition is just a tweaked 1st edition SH, with a few more missions, and THE best terminator models GW has ever done (I'm not as keen on the new Genestealer design)

Hehe, I managed to buy it when it crop up in Poland about 2-3 years ago at $100. It was one of the most expensive spontaneous purchases I've ever made... Of course this game shares a fate of my GOG collection - it sits hidden in my wardrobe waiting for a proper time :-) But I really hope one day me and my son will play it.

I wonder if TET was aware all those nuances when choosing figurines for his performance :-)
Whoa many replies here :)
Thanks AFnord for the list of games. Shadow of the horned rat runs very good now :)
I never thought that the PC version had these awful pixelated battle graphics .. i think i will buy a PS1 version instead XD

And THANKS for "Teardown". What an awesome game. Very good atmosphere here. "Star Quest" - Videogame. I like.

Well, if you decide that proper time may never come, I GUESS I'd take it off your hands...:) Enjoy the game, dude.

What a shame :( A game of that quality deserves to be played often and by a lot of people. It is an outstanding tactical game, easy to learn but hard to master.
Personal anecdote time:
When I played it for the first time (which I did in my local game store, as they have large enough tables), a few Go players came by and watched us play. One of them was an old Space Hulk veteran and pointed out that Space Hulk was a very intelligence demanding game. Coming from a person who participates in Go tournaments, that means a lot.
