GameRager: So no one? Has an answer? To my question above?

TheCowSaysMoo: it's going to be a third person action game, but no pissy things like "cover" etc.
Fuck randomly placed non sensical cover. I also hope there's no regen health as well?

You regain health by killing things. It's not a deep game but then it doesn't need to be.

By regen health I meant it goes up by itself......it seems this game is amazing from the stuff i've heard so far.

Watch all the videos associated with the game. Maybe pick up the Dawn of War games if you're interested in strategy games. They'll give you a good look into the universe.

I actually have Fire Warrior for PS2 and the first dawn of war game with all expansions. Good games, all.

i second the movies, with an emphasis on the dev diaries.
Not wanting to derail the other thread, Let's have some love for the Dark Eldar! The criminally underused real evil of Warhammer 40K. Asdrubael Vect <3
Well, since this is ( may be ) the only viable topic.

Does anyone have any idea if we're getting Chaos Gate on GOG? I love the game, however currently:

1. It's nearly impossible to find.
2. It is a big (and I mean big) hassle to run on modern system.
and
3. It's still the best WH40k game atmosphere-wise.

So um, any ideas?

SSI = Ubisoft. THQ currently have the Warhammer 40K license. Forcast = Sunny with some rain.

Couldn't it be argued that all races are evil in 40K?

Maybe now that they actually cool we'll start to see them more in the games. I wouldn't mind a first person shooter as a guardsmen. Hmmm, what about a game where you're a PDF troop and the planet is raided by Dark Eldar?
FPS as a Guardsman or PDF?
Well, a Stormtrooper may be viable as a playing character, since they are the best. But playing a Guardsman who dies after enemy sneezes in his general direction?

In my mind it's the best way to capture the feel of the 40K universe. Joe Blow wasn't good enough to be drafted into the regular guardsmen, so he's a trooper in the poorly supplied PDF of some back water colony. It's a ho hum dull life.

Then a Chaos cult rises up, and the populace starts to succumb to the taint of Chaos. Whole divisions of the PDF forces turn traitor. There's a small chance the Imperium will some regiments of Guard to assist, but don't expect much help beyond that, no Space Marine help for some world which doesn't produce anything important. You're all alone, and you slowly start to lose every ally you have to death or Chaos. Finally, you are driven mad by constant exposure to the horrors of the Warp. The game end with you either going mad and committing suicide, or embracing the madness.

If done right, I bet it could be a really fun survival horror FPS.

What makes it so compelling, to me at least, is that's what would probably happen to somebody like you or me if we lived in the 40K universe. It makes you feel small and insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

This sounds really good.

Also playing as a Callidus assassin might be ginteresting, if done right. One of them managed to succesfully impersonate Genestealer hybrid, so the possibilities are endless. On the other hand, it may end as Hitman:WH40k edition.

They could take a page from call of duty(I know hear me out) and have branching character story lines. So you could have your suvival horror fps as the puny PDF trooper, a Callidus assassin and a Space Marine. They could intertwine the storys and switch your role throughout the game so you get to see a battle against chaos from all different perspectives.

Perhaps the PDF would take place earlier on in the story and by time the space marines show up the planet has already fallen to chaos.

Or maybe the PDF trooper can die when the planet falls to Chaos and daemon invasion (which would be quite expected from a puny trooper). Then we could play as a Grey Knight or Exorcist Space Marine, instead of Smurfs or Blud Rehvens.

Oh, and lest I forget, less "blood 4 teh blood god" Chaos and more other gods' representation. For example Slaanesh could use some shine in the spotlight. On the other hand the devs should be more careful with Slaanesh, unless they want to attact the "ZOMFG a nipple!!!1 Ban the game nao!!" people.
