KneeTheCap: Also I'm not in as I own trine, but thank you for the giveaway, Licurg. I bought another copy of Sacrifice and donated it to my cousin in your name :)
Yay ! :D

I'm not in because I already have Trine.

But I voted because a man with enough balls to make such a thread deserves to be able to purchase a game he wants to play, DRM free(and there is nothing evil about this thread because Rapelay is just a game).

And because the fact that it is being sold by GOG will make Anita Sarkeesian fans and other similar types extremely butthurt. :o)

doady: How much business does GOG lose from all the games in their catalogue that are centered around murder?

JustSayin: Probably a lot less than they would if a game about rape was allowed to be on here.
There is a huge difference between killing for something you believe in (as in most games) and raping someone for...fun I guess. The murder in games is just part of a complete game. *Waits for someone to link the Postal games* What is RapeLay about? Raping women.

I'm not saying no one should play it. I'm an adult. If you want to fantasize about raping women, have at it. When you finish the game I hope you get help. All I'm saying is that bullshit like that should not be on GoG. The only point of the game is to rape women.
Killing someone for something you believe in, doesn't automatically put you on the moral high ground where you aren't really a killer but a "hero"... That's BS. That is denying reality. Someone who kills for something he believes in is no different than someone who kills for fun. COD is a mass murder simulator. And this mass murder simulator is just a game so it's existence on Earth is harmless to all humans living here.

solzariv: Voted for it because I'm certain Anita Sarkeesian and the rest of the limp-wristed tumblr social-justice crowd is butthurt over its mere existence.

We needs more variety of games so voted but "you're not in".

What about killing in self-defence, as in most of non-military shooters? :)

Well killing in self defense just means, you are guilty of desiring life for yourself or for your loved ones so I think that puts you in a different category. And we were designed to desire life and to do whatever it takes to preserve it so...killing in self defense, just makes you human and condemning someone for being human is silly.

I think the distinction most people make that makes this so unappealing is that there is such as thing as a justified killing. There's no such thing as a justified rape. Personally I think the game was in poor taste, there are violent games that are in poor taste as well there's a game I know of where your a KKK member who needs to go out and kill Blacks. Rapelay is basically a simulator without any real story, there's enough of the real thing that I think we can do without some extra.
Also, Word of Jim
While I don't agree with some things he says in his Jimquisitions, this one kind of nails it.

"you're not in" , as I already have Trine.

I'm all for it, just so long as it doesn't include regional pricing...

Yes but what makes rape so evil in real life is what is does to the human victim, civilization and idea of freedom, right? Well what if no harm is done? Then it is just people having fun with a game. These people can block out the connection between the game and real life. I think people who find a game disgusting can't block out the connection between the game and real life. And there is nothing wrong with that. We are all different. There are some games and movies, I can't stand because of who I am, the memories I have etc. I remember when the movie Saving Private Ryan, first came out. I heard, a lot of WW2 and Vietnam veterans couldn't stand watching the entire movie and walked out of the movie theaters after the beach scene because it was too realistic. It brought back horrible memories for them. But for those who can block out the connection between the movie and real life, those who have never experienced war, Saving Private Ryan can be very enjoyable.

You're not in.

I wouldn't mind if Season of the Sakura ended up here though.

Interesting point, though you have to admit finding simulated rape to be enjoyable isn't the greatest selling point in the history of marketing. These things can have negative effects as they can desensitize people to the problem. We already have a rape problem in our society as it is with people blaming the victim, a lot of rape cases are dismissed because the woman was dressed or acting provocatively. I think it setting the precedent that rape is an acceptable form of entertainment (no matter what medium it is presented in) would have absolutely no benefits and would have a great potential for harm.

Its a joke that might make you laugh, but it shouldn't be.

One PC game can desensitize people to the problem? Maybe if 5 out of 10 PC games released every year were like Rapelay but one PC game?
