monkeydelarge: It seems you are doing fine without other pineapples, Mr. Player.
I'm rather fond of this one, myself.

monkeydelarge: I've been playing violent video games like GTA since I was 5 years old and recently, when I saw some footage from what is going on in Ukraine right now, I was totally horrified. I imagine, if I saw such things up close in real life, I'd be even more horrified. Some people say violent video games turn people into killers. LOL

Cormoran: Precisely that, even the footage I saw recently of police firing 47 bullets at a man armed only with a knife was enough to take my breath away. Nothing I've ever experienced in any violent game has even come close to that.

In the end it comes down to being able to distinguish the difference between reality and fiction. If we have to force the belief that we can't do that for games then we should do it for movies, books, music and any other fictional media out there as well. Just picking on the one thing, be it the medium that fiction is played out in, or the themes that fiction deals with, is hypocritical to me.
Well to be fair to those police officers, the guy that got shot 47 times was holding a knife and a knife is not a toy. He was also behaving like a crazy person. The footage I saw from Ukraine shows unarmed protesters being sniped.

KneeTheCap: I still find it odd that it's okay to massacre, mutilate and murder people in games, but this game gets all the shit? Mind you, I am NOT advocating nor accepting rape in any form in real life, but this is a game. Rape is a crime. So is murder. Yet murder is acceptable in gaming.

Why is that?
This, pretty much.

And not in, thanks.

I agree, and if they had tazers they would have used them.... oh wait, they did have tazers....

No, I'm past "being fair" to people like that, sorry. Something being worse somewhere else in the world doesn't make what happened there okay.

Seriously, Licurg, why in the hell are you promoting a game that is basically a rape sim? No really, what is your motivation for this?

You know, one could say that he's just promoting creative and artistic freedom. I grew up in Germany in the 90's where a huge portion of the GOG catalogue was either banned or at least censored, GOG actually was my first chance to legally obtain many of these games. You say Rapelay is evil, I grew up in a country that treated Hitman, Blood, Duke Nukem 3D etc. the exact same way - who's to say what's okay and what's not? Now, knowing Licurg he's probably mainly trying to provoke people for the lulz, but it's still an interesting topic he's raising.

Plus the outrage concerning Rapelay is quite hypocritical with the exact same themes being extremely popular in regular pornography (especially Japanese pornography - Rapelay didn't invent the whole subway stalking and groping theme, it was already extremely popular in porn and hentai) and I assure you that even many of the game's critics watch films with the same themes when they are not playing Social Justice Squad - and may not even be aware of that.

Btw, when are we getting Seduce Me on GOG? :)

Lol, it's been taken down. This game looks kind of awful though, don't think I would have voted. You're not in!

(Not particularly against these kinds of games though, murder simulators like Carmageddon and Postal are fine and GOG but this would bring a lot of bad publicity. I'd be more on board for something not as extreme like Fate/Stay Night or Utawareumono )
