Okay, I feel it is time to take this to a more public arena as the (offtopic) discussion has gone quiet.

GOG changed the title of one of the topics on the forum.. for containing the word 'ass'. More information and a discussion about the censorship with GOG can be found in the thread, which was originally called "GOG.com kicks ass", but now reads 'GOG.com kicks gluteus maximus'.

The reasoning was "it might be offensive". The precipice of a slippery slope indeed. We have the likes of Duke Nukem and Postal here, two very controversial games. Yet they remain while a commonly known, extremely positive term gets censored.

Let's vote to give escapist23 his ass back!

I thought the reasoning was search engine optimization, and not having swear words on links to prevent falling under Google's filters. You should vote against censorship on Google, which applies its filters in a pretty sneaky way. :)

Fun Fact: When they implemented a system to block swear words in Ultima Online, they blocked any word that contained certain letter combinations. So if you were to write assassin, assistance or any other ass-containing word, your sentence would come out as gibberish. Of course people were quick to find ways around this, but EA did not want to remove or change the system, so there were a lot of A$$a$$ins running around.

The laugh of it is that in British English, the word "ass" really does only mean a donkey. The word everyone's thinking about is "arse".
