Space Quest IV narrator(does that count as an NPC?), verbosely describing your off-screen death:

"The young shuttle pilot, his seat suddenly humidified by your surprise entry, fires his pulse ray. The shot just misses you and then bounces off the reflective surfaces of the cabin, eventually managing to fatally perforate you. Just as you fade from the living organism club, you think, in amazement, 'So that's what my spleen looks like!'"

I've just about lost my patience with that game, Meat Circus specifically. I recently restarted the whole game (last time I played, I didn't get even try to defeat the lungfish), but now I've had to restart Meat Circus several times because the knife throwers are too annoying (and neccessary to continue). I'd be happy if I could fly, or heal Oly halfway through.

Actually, I stopped at 5-1/2 hours in. :P
Interesting story and fun gameplay, but I started playing Dark Souls instead. And now, I've stopped playing Dark Souls to play 3089 and Zeno Clash II.

I dunno, "stairs" was pretty freaking funny. :)

I'd have probably laughed harder if I hadn't seen that joke done 100 times in conjunction with Doctor Who :) Also I felt rather sorry for Claptrap. Couldn't we have just carried him up the stairs? :(

ah, I think i'm one of the few people in the world that hasn't watched much Dr who. is it an easter egg then for the show? Hahaha I think we will have our fill in the prequel. I can't wait!
