From what I've seen in that comparison video war of the roses is sort of more or less a mount and blade game with fancy graphics, the moves are exactly the same.

Because it is. Isn't it made by the same studio? It's published by PAradox, so...

Lord_Gregory: I haven't played the other ones but Warband is great. The best action game version of medieval warfare that I have tried.

dirtyharry50: Time was ticking down on the flash sale for this so I went for it. I've been tempted a number of times and passed before but at $8.74 for the collection I couldn't resist it. I think I'll have some fun with the sandbox world where I had so much fun in Morrowind without ever doing the story quest at all. I wound up just exploring all over and taking over various places, killing the Vivec guards and stealing everything in the treasury, etc. and then moved on to play some fun mods as well. I'm sure I spent over 100 hours playing that and I never did find out how the story went. I do mean to go back and play it again for the story sometime as a different class.
Let me know if you figure out how to complete "break out from prison" missions in early game, because I get killed every time :D

You made a good choice, man. You've got plenty of mods for Warband, that guarantees hundreds of hours of gameplay.

Did you buy entire collection? With fire and sword is pretty awesome too (in singleplayer), multiplayer-wise Warband + Napoleonic Wars are the best combo.

Be aware, that you'll probably need some training first, and you will die plenty in multiplayer at first :P But there's no better feeling in the world that killing mounted knight in full speed with your thrown javelin / axe.

I did get the entire collection, yeah. I'll definitely try to at least get a little handle on the combat before I enter the multiplayer fray as fresh meat for the killing by the experienced players. I never let dying bother me too much. I just respawn and keep coming back at them. Hopefully that leads to improvement with time. lol

I think it depends on a server. Sometimes, when you die, you're dead until the round is over and one side wins (like in Counter Strike) on others, you respawn just like in any other game. I think it depends on server settings / mods

I had major problems at the beginning of the game. Noobie advice - reqruit some soldiers in nearby village as soon as possible and train your skils on local bandits :P

Mounted combat is difficult (I'd say), so if you can't manage that, step out of your horse and attack motherfuckers with an axe on foot :D

For Napoleonic Wars, I dunno. I've heard it's not that easy to fight against organised clans / groups, who hold formation and fire at command, just like real army.

Don't be upset if you die by an arrow shot from 300 yards :P

Taleworlds have no involvement with War of the Roses, they're busy making Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord.

WotR was made by Fatshark, who previously made Krater.
btw war of the roses requires a good rig, where chivarly being a unreal 3 engine runs good on low end machine and warband preety much runs on most machine withing last 5 years,

they could have given war of roses a good story campagn considering it the history of war of roses was very poltical and dramatic battles, hell even game of thrones is based on them with puny fantasy theme.
Mount and Blade Warband is a really good game with a lot of freedom to do what you want. I enjoyed it. I haven't played the others. War of the Roses is multiplayer only which kinda turned me off, because I know people will stop playing it eventually.
